I actually bought a bunker yesterday and put it together last night. It's tiny! If that thing holds 20 models I'm a Jokaeros fathers brother!

Rather amusingly I attempted to fit some Tau Broadsides on top of it. I could just manage to squeeze 2 on yet the capacity inside the bunker is enough for 4!

I have been reading this thread with an evil smirk on my face and stopped in the local store and had a look at the building and escape hatch and while reading up on it found out something neat, the ecape hatch I belive works both ways...... not only can you pop OUT of it to deploy the WWP or have a unit spill out like an angry ant hole, you can ALSO ENTER IT AND END UP IN THE BUNKER........!

Sooo- depending who you play and the scenario, picture placing using the hatch as a means to also escape an enemy unit that you know will punk you like termies dreads, other things that either DS or will roll on on you table edge..... deploy a juicy unit next to the hatch...mmmaaayyybe surround it so as to disguise its location, enemy deep strikes or comes on and at some opportune moment 'poof' down the rabbit hole, into the bunker, shoot the unit, they are left exposed and opponent is going oh crap i have nothing to assault..
Then when the time is right, pop back out and do whatever it is you are going to do.....
I like this...... sneaky ...... hell, could have 4 SC or Blaster born moving from hatch to bunker and vice versa, like a jump pack squad , mobile defense line pluse the 4 up? cover of the bunker.....

I admit I did not see the info on the comms relay, does it negate the reserve roll or just lower it by 1 or reroll the result/ I have to look when I can... I have a PDF of the rules, no hardcopy.... hardcopies of codexes and rules are better, pdf's blow when you need info during a game.....

Regarding the WWP- AS I UNDERSTAND IT- IF the enemy does not bubblewrap it, I can deploy out of whatever edge up to 6" away ,so if half the marker is blocked I can come out from the other half....the way I read it... besides you should not be able to block any units coming out of a portal since it is not a normal hatch type door.... but that is me.
I would deploy it out of range of any foot sloggers because any unit coming out would just be shooting any way since they cannot assault, no need to get THAT close.. or deploy it in cover like a building ...nowhere does it say you cannot have a character deploy it in cover,a building.. just says while not in a vehicle..... so deploy in a building, unit get 4 up from shooting attacks(since we cannot assaault from it(which is BS because that is how raids are done) and any enemy has to roll difficult terrain or dangerous terrain to get to it....

Just my thoughts from yesterday while having a coffee Wink Twisted Evil Cool pirat

This really sounds interesting. However unfortunatelly for me, the fortifications are not allowed mostly in my area. :-(

Elaborate please? How are they not allowed mostly in your area? you mean where/who you play with/against or??

I did not think you needed 'permission' to take stuff like this, the aegis defence line, etc since they are an 'anyone can take item'...well except for 'Nids. Granted taking fortifications may not be fluffy BUT sometimes you need to take what you can to counter stuff against which you have no unit or option to take in the codex....

If this is the case I think whoever needs to re read the rules and such ...

One of the nice things about the 6th and 7th ed rulebooks was the inclusion of specific buildings and fortifications, with statlines and points costs. Additionally, there's a wonderful book called Stronghold Assault that was released by GW in the new codex format that has a whole bunch of really amazing pieces that you can take in your detachments.

Speaking of Detachments, did you see where the CAD has a slot for 1 Lord of War and 1 Fortiification in it? It's a great way to make a case for being allowed to bring your Imperial Bastion in a 1500 or 1750 or 2000, or whatever amount of points you want list.

Seriously though, Stronghold Assault is totally worth picking up (especially if you can get it used for less than $50).

Just don't be like the guy in my local meta that built a 36inch by 36inch board with an impassible terrain cliff face and one long difficult terrain ramp to allow access to the top where he placed an Aquila Strongpoint such that anyone looking to assault it would need to either land a no-deviation deep strike or run 24inches in order to assault it, all the while it rains vortex missiles on your head.

Don't be that guy.

That is just Douche play to me, if I would see that i would tell him in no uncertain terms-' are you kidding me.... enjoy playing against yourself with that.... I will go look for someone interesting and maybe fun to play against..'

Reminds me of this guy who always wanted to play Mordheim with us we let him play a campaign and guess what.... he takes his warband of pitfighters and goes and holes up in a building and dared us to attack him.... wish there was a rule for setting buildings on fire......we let him stay there and basically shunned him.....

Was it in one of the rule books or the faq that said we can't assault out of a webway? Because of it's the faq then since they forgot to include it in the new one we can do it again. Smile

No, it's the rule that says you can't assault on the turn you arrive from reserves, and it's in the main rulebook.

I still say ,and hope, maybe the codex changes this since this is part of the fluff.... portal opens, DE rush out, raid blast pillage,go back ,portal closes up..... we should be able to assault out of the portal..it is not a normal reserve entry or deep strike thing.... but that is me..

Aegis is the only fortification generally allowed on local tourneys. Stronghold Assault and Escalation are not allowed and since the fortifications are no longer in BRB, they are not considered part of the basic game. Aegis is an exception to the rule. Dont ask me why, when they accept FW and other supplements mostly.

Anyway, using a bunker does strike me as very unfluffy with DE, save for narrative play. So I couldnt care less if they are or are not allowed. :-D Nevertheless. It is an interesting tactic.

If there's any way to stop playing with those tournament-rules-for-advantage grognards, I would completely support you in your decision to find new people to play with. Those guys sound horrible.

It depends. In other ways they are good guys to play against. They will not pull the most unfriendly lists imaginable, like Serpent spam, Knights, Council and other lists I dont care to play against. They generally tend to build interesting lists to play against and having fun is the most important thing. If you ask for a battle agains a friendly list, they bring it, if you ask for tough list, they bring it... They are happy to create fluffy lists and love to go WYSIWIG. So no, they are not horrible.

As for tourneys, this is mostly because anyone with income large enough to afford fortifications and FW would have a serious disadvantage in a meta of players that dont have the means to spend thousands of EUR on minis.
