Haywire vs Melta Empty

So, I recently had a discussion with a crystal hugger from saim han.
It went like: "Haywire usually gets the job done. No problem here."
"But meltabombs are better, letting the target explode more often."
"Jeah, and your fire drakes with it."

Well, that's not all, it went on for almost hours. We came to no conclusion,
or two different ones. Depending, how you look at it. So, I thought,
I'm going to ask you. I'm aware, it always depends on preferred fighting styles,
but I'm open to new suggestions.

For Dark Eldar I'd say Haywire grenades are better than Meltabombs as we are far more susceptible to dying in the explosion of a vehicle than most other armies who, in turn, are far less likely to die in an exploding vehicle (we take nearly 3 times as many casualties in an explosion as a MEQ unit does).

That brings me to a question, that bothers me a little. Wyches have a 4++ roll in close combat.
Let's assume, they have a character model with them, say, with melta bombs.
When the unit attack a vehicle, it goes boom, because of these melta bombs,
do the wyches get their save roll in close combat?

This was addressed in the 6e FAQ but not in the 7e one.

Q: Does the Dodge (4+) special rule confer a 4+ invulnerable save against Wounds caused by a vehicle exploding in close combat? (p27)
A: No.

Opinion is divided on whether we should take this as a deliberate choice by GW to remove certain rulings or, as I'm inclined to believe, laziness or incompetence on the part of the FAQ writers.

Jup, in 6th, it didn't work. I thought, maybe, I've just not read it all.

Haywires are good for getting the job done.

I like the anarchy element of Meltabombs, though. I love the risk of something exploding, and the carnage of when it does.

I think I might be more suited to playing Orks than Eldar...

Troof.

Straight up, I've never accomplished anything with a Meltabomb with my CSM whereas DE Haywire always does its thing. (except for FW Reapers, they just miss all the time)
