Lost Souls - Some Healthy Gloating Empty
PostSubject: Lost Souls - Some Healthy Gloating   Lost Souls - Some Healthy Gloating I_icon_minitimeTue Aug 02 2011, 12:12

For me teh soul trap is the most fun Item in 40k , the twisted delight I get from trapping my opponents favorite hero/s gets me all tingly ... having str 10 is never to shabby either when invariably you go first and hit on a three...

SO to that end I'm creating this discussion for people to list some of their favorite trappings and possibly give us a bit of a gloaty narrative.

G'wan let your inner Archon off the lead for a bit .

Moo hoo haa haaa haaaa !

I just recently rolled out a husk-trap archon again as I wanted a change from running the Duke/Baron

First game we won't discuss but I got a shocking case of 'first game' syndrome had the initiative seized on me and proptly failed pretty much everything, Including my Archons first save (VS a pfist) after he had failed to inflict a single wound with 7 attacks ...

Following game things picked up a bit an he managed to bag himself Belial and a chaplain. I had trouble getting my head round the fact that my Wyches seem to be able to beat absolutely everything in CC including thundernators.

My most recent game was VS GK , I was really not looking forward to it as I feel Ward has essentially written a book specifically for killing DE, yes moreso than deamons (psycannons/psyflmen/halberds)

So I went in prepared for a really hard game, details aside *gloat activated* I manged to pull out the win but in the process I managed to soul trap Driago on turn two (thas going to keep me smiling for a loong tiiime)

Two turns later Lord Vidious, using Driagos stolen life force hacked down a dreadknight before it had a chance to swing Succesfully feasting on the soul of it's pilot to make the Jump to str10, my opponent had a unit of purifiers (his only unit left) looking at a FNP+FC unit of Incubi with a str 10 archon with 7 attacks on the charge , he decided to concede mainly because the Archon would eat them despite their halberds, Soul-Trap FTW

Over on the left flank my wyches slowly ground his paladins to death in cc over several turns....

I really enjoyed that game Twisted Evil

Imperial hero's, gotta catch em all ....

For me, I managed to suck the soul of Mordrak into my Soul-trap, and if I would only roll low enough, I would have sucked the soul of the Swarmlord as well into my soul-trap.

And so far, I managed to let all my opponents concede by turn two.

I got my brothers captain Tycho, although took 3 turns as we both had woeful rolling to hurt each other.

Also got an un-named chaplain leading the deathcompany, which was nice.

Most of other games he's had other tasks, and not really had a chance to track down enemy hero's.

Archon with Shadowfield, Phantasm Grenades, Power Weapon and Combat Drugs, escorted by four Incubi against Sa'cea Sept Tau (so lots of Fire Warriors).

At the end of the game, all of his escort had gone down, but he himself had racked up 6 pain tokens (one from drugs) and had taken out a total of 12 Fire Warriors, three Crisis suits (one of which was his commander) and a pair of Broadsides. That shadowfield saved him against instant death attacks so many times...

Cool thread idea, so far my list of captured souls are a Rune Priest, a Wolf Priest then Ragnar (in one game) and Vulken.

Lately I have been feeling very confident with the husktrap Archon – I almost feel disappointed/naked without him as he has become the “anti-deathstar” for me. Granted he doesn’t always get to use the trap and the HQ is kind of expensive, however, he is pure fluffy goodness in my eyes. I put him in with a squad of wyches or a squad of Grotesques and then hope for a good drug result to help him go trapping. Once he is disembarked I usually launch him like a guided missile into an IC and pray.

I know he/she is not “competitive” but definitely my style of character I like to see in my lists.

On Saturday I played two 1500pts vs Blood Angels.

In the first game my Archon Soul Trapped the Captain whilst the Incubi dismantled his Honour Guard in one Assault phase.

In the second game the Archon Soul Trapped the Death Co Chaplain, whilst the Incubi dismantled the Death Company in one Assault phase. Almost had the Captain again too, but my Archon was alone and charged by 3 scouts and the Captain. He saved with his Iron Halo, the scouts then put a wound on the Archon (Shadow Field failed epically) then the Captain turned him into a smear with a Powerfist.
