| My boyfriend just found this:
http://vk.com/ghostminiatures?z=photo-36664206_327568036%2Falbum-36664206_193182660%2Frev
Considering how GW have reacted to stuff like this in the past it looks like the bounty on him will finally be paid out =/ _________________ Commorragh makes lots of little glass vials~ And the little glass vials go into the blast pistols like a battery~ And the blast pistols get pointed somewhere against your anatomy~ And when the pistol goes off it sparks and you're ready for surgery..Surgery~ - @Cavash wrote:

| It's a direct copy of the artwork from the DE Codex so I expect GW to come down on that company like a ton of bricks.
EDIT - Just seen some of the other stuff this company is doing. Seer Councils, Shining Spears, Harlequin Jetbikes etc. Really good stuff, even though it's blatant copyright infringement. _________________ You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting. | Main differences I can see are that Chapterhouse specifically used GW trademarks. Chapterhouse specifically said "This is 40k Space Marines" or "This is a Tyranid Mycetic Spore" whereas these guys at least renaming their products. Even so though, the fact that the model so closely resembles the artwork for the Baron from the DE Codex, even if it has been renamed, makes it a copyright infringer for copying the artwork.

| Well now. GW loses again on pushing a model, we lose having him in the future codex. What the hell is wrong with GW? Stop leaving these holes. | |

Those things are gorgeous. I don't get why GW doesn't just simply buy up these guys to work for them.

| i think we don`t need to worry about that. They will not remove him from the next codex, cuz its just REALY stupid. See for urself - they do not create this model (as many of other things) oficialy, so, probably, anyone who make a conversion (i have converted baron, but not this cool) is against their copyright So every converted Voidraven, Drazar, Malys, Vect, baron, wych, mandrake, venom, splinter pistol, back pack etc. - IS out of the law! So beware! Judge Dredd already coming for ya! So its just freaking stupid, to remove something from codex for THAT reason... _________________ `We faced a Dysjunction... we were betrayed, destroyed, ashamed, hunted... | No one is trying to sell their converted models and make a profit off of GW's intellectual property though, unlike this company and other companies like this do.
The idea that conversions breach copyright is false anyway. Its the IDEA behind the models that is important, hence Intellectual Property. A conversion is someone using there OWN idea's to represent a GW model. In Contrast, companies like this are using GW's ideas to make and sell models, hence why it is illegal.

| In any case there does seem to be a trend in recent codexes that units without a model are removed. This does not bode well for some of our special characters. _________________ You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting. See it that way: Conversions wouldn't be necessary any longer, as soon as Games Workshop would stop modelling anything other than Space Marines, when no new codex is appearing... _________________ When I'm good, I'm very, very good. But when I'm bad I'm better. | |

| Well, who knows how it would be? I hope they will not be so lame and will not pulled him from new codex.
Or it will be realy, REALY stupid... _________________ `We faced a Dysjunction... we were betrayed, destroyed, ashamed, hunted... Now look who is been risen from the ashes...`

| Yeah. He is in the social net, popular in the SNG - V kontakte. I paid him using CONTACT system, and he send me miniature by mail. But it probably would be a long trip, cuz (now there must be a very topical joke about russian mail system, but nobody will undestand so...)

Law is not on a GW side here, i fear. As i believe it UK have precedent system and there is precedent of ruling against GW in the same situation in a Chapter House vs GW case. - Quote :

| The point isn't that he is making it. GW is a sore loser. Chapter House won the law suit. But they started a nasty precedent with the Nids mysceptic spore pulled. I hope this doesn't transcend to our characters/models. | |

Those things are gorgeous. I don't get why GW doesn't just simply buy up these guys to work for them. because then everyone will start to copy their stuff As opposed to what happens now...? Better for GW to be proactive about signing talent and ensuring there's every chance for people to give them money than for them to stick their heads in the sand and pretend that their hard line IP protection policy is working. I believe the Music Industry's lesson over the whole File Sharing thing was that a) You can't stop it and b) If people don't have to give you their money, then you need to work really hard to ensure that they want to do so and that doing so can be done as quickly and as conveniently as other methods. Watching this dude kick out some insane sculpts for things that aren't in the DE line, while GW sit there launching lawsuits against various people and pulling stuff from army books, that says to me that GW did not learn. As for losing models from our codex... maybe we will. But they're not going to pull every unrepresented thing from our codex, as all of a sudden they'd have no special characters.
