question about the blind special rule.

Does a unit hit by a weapon take 1 blind test if hit by a weapon with the blind rule, or do they take a blind test for every hit taken by weapon with blind?

I am curious about how the Space marine +3st, Blind sword works and the Sun rifle from the swooping hawk exarch works.

thanks

To my understanding, a unit takes a Blind test each time another unit hits it with a weapon that causes Blind.
So if Unit A hits Unit B with a Blind weapon say, several million times, then Unit B makes one Blind test regardless of the number of hits Unit A inflicted.
If Unit B is then hit by Blind weapons from Unit C, it then takes another Blind test because this one has been caused by a different unit. Like Pinning.

Thanks.
That's what I thought.

I have seen lots of people make units take multiple blind tests for each hit from the marine super sword. Which seemed wrong to me.

Any unit hit by a model or weapon with this special rule must immediately take an Initiative test.

Whereas pinning rule says following

If a non-vehicle unit suffers one or more unsaved wounds from a weapon with the Pinning special rule, it must immediately take a Leadership test.

I would say it must take several test due to wording. In Pinning it is separately mentioned that only one test is taken

The only real difference I see here is that for pinning you have to wound the unit. And for blind all you have to do is hit the unit.

Think he ment to quote,
BRB page 40 wrote:
As long as the test is passed, a unit can be called upon to take multiple Pinning tests in a single turn, but only once for each unit shooting at them .

so here it specifically states 1 per unit. Nothing like that is stated in the blind rule, I'd even argue the complete opposite is stated as it goes by model/weapon basis.

For a practical example look at Tyranid gargoyles, they're considered great tarpitters as they're pretty much garantueed to blind whatever they're hitting.

tl;dr, you take 1 blindtest per model/weapon that hits you.

Yes I agree that multiple models hitting would cause multiple blind tests.

Per model/weapon with the rule. But not a test per hit for an individual weapon. One test is required whether or not you got 1 hit or 10 with a blind weapon

What I meant to point out that it is one or more (wounds) for pinning and just hits for blind. So all the hits trigger the blind rule.

Like TotingTenderToes said those gargoyles are hard to kill in cc. Luckily they respond well to shooting.
