Hello!

I decided to practise bit my brushing and especially dry brushing technique and trying to get smoother color transitions for my new paint scheme. Its coming down nicely but I still suck as painter. New paint scheme is far easier than trying to outline armor plates with thin lines and it saves my nerves. And I like it much better. Even I say its pretty ghostly looking with not small amount malevolence. Something I was trying to for. Void phantoms or similar. Comments, tips and critique are welcome but my technique with brush is far from perfect. I hope to get this trio finished soon:

I like it and I think it looks very good. If you did not say you were practising dry brushing or using a brush, I would have thought you used air-brush!

That's very impressive results. If you can achieve that with drybrushing, it looks like there's hope for me yet...

Yeah, drybrushing since I don't have money to buy compresser and airbrush yet. I used army painter large flat vehicle brush: few thinned coats of incubi darkness when it has dried out take bit kabalite green whipe most off to paper and then dry brush raised areas and bulges several times to slowly increase the shade difference. Same using then sybarite green but much more limited use near sharp edges and highest areas of armor plating. Then edges with Anderhive as and almost whiped off brush add itty bitty anderhive ash to highest points of armor plating and it is how I made it. Basicly all armor plating was done with single brush- I was surprised how well it came.

However I need to repaint sail to Violet. yellow is bit... too bright imho. I use yellow in runes, eyes and such very limited to create high contrast spot color but sails... bit too much yellow. Sails need to be more.. Sinister Very Happy

Really impressive results with drybrushing, looks just as effective as an air brush.

I was just about to say I love the yellow sail...

Yup, your drybrushing technique is solid. I agree with you about the sail, though I am partial to purple Very Happy

Sails are purple / violet now. I am just adding bits and bronze decking. Once I get more progress, I will show the results. I really like violet / purple sails with black mast's on ghostly green armor plating.

really nice. would like to see some close ups, but more for a better critique. It definitely looks good, and on the table top i'm sure its fine, but one thing I've never like about drybrushing is how dusty it seems up close. Its kind like those weird dot pictures (shame for not remember name). They're amazing, definitely take some skill to do, but the closer you get the less intriguing they become. I'd be interested in seeing how well you blended the colors in.

Up and close some parts are bit too spotty for my taste, some part transitions are very good.- So result is uneven. I still need to practise alot. I'll get 2 more raiders and 1 more ravager and I suspect that when last one is painted I will get much more even result. I will update soon with pictures but I will go on 2 day 40K tourney. I will post pictures afterwards.

Do you think it is possible to fix the spotty parts by some blending? A glaze or wash?
