Looking for some ideas to help with a 2k list for a tourny coming up in a few months. Ideas from the Dark Eldar codex only as I have no interest in collecting Eldar (although that could change with the new codex). Also can not double the force org (Tournament rules). List is as follows so far:

Lelith - 175

2 Haemys - 100

4 Incubi - 168
Klaviex
Venom with Dual Cannons

5 Warriors - 125 x 3
Blaster
Venom with Dual Cannons
(3 units of these)

9 Wyches - 180 x 2
Hekatrix
Agonizer
Raider
(2 Units of these)

10 Warriors - 190
Sybarite w/ Venom Blade
Blaster
Raider w/ Splinter Racks

9 Reavers - 234
3 Heat Lances

2 Ravagers - 115
Flickerfields for both (I'm paranoid like that)

Razorwing - 165
Flickerfield
Splinter Cannon

Brings to 1997. Lelith with Incubi, Haemys with Wyches. Any ideas and suggestions are much appreciated.

Hi there! I have a few suggestions/comments

Quite an expensive HQ for what she does. With the incubi, giving them an archon with a PGL (& huskblade soul trap for ID fun) gets them assault grenades. The archon is also more likely to survive on his own if all the incubi are killed (not an unusual occurence).

Pain token for the wyches. If you have any spare points, throw in liquifier guns to give them a deadly gun to use while the wyches go off into assault.

These are fine. The problem is that wyches are not great front-line assault units, but they can distract from and support the incubi. What they are really good at is tank hunting with haywire grenades, so i suggest that upgrade as a priority over their other abilities, even by making the units smaller or switching agonisers for venom blades.

Sybarite armed for combat is a bit of a waste with warriors, i would just drop him entirely. The blaster seems a curious choice for a unit geared for splinter fire. A splinter cannon would be a better buy.

Great multi-use unit. If you want to add a champ upgrade to any unit, go with this one and give him/her something to hit with.

The other stuff is fine, though a single razorwing probably won't do very much.

Thanks for the info. It all looks good on paper, but makes more sense when someone points out the flaws. Updated list:

Lelith - 175

2 Haemys - 120
Liquifier Gun each

4 Incubi - 168
Klaviex
Venom with Dual Cannons

5 Warriors - 125 x 3
Blaster
Venom with Dual Cannons
(3 units of these)

9 Wyches - 178 x 2
Hekatrix
Haywire Grenades
Raider
(2 Units of these)

10 Warriors - 170
Splinter Cannon
Raider w/ Splinter Racks

9 Reavers - 234
3 Heat Lances

2 Ravagers - 115
Flickerfields for both (I'm paranoid like that)

Razorwing - 165
Flickerfield
Splinter Cannon

Lelith is there because she is only HQ owned (besides haemys) and nothing has to be purchased. Will look to see if store has an Archon model and may pick up to swap out. Swapped agonizers for grenades on wyches, added liquifiers, and cut the 10 man warrior squad down. This puts me at 1993. Swapping to the Archon or dropping the flicker from the ravagers would give me the points to add the champion or venom blades. Again, thanks for the info. This flows better for me than the other as something seemed off.

Ok, nice. I think you have something you can play test here.

Although I would urge you to spend the 10pts to get venom blades for both hekatrixes - really cheap and ups the damage output of the unit disproportionately to cost. Drop a wych, or a blaster from a warrior squad (or the SC on the razorwing) to find the points.

If you find that the flickerfields on the ravagers don't really help much, despite your paranoia tongue , then you know you can safely drop them. Then if you find that your reavers are always getting into combat. you'll know where to spend the points!

Good luck with your tournament Smile

Thanks for all the input Squire. I may have to leave that comfort zone and drop the flickers. To used to having them from 5th. That gives me an additional 20 points. With the 8pts leftover in the list, that gives me enough to put VB on both the Hekatrixes, upgrade one Reaver to an Areana Champ and give him a Venom Blade also.

Do you have any grots? if so, i have found that frots are a much better choice in just about all situations. Add Urien for S6 and extra pain tokens!!! although i know you said you dont have the HQ. And have you thought about bringing wracks? Sorry dont mean to ask useless questions i have just had better experiences with the higher toughness regions of our Dark City. 2000 points is a great point value to run them.

Point two from your list, i have found that our razorwing flyer is about as useful as a football bat. The armor 10 really doesnt do so well. Also, the missiles arent all that good either. Great for hoard armies, but against nids, anyone who has a flyrant will take it down the same turn it comes out. I would put those points elsewhere, and quite literally ignore anything flying. Its hard to do as it will usually take something out each turn, however, if you rid the flyer, you may be able to bring designated wych tank hunters in more venoms if you have the models. Or you could bring some splinterborn in venoms.... 3 shardcarbines with 2 splintercannons and venom cannons are pretty BA if you ask me. and once again if youre worried about competing with flyers.... you only have one and you only have 2 shots per turn that could really do anything. to me its just not worth the points or the time on the battle field when you could be killing, denying, or claiming objectives. also, i have found that heat lances arent all the amazing. back armor, yes but much more versatile with S8 blasters, caltrops, and bladvanes.

Outside of the Haemonculi, I haven't picked up or really looked into anything from the coven stand point. Love the models for Grots, but really hate they finecasted them to the single pose (and my converting skills aren't up to par just yet). I will eventually pick up at least a unit cause I do like to have options. I always saw them as a more WWP style.

I've had a lot of luck with the Razorwing flyer to the point of almost picking up a second. Haven't played a ton with the army, but the several I have played it's only gone down once. Other than that it tend to be that pesky annoyance that's made my opponent begin to focus on it. Would a second be more beneficial? I do like the idea of the splinterborne and may have to test a unit or two of those out to see how effective they are. Thanks for the heads up with those.

I have tried and tried to come up with a decent WWP list and I just can't seem to do it (apocalypse maybe). However they're great in raiders with aethersails. As units don't die in skimmers that have gotten shot down going full out, they make it to destination turn one for sure. S4 blast In Vehicle is laughed off by grots, and then they soak up opponents entire fire power if they're smart. Give them Urien and an archon and they're ridiculous. You give your archon T5 and give your grots SV2+ if you put him up front.

I read the post currently ongoing in the tactics area and lots of good points brought up for their value. While I don't think I get them in time for this tourny coming up, I most certainly will be picking some up and getting a feel for them for in the future. Thanks for the advise and the sell to get some.

I know you're not up for conversions at the moment, but there are a few ways to get more interesting (& cheaper) grotesques. I used plastic crypt horrors from the warhammer range and mixed them with bits from the talos kit (which has lots of heads and arms). All plastic, very easy to cut and file into shape - you will probably need to muck about with modelling putty however (GW green stuff, for example).
Something to consider if you decide later to try them in a game.

On their tactical merits, they provide an unexpectedly tough unit to escort your HQ. Lacking fleet can slow you down, and they'll get beaten going up against genuinely great assault units, but their other positive traits make up for it.
