Ok. I have built a great DE take all comers list. I am super happy with it and do well in my local scene. I am thinking about one last tweak to the troops choices. Right now I run three squads of wracks (each with a liquifier gun) in venoms and two squads of 6 Hellions for a total of five troop choices (obviously the Baron and a Haemonculi are included). In the current game I find five troops choices really helpful.

I am considering dropping the two Hellions for an additional venom with more wracks... This would give me another venom... but would reduce my troops to four... The Hellions are as shooty as the venoms, albeit with shorter range...

What is better in the current 40k game? One venom with Wrack squad... or two nude Hellion squads of 6....

"Better" is a very subjective term.

What are you planning to do with the Baron if you drop the Hellions? He doesn't serve much value without hem, and if you drop them you would tend to want to include Beasts (his other acceptable pairing) or drop the Baron and free up those points too, in which situation you may want to work in some other alternate unit.

Hard to give advice without knowing what works for you. Hellions look ok to me - they're objective takers with natural mobility, bit of firepower, powerful charge if needed, those 2 6 man squads sound like useful support units.

So why are you thinking of the Wracks in the Venom? Do you want more range? Find these guys are the stars of the show? Are the Hellions not doing well?

And what else is in your list?

On face value, I wouldn't change things... but would like to hear more of your logic.

While I don't really want to get into list analysis (this isn't the spot for that), here's the list:

Baron
2x haemonculi w LG
2x 6 incubi in a raider with sails and flicker.
1x beast pack with birds and clawed fiend
3x 5 wracks with LG in venom with splinter cannon and night shield
2x 6 hellion
2x ravager w/ flicker and nightshield
1x voidraven bomber w missiles

The venoms sit back blasting stuff while the incubi and beasts draw all the attention. The wracks and venoms usually survive... I love that the wracks can survive if their rides get shot down. They bring pain tokens... but the hellions... die pretty quick. I guess I am wondering if the trade is worth it. Two Hellions for one venom with wracks.

With the ability to slip the Baron into the Beasts - yes, I would do that trade in a second. If I wanted to keep the Hellions I would tend to combine them into one unit of 12 in any case. The reason your hellions die quick is that they're just 6 models with T3 and tissue paper shirt saves running around the field - they're not survivable and thus are of limited value to you as objective holders in any case.

5 wracks is not reall enough for an assault unit so go 3 as a cheap venom or 10., if your using them for venoms you dont want to be in liquifier range ... Helions are expensive for whgat they do ..

Also you got way too much assault , helions , wrack , beasts , incubii. maybe get some scatterborn which will make the others more likely to succeed in their assaults. 1 scatter born = 4 SC =2 Venom

Personally id drop the helions and beasts ( so your whole army can redeployable) , swap baron for a haemi so wracks are troops ..

And go like this

Elites
Incubi ( same)
2 * Scatterborn

Troops
10 * Wracks with liquifiers ASsault

5 * Wyches with haywire ( assault vs vehicles and weakened)
10 * Wracks or 10* Whyches
3 * Wracks in venom with 2 SC ( long range shooter) as many as you have points left

This way you have different units for different rolls,


Not sure if flickershield is worth it on teh ravengers you got the nightshield and you can move . Most of the time you will move and fire so get your save. Its only vs a hand full of troops.

Thanks for the tips. I am going to try out running the four venoms with wracks as troops and see how it works. I'll be sure to let y'all know.
