Hello,

Is the following play legal:

Start of game:

Empty Raider (with sails)
Urien Rakarth + 3 grotesques + 1 abberation standing next to the Raider
4 Incubi + 1 Klavex standing next to Urien Rakarth

First turn:
Urien Rakarth gives 1 pain token to the Klavex.
Urien Rakarth, grotesques, and abberation embark onto the Raider.
Raider moves flat out 18 inches + 2d6 inches

Second turn:
Raider moves 6 inches.
Urien Rakarth, grotesques, and abberation disembark 6 inches.
Urien Rakarth, grotesques, and abberation charge 2d6 inches.
OR
Urien Rakarth, grotesques, and abberation disembark 6 inches.
Raider moves 6-12 inches, to provide cover to the units from overwatch.
Urien Rakarth, grotesques, and abberation charge 2d6 inches.

You can only move the Raider 6 inches before disembarking

Am I missing something? Isn't that what I said in round 2 option a?

Sorry posting on my mobile and can't edit my posts. Was trying to go on to say that you can move as normal if they disembark before the vehicle moves so both are valid for turn 2

Yes both those moves are legal. Even better if you start 2-3 empty raiders near your grot unit, that way you have a good chance of one still being around to fly you to the target. It also forces your opponent to shoot empty raiders. Smile

How does this work then?

I may be wrong, because I'm not very experienced at modern 40k, but as I understand it the only way Rakarth can give his pain token to the Incubi is to be in their squad and then leave it, sharing the pain. This would require him to be deployed as part of the Incubi unit, not merely next to it.

You could do this, but then I don't think he's allowed to leave one unit (Incubi) and join another (Grots) in the same turn. Also it would mean the Grots were not accompanied at the start of their turn, so might Rampage, which would be really bad next to all those other guys.

Good point. What about this:

Start:
1 Raider with 9 wyches
1 Raider empty
Grots (1 + D3 pain tokens) + Haemonculus (1 pain token)
Urien Rakarth (1 pain token) + Incubi

First Turn:
Grots move on empty raider
Roll of 1: with 1 pain token
Roll of 2: with 2 pain tokens
Roll of 3: with 2 pain tokens
Urien Rakarth move on Grots raider
Roll of 1: with 1 pain token
Roll of 2: with 0 pain tokens
Roll of 3: with 0 pain tokens
Haemonculus move on Wyches raider
Roll of 1: with 2 pain tokens
Roll of 2: with 2 pain tokens
Roll of 3: with 3 pain tokens
Incubi move on foot
Roll of 1: with 0 pain tokens
Roll of 2: with 1 pain token
Roll of 3: with 1 pain token
Grots Raider moves flat out 18+2d6 inches
Wyches Raider moves flat out 18 inches

Second Turn:
Grots and Urien disembark 6 inches
Raider goes to provide cover for Grots and Urien from overwatch
Grots and Urien charge 2d6 inches
Wyches and Haemonculus disembark 6 inches in slightly different directions so it's clear the Haemonculus separates from the Wyches squad
Roll of 1 - 2: with 1 pain token each
Roll of 3: with 2 pain tokens on wyches, 1 on haemonculus
Raider goes to provide cover for Wyches and Haemonculus from overwatch
Wyches charge with fleet (3)d6 inches and phantasm grenade launcher
Haemonculus charge 2d6 inches

First Turn:
Grots move on empty raider (keeping only 3 pain tokens)
Urien Rakarth move on Grots raider (with zero pain tokens)
Haemonculus move on Wyches raider (with 3-5 pain tokens)

The unit of Grots starts with one pain token (plus any extra from Rakarth), not one per model. But even if they did have as many as you suggest, they have to split them as evenly as possible when sharing: so if you do have eight, you need to keep four when the IC leaves (taking the other four).

Edited the quoted post -- how about that?

Your Grots don't start with +d3 pain tokens as Ben_S stated previously. Urien's ability allows you to give d3 units a pain token, not d3 pain tokens to 1 unit. The max they'll start with (by themselves) is 2.
