THE GOOD:

Klaives are AP2! Hooray! Drazhars counter-hits are AP2 as well!

The Huskblade is AP2!

Our Shadowseers work like the Eldar ones!

Baron gets his bonus strength on Hammer of Wrath! The only model in the game as far as I can tell that gets a bonus!

THE BAD:

Pain Tokens don't take effect until the end of the phase (so if we kill an IC in assault for Fearless, we could still fall back).

Lady Malys does NOT cheat the reserve rule.

Helliarchs can't take ICs who were in a challenge (this seems a bit odd, since it doesn't happen until after all attacks anyway, but oh well).

Implosion missiles have no effect on Eternal Warriors.

Drazhar can't use Darting Strike to mess with the challenge system.

THE... NEUTRAL:

Reavers hits are randomly assigned.

You CAN flat out after you use Aethersails (didn't know this was debateable).

The reaver one is a nightmare, the daemon slashing attack was so well written. Now i need to look forward to spending 5 minutes everytime I resolve my bladevane attacks. Sad

On the bright side, your opponents can't reliably hide models from the Reavers.

Also, the Grey Knight FAQ that said Mandrakes are Daemons, also clarifies that they are not Daemons in a rulebook sense...

So with the change with the Harlequins:

Can we start taking DE Harlequins now?

I'm just a tiny bit disappointed that there was nothing in there about wyches. Oh well.

I think we're off the centre stage for the foreseeable future. Hardly seemed to last! Then again, look at the little update daemons got in White Dwarf. I expect we'll get something like that eventually without having to wait for a new codex. Maybe in a year or two...

In the meantime, hey, incubi are good again, huskblades are scary, and mandrakes got slapped down just in case they were starting to think there was a point to them (sorry, couldn't resist!) Otherwise I'm thinking... not much has changed?

Also, looking at the BRB update, units that ignore terrain during the movement phase still need grenades for charging through it. Poor beasts. Sad
The Eldar FAQ might also have ruled out the Harlie star with super Shadowfields? What's your reading of the wording?

What about jump infantry and jetbikes which "move over" terrain?

Uh I don't know?
Something else: Eternal Warriors don't get FnP against instagib weapons. Drazhar isn't really immortal anymore. Razz

The rulebook FAQ finally resolves the Hammer of Wrath discussion we had aswell a while ago.
P. 4 Q: "When a model makes a Vector Strike or a Hammer of Wrath..."
A: "No."

And then contradicts it.

Q: Does Baron Sathonyx’ Custom Skyboard add +2 Strength to his
Hammer of Wrath attacks? (p48)
A: Yes.

So many contratictions in all these FAQs. Sad

I don't find that contradicting. Whatever is not explicitly named now, does not benefit.

So the Baron does and the rest doesn't... Seems simple enough to me IMHO.

Remember (FAQ codex > ) Codex > (FAQ BRB > ) BRB

It's still funny, and poor form. Smile

Also it seems Reavers bladevanes cannot hit flying monstrous creatures rules faq p.3, first question.

For the reavers assualting through terrain, I would look at it this way:
1) If you start or end in difficult terrain you are reduced to i 1 even though we ignore the dangerous terrain test due to a special rule, that's pretty clear now with the FAQ.
2) If there is a piece in the middle of the charge that you completely pass over, then the FAQ doesn't apply since it said you if go through difficult terrain, it didn't say if you fly over it but that would be between you and your opponent.

Grey Knight Paladins are only characters when they are "Leading a unit", which is the most unclear thing I've ever heard

And the best news of all: If you blow up a non-Assualt transport on your turn your opponent doesn't get to assualt on their next turn Mwahahahah

Where do you see that?

I see an entry that says that units that go through must take a difficult terrain test, but the Beast entry specifically says they are not slowed by it, so a test would be impossible.

Unless I'm missing something else, or maybe not reading it right.

The entry that says they only work when leading doesn't not include Paladins.

EDIT: Stupid double negatives.

Page 3 in the German BRB FAQ, 12th question, I believe.

Just could have been worded "When joined to a non-Paladin unit", or "When or joined to a non-paladin unit that doesn't already contain a character as part of the unit" then it would actually line up to gaming terms. But I shouldn't complain

It's not specific to beasts, it is in the 40K rulebook FAQ. Under FAQs, page 3, bottom left.

Quote :
Q: Do models that ignore when moving or charging
still fight at Initiative step 1 if they charge through difficult terrain?
(p22)
A: Yes.

BTW, thank god you can search and copy/paste the FAQs again, hated that they weren't searchable last time.

Every round of FAQs makes this game more complicated with back-and-forth wordings and ridiculous restrictions. Honestly, I'm ready to go back to 5th Edition right now (okay, maybe bring a few good ideas with me).

idk, we'll see how I feel about it tomorrow... :/

No they haven't, because we've now gone through no less than three rounds of rules changes the first being 6E itself, which a lot of us are still trying to wrap our heads around, considering it's written in the form: "You can do this," and then "except when you want to do it like this," in a completely different part of the book. It went from permissive ruleset to "hunt for the exception to the rule." One has to know where all the puzzle pieces are on many different pages just so he can put them together and discern the actual way to proceed, and that's just darned annoying.

Compared to that, 5E had a few stinkers every once in a while, but at least it was obvious where to look for the darn thing. Most of 5th was really good though, which is why I'm even more upset when I keep finding stupid changes that pop up like little rotten easter eggs.

That followed by two sets of additions to the FAQs (not to mention the wierd stuff that got grandfathered in), which we must somehow remember to look at when flipping from page to page, or even when dealing with a situation that would work just fine without an FAQ and happens to have some arbitrary ruling just to squash every ounce of fun out of the game.

Yeah, I've about had it.

So for the first time GW are supporting and updating the game to make it more balanced and answering rules issues in a semi reasonable time frame and that's a problem?

It's new so feels more complex and the changes are significant hence the need for FAQ and errata...

It's still the best versio of 40k to date for me having played all 6
