Well, here it is. There's an obvious mistake on the left boob as you look at it, and some other errors, but I'm fairly happy.

Feedback appreciated.

Tester Model - Armor Armortester

I'm going to have all my splinter guns based on the needle rifle in Halo: Reach (because in my head, that's what all the splinter weapons are - supercombine win!), so blue/ purple/ silver metals with pink ammo pods. Hair is dark red. Skin (wyches etc.) will be palid blue (stolen from my vampires).

The parchmenty loincloth things are bothering me though. Not sure how to do them.

The blue is very vivid and striking. I like this very much.

The loincloth is a bit of a let down when compared to the rest. I think the contrast is off. One thing that will make it stand out a bit more is if you add a little orange to it, you could even wash it or glaze it with orange so it has a hint of color, that would do it wonders without having this massivlely orange towel hangin' fromn his trousers.

BTW, if you didn't know, orange is a natural contrast to blue, so they play off each other fairly well. I don't know what you background is so...

I feel I should point out that I do mean just a hint of orange. Like a very pale orange color, not that it dominates the paint scheme, but makes it more interesting, visually. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks GAR.

The loincloth, gun and other paraphernalia have not been attempted at all yet; they're only undercoated on this tester, as I was focussing on the armor so far. I kind of don't really know where to start with the loincloth..

I didn't know that orange was the contrast to blue (my background is mostly science and law!). I think I'll go for a striking orangy red hair (think eldar ginger) and might do some tassles or trinkets orange.

That blue is really good, could you give us a breakdown of the colours you used to achieve it please?

Yea sure. It's all Vellejo model color.

1. Dark prussian blue onto all armor flat surfaces except for near where armor plates meet. Effectively leave black as your darkest band of highlight.

2. Medium edge highlight Royal Blue.

3. Fine edge highlight Royal Blue 50/50 Deep Sky Blue.

4. V. Fine edge highlight only on angles and corners Deep Sky blue.

There's some andrea blue and some medium blue in there too, as its a tester, but I think those (above) are the layers that worked.

I really like that blue! That strong glow really reminds me of Starcraft Ghosts. Really want to see how it'll look finished!

I guess I should really order some Vallejo paints and try them out, many of them seem to have such a bright colour to them.
