Kabal of the Dark Mirror

Made my first Dark Eldar purchase today. I picked up the Codex and Battleforce, plus a Finecast Archon and a box of Incubi.
(awesome minis btw )

I'm planning on painting them up in the Dark Mirror color scheme using the tutorial on the GW site. For those of you who aren't familiar with the colors, it looks like this in the end:

I really like their color scheme. If I wasn't such a DIY junkie, I would have followed suit.

That is a nice colour scheme. It should be quite quick to achieve as well. They will look menacing and like no-nonsese killers with simple armour. More time spent killing and less time spent painting pretty pictures on their clothes- they aren't Tau after all.

Got some of the models built today. Here's the Archon and the Incubi:


Here's the Reaver Jetbikes. The one in the center has the Heat Lance and Blaster magnetized, and the one on the right has the Cluster Caltrops and Grav-Talon magnetized.


Some Kabalite Warriors. The Dark Lance and Splinter Cannon are magnetized, as are the Blaster and Shredder.


And here's the Wyches. Nothing magnetized here.


I haven't built the Raider yet. I don't really know how far to go in the assembly before I should stop and start painting - any tips?

I'd paint the whole thing individually before gluing it together. However, you can more or less build the hull and paint it, but do the riders, crew and sail separately.

I'm builing up to 1250 (the most my group can field presently) before I start painting.

When I'll paint my raider, I will probably paint the sail apart from the rest.

Question: Were any of the klaives bended when you got them?

You can snap together much of the Raider without gluing it and see where you can't reach once it's glued. For instance, there's an area under the floor grating and above the engines that is impossible to reach.

No, I lucked out and had very little in the way of Finecast issues. The only exception is that one of the blades that articulate to the rear torso of one of the Incubi had a little bubble in it, that made the blade snap in two. This was an easy fix with just a little bit of super glue, however.
Anyways, a little update. I've been slacking off when it comes to painting these guys, but I did get around to at least basecoating them (minus the Reavers and Raider ) today. I also came up with a symbol for the Kabal of the Dark Mirror in photoshop:

Hopefully, I'll feel energized enough to bust out my camera and take some pictures as I continue to paint my budding force. I'm going to be entering the Archon in my local GW's Finecast painting competition on the 26th, so wish me luck!
