this list looks alot like my list so i like it alot, and for dukes raider with his trueborn, im not completely sure about this but i dont think the splinter racks work with splinter cannon/shard carbines, only with splinter rifles. But anyway, this is a really good list in my opinion

PostSubject: Re: Trying out the Duke at 1750   Trying out the Duke at 1750 I_icon_minitimeWed Jul 11 2012, 13:47

Hi,

The Duke model is really good, and I particularly like how the double bladed sword turned out. Did you pin in, or was there the space for the glue to create a strong enough bond. I'm tempted to steal the idea for a Baron conversion I'm considering Smile

Onto the list I think on the whole it is a very good list, however there's a few upgrades I do not think will add much to the army. First up is the power axes in the warrior squads, being unwieldly (Init1) it's likely the sybarite will be taken out before he can strike, either in a challenge, or with a precession strike. This is compoundedwith the fact that the warriors (and the trueborn) do not want to be in combat at all, and the poweraxe will rarely save them from dying anyway.

Next is the splinter racks on the trueborn's raider. I think they only work on splinter rifles and pistols and therefore do nothing for the squad.

Finally is the razorwing upgrades. Apart from Nightshields will the rest be used that often. As you can fire only 4 weapons while zooming how often will the cannon be fired ? The shatterfield missiles are cheap, but I'd drop them back to monoscythe if you need the points elsewhere.

Where do you spend these points if you drop some of the upgrades I suggest ?

Well I suggest increasing one of the wych squads to a larger size. The large trueborn squad is a perfect squad for the Duke to start in, but they really don't want to be in combat, a larger wych squad would make a great place for the Duke to move to. 63 points would increase the wyches to 9 (including haywire grenades and hekatrix with venom blade), and I think you can afford this without losing any models. 2 x sybarite upgrades (20), 2 power axes (30), splinter racks (5?), 2 shatterfield missiles reverted to monoscythe missiles (10), that makes the 65 points to increase one of the the wych squads (Their venom also switches to a raider).

Wyches?!!

Why?

Did someone threaten your family?

Are you under duress right now?

Blink if you are and I'll summon the authorities.

I'll echo the others in saying that the splinter racks are redundant unfortunately. I also worry about the vulnerability of Duke's unit, that's over 400pts that will go down quite easily, your opponent will gun for the 2 quick VPs they could get for taking them out quickly; if that Raider explodes most of the squad will die. I think the Dracon is a bit unnecessary.

I'd also add a Flickerfield to the Razorwing to make it that much more survivable.

This will be my last Army list, till i put some games in,

On my modeling side i am in the midst if refurbishing my old DE warriors with new parts from my new DE bit box they actually look kinda cool and gives this old skool veteran look to them

Some improvements
- Basically i put a little more punch with my wyches so that they can not only blast stuff but have one cc unit that can do the mop up. They are also optimized to take out tanks if need be.

- My warriors now carry blasters instead of shredders, Took out the sybarite for more points

- Retooled my razorwing, to cost less

- Retooled my Trueborn, i added another guy and reduce the dracon weapon to a venom blade... i know its a point wastage, but i kinda modeled a cool looking guy so i taught what the hell might as well put him in for fun sake

If they really really need to charge they are quite decent, actually it has more attacks than the wyches as their guns are all assault and has 2 base attacks per model. something like 27 poison shots, 1 blaster shot, 24 attacks on a charge, 4 2+ poison attacks and, 5 2+ poison 5+ ignore armour attacks

Thats 61 dices in a turn!
