"Admission"? Where can I find the source for this, I REALLY want to read this verbatum.
I should be outrated, but it just explains too much.

here is the link to the official article found on the Warhammer Community
Near the middle of the article, named "How Did This Happen?" they clearly states that they only tested it against recently released codices

This really makes me wish they would release every codex at the same time that way ita more believable that they are actually play tested against each other

and that's likely to be *pre-nerf* Tyranids and Aeldari.

At least people aren't complaining about us any more. Plus all the people swapping from one flavor of the month to the next are making it so that second-hand retailers are glutted with cheap models to expand our collections. It's incredible how quickly people give up on armies just because something stronger was released. I, for one, am looking forward to getting the rest of my coven on the cheap.

I wonder, how vulnerable Votann armies are to Morale Bombs? Maybe a DC Coven list offers some nice tricks...

With their nerfs, it looks like it will be a much more balanced match.

They still have army-wide AoC and No Rerolls To Wound. But their Fight On Death unit has been pointed out of must lists. And they are not taking Aircraft that we litterally cannot punch (outside Hellions and Taloi).

My current thought process is to swap out some Grots for Succubi/Bloodbrides. 3 units of Incubi plus some light Cult support should be able to punch most of them to death. IIRC their Land Raider equivalents are not -1 damage, so our D2 +1 To Wound units should be able to slice and dice.

Thats my theory anyway. Havent actually played into them yet. Still trying to figure out how to deal with Competitive Necrons and their blasted Silent King (curse his Fight Last aura!).

Stay Edgy, my fellow Archons Wink

Has anyone played against the new Daemon codex? From what I've seen, it doesn't seem to be tremendously popular with Daemon players.

Samurai, I have played against and with the new codex. I disagree it mostly the old Daemon player playing it. What you you might be noticing is that people have to figure out the right combination with their style or figuring out a new play style. Some of the reason you not seeing it all I believe is the unpredictable saves.

I know this is not much insight but it a start.

I've played one game against them, although it was just mono-slaanesh, they had some hard-hitting stuff, but it's fairly the same glass-cannon that they were before. Greater daemons are great fun and I love their current form.

That being said slaanesh did seem kinda week, although it was their first game with the codex.

Ive only played into them while piloting Tau. Tau do not enjoy Tzzench 3++ across the whole army XD

Seems killable for DE in combat, which is where we want to be. Demons also tend to give up Secondaries, which is always nice.

Guard, the final codex of 9th edition has finally gotten spoiled.

Secondaries remain the same, so their battleplan will be to occupy the mid board and shoot their tanks from the back of their DZ. Very similar to how Necrons operate (but with codex-creep powered shooting). They will be aiming for 40 points on their secondaries, which can be reasonably achieved by occupying the mid board.

Going to be difficult to stop their scoring plan, but they shouldent be much more difficult to kill than Knights, etc. Bullgryn getting -1 damage isnt ideal (especially when they are buffed by psykic defences).

Doubt we will need to change our plan much to deal with them. Pressure early, pressure often. Kill the infantry squads ASAP. Hellions will be important to cut thru tanks/infantry blobs. Wyches might even be needed to blend their hoards of infantry. We still cannot stand in the open, and Grotesque durability cannot be relied upon (not that we were able to do that pre-Guard).

Could have been worse for us. At least the Aircraft dont seem to be auto-includes, unlike their incredibly deadly horses or incredibly durable tanks

Looking at the new guard codex I wonder if this means GW is taking a step back from the "choose an obsession and that is your army" and is doing a more in depth "make your own obsession" kind of thing

Yeah. The rumor is that the Guard dex would be a heavy indicator of where 10th edition will be going. It also streamlines things a bit without removing tactical options. I suspect it might be easier to rebalance in future patches - you just pick and adjust the specific options that need to be adjusted, rather than having to mess with a subfaction with several different rules in each.

Awesome ... im now very curious as to what our 10th edition codex is going to look like ... hopefully it won't have us split into 3 sub armies

Uh, why is everybody saying, Astra Militarum is the last 9th Codex? There is still one to come.

So instead of an obsession that gives you 2 rules + extra stuff like relics, you just choose 2 rules and choose an extra relic. I fail to see the significant difference.

I'd much rather see the way force organisation is done completely revised. Mixing and matching specialized units is a lot of fun and I absolutely love the way our army is structured. Especially in terms of painting and modelling it really invites to make each separate army group just a little different.

All specialist detachments (Vanguard, Spearhead, Outriders) are just completely uncreative. This was a nice initial try for 8th edition but just hasn't aged well. I'd much rather see something completely new.

Personally, I thought that the 7th edition options of CAD, Allied Detachment, and specific detachments available to each army, were fine (it was formations, along with the latter-half codex creep, that really started screwing up 7th ed). Then again, I wouldn't mind if 10th edition just used the Horus Heresy system (aka 7.5), as it seems to have fixed all of the problems that I actually had with 7th (e.g. not being able to charge out of reserve). Of course, this would only work if we actually had good army rules this time.
