To me its clearly meant to represent this new miniature teased already in https://youtu.be/2nlnfxNgcAg?t=15

The thing is that the teased mini is barefoot while the one on the cover clearly wears boots. Usually they dont ignore such details between artwork and actual miniature

On the other hand, wych armour is asymmetrical, just one arm and one leg with armour plates and only one shoulder pad. When they don't ignore such details, the possibility that it is just a common wych is even lower.

Another detail are the two blades, the only unit that can equip two blades right now is the Queen of Knives, that title also would fit the additional knives. But the two blades don't look identical. The one in the right hand seems to have a power cell (a powersword?), the other is lacking the cell and has a different handle.

If it is not artistic freedom or the artist actually never seeing the new Lelith model, she is something not in our codex right now.

And seeing Lilith lead an army of Kabalites doesn't make sense to begin with.

i'm pretty sure it's not Lelith but only a regular Wytch, but, IF it is Lelith, than i'm really happy:
This will means that Lelith has not left the Drukhari to join the Ynari! This will means that she's still one of us! Cause last time we heard of her, she was traveling with Yvraine! (note that i don't read the books but only the Codexes so.....maybe i'm wrong regarding the ''last time we heard of her'')

She is following Yvraine just because she want to find Lucius. Take it into the Arenas and duel with him.

She is there under the command of Vect. Don't worry Wink

I've never seen Wych artwork or models in Kabalite armour, would be a first if it was.

if you look at the 8th edition Codex, you see an Incubi, but if i'm not mistaken, it is NOT wielding a Klaive.....does this means he's not an Incubi? (and they don't do ''Magic'' with their right hand neither....unless there is an invisible smoke cigarette in his hand)
No, i think it's just a drawings with the ''rule of cool'' included.....that's it, that's all, we are not in Da Vinci Code here where everything must have a meaning Wink

Of course Lelith joins forces with Kabalites and every Archon with half a brain would organize from further back, if she wants to be at front. Page 26 in 8th edition codex as an example, where Vect even asked her to take the spotlight.

And if you open the codex on the grey picture you can actually recognize the latest archon model. Normally GW makes sure the centerpieces in their artworks are easily recognizable, especiably on covers, that is why i find this lady in the center of the new cover so strange.

The 8th edition codex cover is an archon holding a soul trap.   Not an Incubi

Pretty much the same as now. But 1 of us had access the the codex (with non-disclosure clauses, off course), and he said it was a "solid" codex. It was.... for 3 weeks, until we've got hit by the rule of 3.

Actually, it was parallel. After I pushed send I realised that Kalmah was talking about the cover, it was a little late I realized that if you don't know the miniature you may think it is an incubus. The later edit had nothing to do with that. When I saw your post I was actually thinking about undoing my edit, then I thought at least the picture is additional info.

Our Archon should have the option to have the helmet or not.

Welcome to the club, I think most Drukhari players think so. The old Archon was first metal then finecast. When they started to move away from finecast, they redid our finecast HQs in plastic and the Archon draw the short straw. The other two kept quite close to the original design.

It really speaks for itself if even GW prefers to show an Archon kitbash instead of showing the original one (Sslyth entry).

But exchanging those arms and adding an Incubi Helmet goes a long way to make it look like an actual menace (personally, I like to cut off the Huskblade from the hand and glue it on top of a staff).

What? There are players that still achieve good positions in 9th with this Codex. It IS and STILL a solid one.
It's just a brain codex, as it should have been since the beginning.

But let's talk about rumors. Adam Troke says that this new Codex will be a rework of the entire army itself. New settings, new profiles, new mechanics...

So, how do they will change the Power from Pain rule for you? Let's chat

personally, i'm pretty happy the way PFP works right now.
BUT, if it were to change, one way i would see it is:
Additional bonus for melee combat (the closer they are to the enemy, the more they can feel their pain after all). As for the range weapons, include a rule inspired by the Rapid Fire (if half range, +1 to hit, or +1 damage or +1 S or AP.....something like that).

Another one i would see, the bonus granted by PFP is increased not by the passage of time, but instead, as more and more units (enemy and friendly) are removed from the field, their power increases. That would reflect well the increased savagery as the battle become fiercer and fiercer.

Likewise. The old Archon just looked so much more menacing than Mr. Grapefruit-for-a-head.

I think it speaks volumes that GW has consistently used the old Archon on the cover art. Laughing

I'd like to see this, too. I was wondering how it could be done, given that you could be facing anything from a horde of guardsmen to an Imperial Knight.

Maybe count units removed by Power Level?

Sounds great the counting of Power Level, that way, hordes armies or Elite armies would be treated equally. And this system would'nt be that complicated to keep track.

That is actually how power from pain used to work back in 5th edition.

For every unit your unit killed, you got a pain token.  Each pain token unlocked a subsequent power from pain ability.   So the more you killed, the more powerful you got.   If I recall, the first pain token was a 4+ feel no pain (God I miss those days!  LOL)

So many of us ended up modelling pain tokens to go with our units so that you could keep track of what pain level they were at.

(as a complete aside... splinter cannons were Assault 6 guns back then too. Sigh. The good old days)

I wouldn't mind a return to pain tokens- I like having more reasons to run larger units and it would be an additional way to punish opponents who take MSU. This kind of bookkeeping exists in Crusade games already.

The bonuses just need to be more universal or even separated due to keyword (kabal, cult, coven). Right now they favor melee units.

5th was just a better book and it was the same point levels as now for the most part. Also PfP kind of sucked when vehicles got the kill or when you killed a vehicle. That should have been changed a bit.

Personally I don't want to guess what will change in the new book, but I can not see them going back to a token system per unit.

That's fine. It's not like killing an imperial knight would quench our thirst anyway. They should count the model removed.

0-9 - first bonus
10-19 - second bonus
20-29 - third bonus

You count both your opponent's model and your own.

You add a stratagem allowing you to count removed model from an unit twice for a round.
