So the new edition is coming and there work be a RTT on release day of the new edition. In 8th I ran a very flyer heavy list with 3 Razorwings and 0-2 Voidraven bombers. With the new edition I just don't see drukhari fliers being all that great considering their large point cost, so I have to move to other heavy support to supplement the loss in firepower.

You will find the list below.

The Hammer; 1 patrol Black heart detachment of 2xKabalite warriors with blasters. Can threaten high T targets, kill 1W models and clear objectives. Can also screen objectives if necessary. The heavy support will be either 2xReapers or 2xRavagers (3 dissies) supported by writ of the living muse. Perhaps even 1 ravager with 1 reaper?

The Anvil: Prophet of Flesh. 5 Talos with haywire, 5 grotesque and two 5 man squads of Wracks. Perfect for holding objectives and threaten any army in CC. Also fantastic vehicle killers. The Talos alone can threaten any position on the board.

The Nail: Drazhar, 5 wyches and 9 reaver jetbikes with heatlances and grav-talons. The reavers can fill many strategical positions. They can go up in the face of the opponent to force them to fall back (so they can't shoot). They can find and attempt to kill enemy characters. They can zoom up the board to control a point in order to obtain hold 2 or hold more. They can focus on killing enemy infantry so they cannot raise flags. I think they have a ton of use. They will most likely die by turn 2 or 3 but by then any shots into them isn't a shot on my talos or grotesques which means they are should be at full strength up in the opponents face by then.

In your opinion, should I take reapers or ravagers?

I have been pondering reapers as well. Do we confirmation on the pts cost for forgeworld?

9th DL ravager - 145
9th DC ravager - 160
9th reaper - ???

Not having tried forgeworld units, do local tournaments generally allow the normal rule of 3? Or are they still butthurt from 7th when forgeworld was less balanced?

I was thinking of going back to lances like at the start of 8th because of the extra DC cost. 145pts for DL ravagers seems to hurt less than most of our other new point options. If the reaper really stays at 150pts I would consider 3 of both spread 2 v 2 v 2 across three patrols. But I would imagine they have to adjust the forgeworld points up as well?

9th Reaper is 150 points confirmed by leaks. Rule of 3 is applied even for FW as far as I know.

Dark lances are not good enough regarding volume of shots. 3 shots vs 9 are a huge difference and even the increase in dissie price can undo that.

I'm doing 3 Ravagers 1 Reaper, with Reaper being able to stop advancements, still fine for its points for D6 Lances, i think its a steal for 1.

Yeah, I tweaked my list and put talos down to 4 instead of five. This gives me the possibility to get 1 Reaper into the list to stop advancements as you said. I know there will be at least 1 Harlequinn so it will surely pay for itself in just 1 turn Wink

Reaper seems strait up better than DL ravager. 145 v 150. For five points you get +2 wounds, prevent advance, option for infantry attacks, and more CC attacks if stuff gets real. With the new points I'm not excited for venom spam or flyers, so is it time for bringing 3 DC ravagers AND 3 reapers?

I'm able to fit all 6 in a 2K list with drazar, yncarne, and a couple other loose ends.

Apparently both the Beam AND the Blast profiles for the Storm Vortex Projector are now blast weapons. Something to consider. For 150 points, I think the Reaper deserves his name.

Removes snake eyes from your 2d6 roll I guess... The Blast profile doesn't play nice with our 2d projector or 3d missile rolls. I guess there is a fringe case if you shooting lances at a unit of 6+ you are guaranteed 3-6 shots, but that seems like a sub-optimal plan to start with.

I meant to say, certainly doesn't hurt. I'm working on some reaper conversions right now.
