Hello together!

Coming from the boring side of the galaxy (Imperium) to the Dark City of Commorragh to have some real 'fun' now.

This is my first attempt for playing Drukhari at 2000pts ITC. However, I do have some questions about different units and their utility.

The list:

The plan:

- Venoms plus Warriors and Wracks (5) for board control (Recon) and dealing with infantry
- Flyers doing flyers things.....get me Behind Enemy Lines and do some pressure
- Wracks (10) for screening / sitting behind / coming back over the edge
- Yncarne for a little psychic support, also has decent use as mobile beatstick and for movement shenanigans.....or at least sitting in the back, waiting for a decent counter punch (together with Drazhar and the Haemonculus)
- Mandrakes and Scourges deep striking where they will be needed

The questions:

I'm not sure about the Scourges and their weapon choices. I guess they won't last long after dropping from deep strike. So their use is purely as an alpha strike unit. For that purpose I'm looking at haywire (good against vehicle, okayish against infantry) and shredders (good against infantry, but there is Auspex Scan...)
So maybe I'll cut them to get some more Mandrakes. It's a solid unit, I guess. It has a small enough foot print to deep strike in the enemies deployment zone. OR...the other way around...cutting Mandrakes and get a second unit of Scourges.

Warlord and Relics: Is there any use of buffing up the Archon with Hatred Eternal and the Djin Blade or should I stay with Drazhar? I guess the Vexator Mask for the Haemonculus is almost an auto-include against any armies with melee threats.

Do you have any other tips for me to improve the list? And thanks in advance, at least for reading!  Very Happy

I'd recommend keeping your Venoms cheap skipping the 2nd splinter cannon. Trust me, they have enough shots to kill things. Especially within 12".

Scourges are generally a compedative list building no-no. They die way too fast and you can't fire and fade to hide them because of their huge wings. I agree with you to swap them for more Mandrakes as they will have more staying power with -1 to hit and 5+ invul.

Wracks aren't made for shooting. Keeping them as barebone as possible is generally a better option when listbuilding. They are great at holding positions but lacks the movement and CC damage of wyches. Still love them tho!

Yeah, I thought about that too. Keep it all cheap. This way I could save 105pts. Venoms only with one cannon, no special weapons on wracks at all and a second unit of mandrakes instead of the scourges.

Now I could play another unit of warriors with a shredder in a venom. Or a raider for additional (minor) long range fire support and transport capability for the bigger unit of wracks. Or just more mandrakes?! Other ideas? I really like the ossefactor....it's a nice addition against elite infantry. But it's 1 shot per unit....so I can see the point.

Also another issue crossed my mind: You want to be the Attacker with this list, I guess. How do you play it as Defender? Especially against a heavy shooting list. Do you then deep strike all the flyers?

I've been playing against a Tau with triptide and I usually want to be attacker. Defender however isn't that bad. Since it's a roll of the dice anyway you'd really want to keep a backup plan. You could for example keep keep 2-3 planes in deep strike with screaming jets. This is great to make sure they don't get shot off the board in the first turn (again, esp. against tau with triptide).

If I'm defender I'd keep all my stuff as hidden as possible. If there is something I can't keep out of line of sight I would probably put them in deepstrike. Force your opponent to either shoot a Venom or at a squad of Wracks in the first turn and then fly out from behind the rocks and devestate your opponent Wink

I really like the inclution of Yncarne. Seems quite strong but has to be played well in order to pull him off.

Yeah, I think it's hard to make him worth his points....but I like his teleporting ability and I hope a lot of players are not completly aware of it. At least it will make them some headache. We will see. I probably can play the list this week for the first time. (third game with Drukhari models in general).

About the planes again.....I'm not very familiar playing flyers. Every time I played against Drukhari, sooner or later it was very easy to force them flying accross the table edge. Are there any major hints to avoid that? I think planning ahead will do the trick?!

They have to pivot up to 90 degrees. This means you have 90 degrees to play with when moving. Place them with care and in a corner thinking ahead 2 turns. If you pivot, say, 45 degrees and fly 20" or more, where does it end up? What can it see, and where can it go from there? Since you can move 20"-72" (Unsure of the maximum) you have the entire board to fly around on. I met a hoard orc player once in a 1250p game and not even he could kill off my planes by placing his units in the way and this was on a 4x4 field. Since the planes shoot extremely far anyway all you need to do is think about LOS and placement. Also, don't be afraid to sacrefice your voidraven if nessecary to get a good void mine off. Use the mine on a large vehicle you need dead or a large unit that you really need dead. Even if you die from movement the next turn it could easily make it worth it. Once I saw a guy sack 2xVoidravens to kill some crazy large Tyranid shooty monster squad. It won him the game (and he had 3 razorwings left to run around the board and kill stuff with).

Sorry, just skimming through here. Two minor comments

1 - Flyers cannot get Behind Enemy Lines, its noted in the description of the secondary objective

2 - Scourges CAN fire and fade. Even our transports can.
