Maybe, maybe not. Hard to say when these updates haven't unveiled much so far. I'm just glad that we are getting an updated model, and that in some form incubi will probably get boosted rules.

I'm highly doubtful, to say the least. If they really were getting extra powers I imagine it would have been mentioned here. If they were getting 6 powers I'm 100% certain it would have been mentioned.

I mean, the fact that they had a golden opportunity to finally fix the godawful Demiklaive rules and ignored it entirely certainly doesn't fill me with confidence.

It is a nice model, though. Swap out the weapons and you've got yourself an Archon that doesn't look like absolute arse. Twisted Evil

The innate statline of the Demiklaive isn't bad at all in a vacuum - if Wyches could take them they'd be pretty good, for instance.

The issue is that Incubi are stuck with S3 and no way to reroll wounds (unless Ynnari). If that changes...

I went from excited to pissed when I saw the demiklave is still D1. No extra mortal on a "6", not D2, just as useless as it was before.
So now you can have new, pretty plastic incubi to sit on the shelf.

From the look of it the ribbons are just attached to the arms and we're one of the easiest factions to do arm-swaps with. Shouldn't be much of an issue.

This.

Let's not be 100% certain about stuff we can't possibly be certain about. The first unveiling of the new banshee models 2 weeks ago came with no rules at all, entirely possible incubi will get some update that hasn't been revealed yet. Sure the demiklaive stats aren't great, but if incubi are say base s4 now, that's at least an improvement. Who knows, my point is let's just wait and see what the first psychic awakening book brings instead of declaring for certain that incubi won't get any improvements.

The trophy racks hadn't really caught my eye but I certainly got a Sylvaneth vibe from the head.

The model looks cool but the stats for the demiklaives are still awful. I’m holding out hope there are more rules forthcoming to make Incubi playable. GW has demonstrated they understand that rules are what sell models so I hope they don’t selectively forget that lesson with Incubi and Banshees.

For me it's a given that the rules are going to be updated in some form... It would be stupid to remake and release a model that noone uses on the tabletop like ever...

maybe if its true and they remake Drazhar he will buff them so hard (reroll hit and wounds?) that you HAVE to buy both of them ^_^

As i said in other places.

Remember Grotesques are 35ppm (2 Incubi are 32pts) they have 4 wounds 5++ base, obsession (Incubi dont have) for a 4++. For the same points they are literally over double the toughness and more damage, given they are also Str 5 and 4 attacks, i think it fair to say incubi needs a stat buff, i would do this to make them playable, +1t, +1w, +1d, +1atk, +1str for 16ppm.

Getting +1T and +1W doesn't seem right for Incubi.

It would also be a little weird in that it would give them higher toughness than Archons.


They really do need a buff though. I think giving their weapons +1S and D2 would help.

Yeah I'm fine with incubi staying a single wound with t3, I don't need them to be durable if they actually kill things more like they are supposed to. An invul would be nice, but I doubt that will happen, and a +5 or +6 invul doesn't help deal with the new prevalence of ap-2 bolters.

But thats the point, with no hero support (re-rolls from archon) no obsessions, no other buffs other than 1 overcosted named character that doesnt work after turn 3, 1/2 the stratagems wont effect them, why take them over any other melee unit? Literally all other melee units are better in almost everyway, even if they are +1D and +1str, so what who cares, they wont survive and still wont do more damage than our other choices. In 8th you either are so glass you kill everything, or you need survivability to make it to round 2. Incubi cant do either, and in order for a 16pt model to do real damage without supporting buffs (Wyches can be 4-5 attacks for 4-5str, and are 1/2 the points). Thats why i want both, if they are elite specialist, make them elites, otherwise make them cheap like wyches. AT 10ppm i most likely would play them for fun, but not more than 1 5man unit in a venom, as they still dont do anything worthwild at all.

But this is part of the problem, isn't it?

We're trying to fix one problem with the codex whilst ignoring all the related issues.
