If I don't equip my 12 Reavers with blasters I'll give them grav talons and run them 1x12 +T drug.
Then they'll be all combat all the time. Either red grief for eviscerating fly by or as strife for beta strike with Wyches and Hellions

They are really good at summoning Yncarne. (because they are really good at getting somewhere and dying)

For me 9 with strife and +1T, with 1 blaster on the Arena Champ and 3 grab talons. The unit moves up T1 and hides for a T2 charge. Normally they get shot/hacked to pieces after T1/T2, but if that one arena champ survives they can run around with a blaster and still help.

I have tried red grief and 3 special weapons (both types) , never seems to pay off. They never last long enough to justify the points in the special weapons. Also as you're probably advancing and charging 4+ to hit isnt great.

On a side note grav talons I am a big fan of.

Funny you should mention that as I was just toying around with a list along those lines:

Ynnari (Drukhari) Outrider:
- Archon w/ Huskblade, Blaster, PGL, Corag Hai's Locket (Warlord: Lord of Rebirth)
- Yncarne w/ Gaze of Ynnead, Ancestor's Grace
- 3 Reavers w/ Blaster
- 3 Reavers w/ Blaster
- 3 Reavers w/ Blaster

Flayed Skull Battalion:
- Archon w/ Huskblade, Splinter Pistol, Djin Blade
- Archon w/ Agoniser, Splinter Pistol
- 5 Warriors w/ Blaster
- 5 Warriors w/ Blaster
- 5 Warriors w/ Blaster
- 5 Warriors w/ Blaster
- 3 Lhamaeans
- 5 Mandrakes
- 5 Mandrakes
- 5 Scourges w/ Haywire
- Ravager w/ 3x Disintegrator
- Ravager w/ 3x Disintegrator
- Razorwing Jetfighter w/ 2x Disintegrator, Splinter Rifle
- Venom w/ Splinter Rifle
- Venom w/ Splinter Rifle
- Venom w/ Splinter Rifle
- Venom w/ Splinter Rifle
- Venom w/ Splinter Rifle

2000pts (7CP)

Pretty basic list plus some Ynnari stuff. With Mandrakes, Scourges and Reavers (plus all the usual transports), I should be able to set up lots of possible teleport locations for the Yncarne.

I've taken Blasters on the Reavers because it seems a good way to make them more threatening targets (so that there's a heavier price for ignoring them if he doesn't want to risk Yncarne taking their place). Also, the Archon can actually buff their shooting if he happens to be standing nearby (unlikely but still).

Also wanted to try out a Ynnari Archon. I'm kinda torn between Hungering Blade and Corag Hai's locket. The blade seems better but the locket looks fun (especially if I can get some kills in with the Blaster early on).

Blade is better, as it is more reliable. Also i quite like Fear of Grave and Whispering Spirits strat -4 to LD. Can be handy.

Yeah, you're probably right. Extra movement from the locket could be fun but it's hardly reliable.

Would be interesting to do a Ld-attacking army sometime.

Locket is good on a guy that can kill something when they shoot and in melee, like a wraithlord/Wraithseer, Autarch, Farseer, Shadowseer, etc..

Since you mentioned it, I do really want to use a Shadowseer with the locket (and probably Lord of Rebirth again, as it's my favourite warlord trait).

That aside, I'll admit the inclusion of the Farseer on that list puzzles me. I didn't think their melee or their shooting was anything to write home about. Am I missing something with that one?

A Skyrunner with Singing Spear has okay shooting and melee abilities. If psychic powers count as attacks for the Locket then they could stack up their stats very quickly, and a Farseer with 5+ attacks would be something to write home about.

I thought psychic powers specifically weren't attacks?

Either way, it's interesting to hear that Farseers have okay melee ability. I'd generally dismissed their melee ability entirely due to how few attacks they get (and, to a lesser extent, the lack of AP).

I might give a more combat-oriented Farseer a go sometime. Especially if Legends guts the Autarch's wargear selection.

She can do 3D3 MW's and a D3 shooting attack along with her S5 -1 D3 staff, able to run and still do that and charge, a -1 to wound aura, it can be tough.

I would go for the locket while we still can use blasters on Archons in competitive lists.
