Morning,

So the colour scheme I've been trying to go for is the Kabal of the Obsidian Rose. I've tried a few times and everytime I do, either the red looks to brown or the highlight looks too orange and just plain odd.

Sorry I know that's not much to go on but I could really do with some advice on which colours to use

Thanks

Hello!

Ok, which colours You used? I tend to see A LOT people suggest using orange + red for highlight.

Well... it's good if You want paint "juicy orange". For red IMHO final highlight should be Blood Red since it contain enough orange already.

You need Chaos Black (B), Scab Red (S) and Blood Red (R) and Baal Red Wash.

Start with black base
75% (B) 25% (S)
50% (B) 50% (S)
(S)
(R)
Red Wash to blend everything
50% (S) 50% (R) as highlight
(R) as final highlight

I guess You can call it "red deluxe"

Cheers for the advice guys!

Local_Ork, I was starting off with Dark Fresh or trying mixing Mechrite with Black and I think that's where I was going wrong. I'll give this a go and try to get some pics up because I love the way it came out on Rider's skyboards.

Really nice work there Rider, love them.

Again thanks for the help, looking forward to trying this all out, will keep you posted

There is hellishly good video tutorial on how to paint Obsidian Rose. I learned much from it.
