| Hi fellow Archons,
yesterday I had my first game with the new codex, and it was awesome. The first 2 rounds went really really bad, but the new stratagem "failure is not an option" turned the game around. I opened this thread so everybody can post his personal best experience with the new codex.
Failure is really not an optionAs mentioned above I was about to lose this game against Imperial Guard ( 2 x Leman Russ, 2 x Taurox and some infantry). At the end of my second turn I only managed to do 2 dmg to his Tank commander and kill a 5 man squad of tempestus scions.
At the end of his turn 2 he shot down 1 Raider, 5 Mandrakes, 6 Reavers, 7 kabalite warriors of a squad of 10 and my Talos was down to 1 wound. The remaining 3 warriors were carrying 2 blasters and a darklance. Sure they would run away in moral phase he did not wipe the squad completely.
But it came differently. I rolled a 6 on my moral roll, then I spent my last CP on "Failure is not an option" letting them shoot again. They took down 3 Scions holding an objective. The other 2 scions ran away due to moral. Not only did my warriors survive, they killed a squad of his scions and prevented him from getting 2 victory points from his tactical objective.
And it came better. In the next shooting phase, this 3 warriors took down the Tank Commander which had 10 wounds remaining. This completely tilted the game.
Although these brave warriors died later in the battle, I made sure their bodies were carried back to the dark city where they are now waiting to be resurrected by my haemonculus.

| Sounds good, I want to run as Obsidian Rose primarily for that stratagem as I seem to often get screwed by morale. Also I like their relic the Armour of Misery for a tougher Archon. _________________ Supreme Night Master Vorl-Xoelanth of the Kabal of the Dying Sun Bringer of Twilight, Extinguisher of Suns, Keeper of the Secret Relics of the Aeldari Empire, Terror of the void in the hearts of the mortal races.

| Great idea for a thread! My best moment with the codex so far (only played 1 game with it) was my Succubus charging a Hellhound. My opponent rolled 12 shots with the main weapons on over watch, these auto hit and resulted in 10 wounds. I pretty much accepted she was dead at this point....promptly failing 5 saves. My opponent was exultant in thinking he'd taken her down but had forgotten about innured to suffering. Of the 5 wounds suffered I managed to save 1 due to innured to suffering meaning my Succubus survived to make the charge and over two turns of combat managed to strip the last 4 wounds off the Hellhound with her Archite Glaive. | |

| I had a quite enjoyable moment against a Ynnari army. My opponent moved some reavers up towards my lines turn 1, but never tried to charge them home. I moved my combat Archon and Succubus lieutenant up close to them, then shot them down with two kab squads in venoms. Up pops the Ynncarne HQ for a charge of both my combat characters. The Flayed Skull archon with famed savagery and the djinn blade went through her like a hot knife through butter. My opponent blew two command points to fight ahead of the succubus, who tanked all attacks with a 3++ thanks to alliance of agony and the red grief trait. She then finished the last 3 wounds off the Ynncarne with her bloodglaive. That really had the game sewn up in my first turn. _________________ Do you fight for the Dark Gods? | Great thread idea! My most memorable moment so far has been a game I had against Necron's. My opponent spent two turns moving and shooting the bulk of his army to take out my unit of 3 Coven of Flesh Talos (taloi?). When he eventually did so, he was so pleased with himself that they were gone but the rest of my army was unscathed. Thanks to the gaps he had left I managed to charge his 2 characters and 3 huge warrior blobs with my unit of 9 Cult of Red Grief Reavers. He did not see it coming and he conceded soon afterwards. Reavers with this Obsession are awesome! _________________ Kabal of Darkest Night - Coven of Twisted Veins - Cult of Elegant Slaughter

| Best moment I've had so far was probably seeing my archon wipe out that tough iron hands captain on a bike with the half damage storm shield before he had a chance to strike. Shot him with the blast pistol for 2 damage, than changed in with my djinn blade/famed savagery archon for 8 attacks s5. Granted I got pretty lucky, 5 inflicted wounds was just a bit above average but him failing 3 invul saves was definetly very lucky for me. The half damage didn't save him from 3d3 damage, nor did his fnp. _________________ The Night is Dark and Full of Terrors...

| Playing against the best player at our club and beating his cultist heavy Alpha Legion. Moment of the game was using Agents of Vect to deny a blob of cultists coming back at full strength. | |

| My personal favourite moment was when one of my 10-man units of Wracks had been reduced to 2 models over the course of the game and found themselves in a losing melee with a ton of Hormagaunts. I had 3 Talos on their way to help but they would never make it in time so I used the Black Cornucopians stratagem which essentially teleported those 2 remaining Wracks out of the melee, regenerated their unit to its full 10-man strength and (since the melee was close to a table edge) put them pretty much right behind the Hormagaunts who had just been tearing them apart. This allowed me to blast the gaunts with the nearby Talos stinger pods and then finish them off with the same Wracks they had just been snacking on. I used the same stratagem on the same unit of Wracks again later in the game which allowed me to grab an objective from right under his nose at the last minute and win the game.
Covens players keep telling me Wracks are a waste of time and to just take Grotesques instead but if it means missing out on moments like that then no thanks.

| 2x5 and 1x10 is not bad for a battalion. You’ll probably want a second Haemonculus for the Grots and Pain Engines anyway. | |

| So many in so few games. Tying up an entire AM tank line with Reavers turn 1, Wyches killing a Hive Tyrant in combat, 2 units of Shredderborn annihilating a 6 man Aggressor blob after tanking all their shots on Reavers, PGL's putting a wound on Celestine before the Torment Grenade strat kicked in, a 6 man unit of Grots repeatedly tanking plasma flamer fire from a pair of Y'Varhas in my first game with the dex.
This codex isn't perfect, but I'm really enjoying playing with it.

| My 2 archons and succubus running around the salamanders back lines, killing a captain with a blast pistol and his lieuteneant in combat with archon (soul trap!). proceeded to hunt down his chaplain and slaughter him mercilessly as i tell my opponent how many str 5 attacks he now has with the djinn blade...his face is priceless =)

| Was playing doubles with an IG player and against Dark Angels and Blood Angels. The look on their faces using AoV to stop a 10 man Death Company squad deep striking first turn which would of been given a 3D6 charge was the best moment. _________________ "Why me?" "Why not?"

I assume you stopped the 3d6 charge, not the deep strike? - @Imateria wrote:

| Finally had my first game last weekend against Death Guard (with an allied Knight Propyrion sp?). Sent 6 Grots at a unit of 3 blight haulers with their attacks pretty much bouncing off of their armor My opponent thus thought them pretty harmless and charged in with his warlord, a chaos lord with the relic armor. Thanks to my haemonculus with Vexator Mask (thanks skullznbonez!) the Grots struck first, and boy did they make a mess of the chaos lord! Both my opponent and I were pretty shocked at the sheer amount of wounds and mortal wounds coming his way! I loved it! | |

I assume you stopped the 3d6 charge, not the deep strike? We were playing the beta rules so I deployed with the assumption of no first turn deep strikes. So i stopped it entirely and let the guardsmen take the charge on turn two. _________________ "Why me?" "Why not?"

| My best so far has been my Cult of Strife Succubus pulling 27 hits out of 9 attacks on turn 2 and crippling my opponent army's cc compartment. | |

| Playing Poison Tongue, I deep striked 20 warriors with 2 splinter cannons behind my opponent, who was playing custodes. He stratagemed and killed 2 warriors. I then had 44 poison shots into one of his units. I hit on 31, and wounded 26 thanks to rerolls. He failed 9 saves and lost a full unit. All of his units had 3 guys in them, but it felt so good rolling that many dice! | |

| Continuing to use the Poison Tongue. Yesterday I had an Archon target Voldus with the Soul Seeker. He had 3 wounds left and was holding an objective. I hit, I wound, he fails his save, I roll a 6 dealing 3 damage! He didn’t get points for defending his objective and I won the game.
Oh, and I web way portaled in the same 20 warrior load out, pumped 47 shots into a unit of troops holding an objective, killing them. It’s so much firepower for so few points! And being able to reroll 1’s is so nice!

| Well, to put a twist on these supreme tactical achievements, a stellar moment came to me in the form of my Khaine-marked Raider exploding, taking along with it my Haemonculus, a squad of three Wyches locked in battle with Asurmen, Asurmen himself, an unlucky Acothyst and a Spiritseer she was dueling. This explosion in the enemy's turn was swiftly capitalized upon by me drawing the tactical objective to clear the middle of the enemy that I immediately could score as there was nothing but a giant crater in the middle of the table. _________________ Siticus Empyrean Vision - my Facebook page with various painting projects Siticus' Empyrean Visions log - the project log for my Aeldari works and beyond | |

| continueing with the trend: blood angels stole initiative and swarmed my really aggressively deployed army, killing most of my raiders and all wyches inside, only the succubus survived, a sqaud of reavers broke loose and held the objective waaaayy behind the blood angels lines, unbothered for the entire game as his force was stuck in close combat. Particilarly funny was the Sanguinor charging my reaper and dieing to overwatch, two sanguinary guard dieing to overwatch from the same reaper, a venom triggering a chain reaction of three exploding land speeders and killing dante | |
