'The special rule for the weapon doesn't count as the weapon' is an untenable argument. It has no grounding in logic, no basis in the rules, and is so absurd it makes me question whether it's actually just an attempt to troll the person who asked the question.

If the argument that "a model slain by a special ability doesn't count as being slain by the weapon" were true, wouldn't that mean that the Ossefactor couldn't trigger at all?

It doesn't have a strength value, and relies on the ability to let it always wound on a 2 be able to wound at all.

Ergo, by such logic, any wounds from the Ossefactor are caused by the ability itself, meaning the Ossefactor can never slay a model.

Solid logic there, right? Rolling Eyes

Maugan Ra and every Deathjester are killing maschines...
(hyperbel killing...)

to be serious: you are cheating if the special effect of an Ossefactor kills more than one model!

Hello there.
You're welcome to stand and defend a different point of view.
I explained what my interpretation of the rules is based on, and it was recieved as a logic and solid interpretation by various members of the forum.
Either you present another intepretation, or you explain why mine doesn't seem right. But insulting other people of cheating without doing any of the former isn't going to cut it, i'm afraid.

Because, to be serious, i'm dead serious about how i read the rules of the ossefactor. As written, the weapon can deal multiple mortal wounds. Whether it's balanced or not, good rule design or not, or whether it fits the fluff or not, is out of the conversation. This is the "rules and questions" part of the forum, and we're here to discuss how the rules work.

Accusations of cheating do not make for a good argument and are against forum rules. Please debate the issue rather than making unsupported assertions - Count Adhemar

Look closely, the wording of maugan ra and the deathjester is different. So there is no reason to assume it does the same.
There an infantry model has to be slain by an attack made with the weapon.
While for the ossefactor it mentions if a model is slain by the weapon.

I think it can be agued both ways.
I also expect it to be intended to only kill one model (otherwise I expect it would have said for each model slain). And our options for MW are all very expensive.
But there is some way to put it one way or the other if looking at just the way it is written.

Nothing to add.

Absolutly. But if Mauga Ra had the same ambigous wording, i'm pretty sure he would be spammed in tournament by people hoping to make those MW explode.

Well, except for the crucible, but i get the point.

Deleted several posts from this thread as I don't see any good reason to resort to personal attacks and insults. Thread closed - Count Adhemar
