| Beautiful paint job sizzly. Love the contrast between the metal fins and sleek white body. Very nice | |

| Thanks! It took me a while to nail down the colour scheme for my Kabal (and their Wych allies). _________________ Rob

| WoW - hats off to anyone who can paint White and make it look that nice.
I have tried painting pure white before and know how hard it can be. _________________ Those who live by the Sword, get shot by those who don't!

| Beautiful. Good name/colour match too, that slightly warm pink tinge makes all the difference. Pallid wych flesh? I too am intrigued about your white technique. _________________ Dark Angels. The Rock. Lion El "Dwayne" Jonson. I can't be the first person to have thought of this.

| Thanks for all the kind words! For those of you who're interested, Here's how I pull off the white:
It’s really not that hard and I have to say that I had lots of help in the form of the “Raiders of Commorragh: Dark Eldar Painting Guide” by Games Workshop. In particular, the instructions for painting the bone armor plates given for the Kabal of the Flayed Skull (pg 105 in the iBook version). The steps for the Razorwing: 1. Start with a black base coat. I always use a black base coat. I tried white once and couldn’t get it to work for me.
2. Layer upon layer upon layer of watered down Ushabi Bone – or you could use an airbrush. You just got to keep doing this until there aren’t any streaks left. This bit is mind numbingly boring but it’s really important. The Ushabi Bone needs to be consistent across the entire model so it looks uniform. It’s not hard. Just time consuming.
3. I put a wash of Agrax Earthshade into the recesses and then put another layer of Ushabi bone on top. This gives a bit more depth to the various plates on the model.
4. I used Pallid Wych Flesh to highlight all the edges.
When I’m doing my wyches, I hit the whole surface of the armor with Agrax Earthshade. The smaller detail requires a bit more depth than the long, sweeping lines of the Razor Wing.
That’s it. Easy, peasy, eh?

| How did you do the colours of your Kabal? The scheme is beautiful, especially the blue. _________________ Visit my project log [last update: February 10th]: The Ebon Fire | |

| Thanks, Kinnay!
The blue was pulled from the How to Paint Necrons guide from GW. I made a small modification on the blue in that I replaced the yellow glaze with guilliman blue. Everything else is pretty much following that guide. _________________ Rob

| You know, I thought the same thing. I've been petrified to even start em. Turns out that if you have a fresh brush (I use army painter insane detail brushes for this kinda thing) and well mixed paints it's not nearly as hard as it looks. Don't get me wrong. It's the hardest painting I've done but it's within reach of anyone me thinks.
I've never really considered myself to be any good at painting. The GW painting guides have been a real boon. If you want to see how far I've come over the past couple of years zip over to http://itoysoldiers.com/galleries/evolution-my-painting. It's got a good range of shots of my progress. Take a look at the first one. You can get there. _________________ Rob
