I just had my scourges come in this afternoon, and after assembling a few, my concerns didn't seem so irrational: the scourge model has a really high center of gravity, making it very unstable (although it is a gorgeous model)

So just wondering:
How could I weigh down the bases to make them stable, normally I'd just glue in a coin, but as these are slotted bases, thats not really an option.

And for those who haven't stabilized them, are they usable on the table without making them more stable?

I'd do what barenone said. Take a coin, cut it in half, and glue it to either side of the slit.

Glueing loose gravel or similar to the underside might work - I use the metal off cuts from old models myself

This is exactly what I do also.

Ditto, though due to the limited amount of metal stuff I've got lying around these days, mine are still pretty unstable, especially when deep striking and you've got to arrange them in a pretty circle.

I can tell you that euro coins are surpisingly hard (if not downright impossible) to cut. The metal idea is quite good though, thanks

Where a coin isn't possible, I've been known to fill out a slotta base with either Green Stuff for a permenant fix, or Blutack for temporary.

I got mine filled with greenstuff and I added small rocks to the top of the bases. Works very good.

Have also heard bout a guy who just made his own bases from old metal minis - made a plaster cast mould and just poured the melted metal in. Probably the best solution overall, but requires some work. Might be best solution though.

EDIT: just got an idea. You can make yourself something like deepstrike plate - a magnetic plate. Piece of magnetic sheet perhaps. Magnetize the bases and whenever you deepstrike, use this as the underlayer of your deepstriking scourges. Should not topple because of the wide base...

I scout the internet for people selling that cheap lead shot balls that just fill the base up nicely.

You can get some for cheap but there are also rip-off merchants trying to sell you tiny amounts (i.e. 2-4 models) for far too much (i.e. £6-10).

It does involve spending but its super neat and easy with no fiddling really (unless you drop the pot of balls on a thick carpet like myself...)

Hehe. Good idea there Dragontree.

Gunstores should have 2mm lead pellets. 1kg of those cost about £6 in my country.

BB gun pellets is also a good way to get some lead. They are higher than the base inside though (4,5mm), but lodging them in greenstuff and heightening the rim of the base with it should be easy enough. These are around £1.5 per box of 300, which should be more than you will ever need. :-)

We nids always used washers, epoxied to the bottom of a base, to weight tippy Hormies.

With the slottas, you can't get the washers to fit inside, so the hormies gained some height. Where the washers came in handy was in creating model transports out of plastic tool chests with magnetic stripping across the bottoms >Smile

Not the perfect solution for everyone, but it worked for me:

How about an offcut of old lead roofing?

My roofer will always give me a bit if I need it.

I have a load of lead strip I found too.

you will need to trim it to size but yor snips will do that, lead is soft.

As a bonus, using lead roofing material gives you a really interesting reason to being on the church roof...

I got some nuts for mine but they were too big to fit underneath. Taken out of context my last sentence makes me smile in a very juvenile way. But anyway, snipping up some metal from somewhere seems to be the best option. I tried green stuff on a previous squad of the winged ones and it wasn't heavy enough, unfortunately.

A blob of green stuff or modelling clay works alright sometimes. I did that with mine and they only fall over when they are already on unstable terrain really!

I glue a old rusty metal washer under the base, and then apply some plaster on it (big pot to make tile joints in the kitchen).
I remove the excess plaster with a wet sponge. Let it dry, and that's it!

Well, I showed my reels of lead strip to Dad, who told me it was that stick on stuff for those awful fake leaded windows.

I have lots. Does anyone want any to try? Id like some bits in return.

PM me if you would like any.

Those look good sasha, has anyone tried them?

I've 20 Scourge I need to add something to so those seem a decent option.

25mm right?

Those base weights are pretty nice Smile I'll probably try to cast something like that with some scrap tin

Actually in the end I'm likely to go for these, seems cheap and can be used for a greater variety of things:
