We should get elite Incubi squads with Huskblades for 35 pts each. Since Huskblades are 35 pts on other models Razz

First - I would be very careful in comparing units... Banshees dont have access to Assault Vehicle, which is rendering them almost useless even for the points.

Second, just consider this... Hellions are basically wyches with Jump Infantry rules, Assault 2 18'' gun, +1 S, HnR. Downsides - absence of grenades and HWG. I cannot see them going lower than 14ppm without lowering cost of wyches...

OFC. But I think every dex should be self sufficient. I cannot perceive HOW in a galaxy full of war, assault specialist unit, wouldnt employ assault vehicles. Imagine yourself being a banshee, several hundred years old and for all those years noone... really noone would not be able to make a eldar delivery system for your unit... WTF???

What did you say Banshees? You need to get into CC somehow? Call Vect and rent a few raiders. Dont bother us, Eldar inventors, with nonsense like fast assault vehicles. Serpents are all the fashion now...

Agree with all of this. Hellions are pretty good, they've really pulled their weight when I've used them. Don't forget taking a Helliarch will give you a PGL though, and doesn't the Baron have one? No grenades isn't the issue, they're just quite fragile. To my mind, that's why you can take twenty of them. Combat drugs are really good for the unit too, in fact they might be the unit that benefit most from them. Strength five on the charge after you've shot all your poison into something is really not to be sniffed at.

Unit by unit comparisons are always difficult across books. Banshees, yeah, woohoo, they get power weapons, but no way to get stuck in with them. A fairer comparison would be Striking Scorpions, as they don't need a delivery system and their armour save and stealth helps them stand up a lot better than the Banshees before they charge. Regardless of who might kill more models in a combat, it has to be said that both Scorpions and Hellions are much more likely to make it to said combat in the first place, whilst the Banshees die ignoble deaths scrambling across the battlefield.

Hellions need one, andonly one rule... Jink.. same price and they would be perfect. For fluff I would give them ability to charge FMCs or hovering craft and I think that space elf junkie sk8erz would really soon find that grenades are light to carry and fun to drop on their enemies heads. No assault nades. HWG perhaps. One shot HWG. But thats wishlisting. Just jink is OK.

I want something like, "Whenever a squad of hellions jumps over a unit, their skyboards cut into the enemy, dealing X S4 AP- hits to the unit, where X is the number of hellions in the squad."

The best unit comparison I think for hellions in the eldar dex is shining spears.

Spears really invalidate banshees in their own dex. Ap3 weapons (that can also shoot with the lance rule) a bike for delivery and turbo shenanigans, a better armor save and jink.

No need to ever use banshees.

We already have bladevanes on bikes. And the Hellions dont move fast enough for this to be of any use. I would much rather welcome some kind of dickery. Scout rule, No-scatter DS, Assault after DS (never going to happen), or those HWG as I said.

IMHO if Eldar are a specialist army with good durability, we should be a multitasking force with low durability. Bikes - good anti infantry and possible antitank loadout. Wyches - antitank and anti infantry. Scourges, etc. Our main defence should be target saturation. Which is currently achievable only through spamming and that makes our dex boring. :-)

HWG should be implemented since Hellions are kinda just Wyches on Skyboards, aren't they?

I apologise for dragging this thread back on topic, but has there actually been ANYTHING to properly CONFIRM a new Codex? Or are we again working based on speculation again?

I think it's just a bunch of rumours at this point. I honestly don't know why everybody thinks we're getting one. Although it's fun talking about a new one.

I only recently started to have faith in the rumours because they're running ou of other 40K oriented things to release.

Even then all I believe is that the codex will be up for preorder in the next few weeks. I have no idea what else to expect.

I think the bomber and Vect are certainty. Wracks, Incubi debatable. New Haemi, maybe. Focus on Covens... possibly. Other rules - mystery, just hopes and dreams...

I can see it coming up for preorder in early October and being released on Halloween.

Seriously. We're DARK ELDAR.
I lost hope in things like that four years after our FIRST Codex came out and rumours circulated of a new one.
And lets not forget last years "mystery box" which never happened.
And the new Ork vs. Blood Angels box which never happened.

I'll believe this when we have actual CONFIRMATION.

A picture, and advert, SOMETHING. Before that, a rumour is just a rumour. A tease. A shadow-hidden, evil-moustache twirling voudevillian silhouette waiting to tie me to a train track for my faith.

I guess the confirmations of DE being on the front of the next WD dont count then... :-)
Including new models description.

Please, link us the pictures. Or, if those are photographs, upload them somewhere and send us links in PM in order to quench the withering thirst for fresh blood!
