PostSubject: Kabal of the Eviscerated Hearts   Sun Aug 10 2014, 09:55

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and i'm just started my Dark Eldar arny. Commoragh, all hail to new Kabal of the Eviscerated Hearts.

This is my third army and i wanted to create something colorful. My first to armies were black templars and blood angels (they are sold). I got tired of power armor so i decided to try something dark, grim and gorgeous. And i found it in dark eldar. I really like this army. After lots of proxy tests I thought that this is what i wanted all this 8 years of Warhammer.

I am starting this work log to share my vision of this army with you. Suggestions and criticism are welcome.

This'll be a good log. How about using purple or some shades of dark grey/ black on the shoulder pads? As for the bases, they already look good but if you maybe paint it to be a more purplish stone nd have blood splatters on them it'd be pretty neat.

I really like the Turquoise color on the armor plates, can't wait to see what you do with wyches or coven if you do them too! Do you plan to make vehicles same color or something different? Surprised

Yeah! I am thinking about putple shoulderpads, but something stops me and telling me to do it black to grey highlight and let cloth be purple =))) About bases i really dunno what to do. Mb some glowing footsteps?

Actually i'm waiting for new dex. At the begining i was planing to do kabal only list (venoms\raiders+kabalites+incubis+archon+ravegers+reavers), but now who knows what darkness hiding from us. Very Happy
And here is pick of my ravager (basic colors done with airbrush).

Glowing Footsteps could be interesting.

Also, I suggest testing both Black to Grey and Purple shoulder pads and see which you like more.

I always paint my wracks like my normal Dark Eldar skin although with more blood and slightly darker skin tone.

For wracks I apply a different wash, a dark purple, rather than a blue, similar but different.

Purple is a nice wash colour for wracks, looks good and bruised.

I will second thesaltedwound.

Purple wash on top of a warm grey is the best way to go on these guys IMHO.

For DE skin I go fot a more silly skintone: White undercoat (using brush and  VMA white primer), a dead flesh basecoat, shading with dead flesh + oxford blue (or another purplish blue) and light adding some pale grey blue and white to the basecoat.

Wow, the kabalites look absolutely fabulous! Can't wait to see the finished models. Needless to say, I'll be keeping a close eye on this log, your painting is top notch!

I love the blue color you have used! I was thinking about similar scheme for my kabal. But I'm not a fan of purple flayed skin- normal tone of skin would add some contrast to your miniatures.

That Symbol looks rather epic, and with that, matches your models!
I really like the colour pattern and how it's executed.

Well I'm not a big fan of battle damage/ paint chipping on dark Eldar vehicles, as I find it odd, but that so far looks so stunning, that I'll make an exception ;-) it looks really good!

And you Kabalites too!

Regretting not seeing this sooner! Your painting is gorgeous, I love the colour scheme too. It's both vibrant and sombre. I'm really excited for the rest.

How did you do those markings on the hull of the raider there? Your kabal symbol is great! How did you make it?
