Oh good.

Yet another release that will barely change anything and be next to pointless, other than making us buy a hardback book to replace the one we currently have.

It's not often I feel sorry for Grey Knight players but in order to replace their 5e Codex (£20), they now need to buy the new hardback codex (£30), Assassins dataslate (£10) and Codex: Inquisition (£16) for a total of £56!

But surely GW won't do that to US, right?
Right?

Prediction:
Codex will be kabalites with maybe one to two named characters. It will suck

A suplement (ala champions of fenris) will cover coven lists with talos, haemis, wracks and grots...

Another supplement will cover Wyches, Beasts and jetbikes.

Then dataslates with special characters, etc...

All said and done, to just get the rules we have for Dark Eldar now, it will cost upwards of $60 bucks.

Should we put on some Linkin Park in here?
I am sorry, I was not quite aware that Dark Eldar were such an emo negative bunch but I am always in the market for bad poetry so not all bad I guess...
BUT....on the otherhand, anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that Bols and Faeit both do not know their heads from their hind ends so why people hang on every little word and let it affect them is beyond me.
Orrs, IG/AM or whatever in the nine hells they are now...Space Wolves...all had fantastic releases so why expect any different for us?
Because of one GK release? Buck up little Archons, glory is coming and it will be fantastic

Thank you! I agree I prefer to look on the bright side and hope for a good codex like all of the other ones

To be fair though. The Grey Knight Player doesn't have to buy all that. Hell breaking this up means the other Imperium players can play those factions without sinking money into Grey Knights. Also, you don't need to own them all. I think this is a good thing. When I saw other factions allied with Grey Knights, they usually allied with the Inquisition part anyways. I don't see the other players complaining.

None of us have to buy anything from GW but if a GK player includes Inquisition and assassins in his army he now has to pay nearly 3 times as much to field the same army. Seems a bit rough! I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like it if the new DE codex only had Kabal units in it and I had to pay extra for Coven and Cult stuff!

I know that pain (in the wallet region) all to well Vasara, Also, I agree with the Count 100%, I'm kinda surprised that GW didnt try to make the Harliquins a supplement.

GK got the goldmine before by getting so much in their Dex, and now there is more freedom overall.
While yes, you can say that they do need to get the Inquisition and the Assassin slates the rest of us all had a suppliment that put us in the same boat for the most part.
The difference is, their extras have the added bonus of being more versatile.
Most GK lists that you saw were Inquisitor light anyway (although I favored Coteaz) most go with more offense minded choices.
And while assassins are great, the same thing applies (I did like one in lists against alot of armor).

I will most likely wait to hear some feedback on them and then include a vindicare in my DE. Won't be hard to leave him out of "one eye open" range and as an elite I'm not losing out on objsec. Plus they are one of my favorite fluff factions (in the imperium) and I'll be happy to convert a dark eldar bounty hunter (untrusted because. .. well true kin lol)

I think inqusition and assassins recive their own dataslate for other Imperium armies.
So any space marines\militarium\GK\ others can take those

Besides, inqusition is almost everywhere now! at least in my local club

Couple points about Dark Eldar,
1) Dark eldar will most likely not be the next book but will appear before the holidays.
2) Vect will be released with the Dias of Destruction like he used to have. GW wants to keep Vect similar to how he is already and don't feel the need to change up what he rides in. Expect the dias of destruction to be an ornate/modified ravager with some better rules. The model for vect will be made so that it can be assembled on the dias or on foot.
3) sorry, no fallen phoenix lords. One or two new special characters but not a lot of new stuff (think ork release) since the models are already some of the best they sell.
4) Some characters gone but look for relic weaponry and equipment to remake them from the base archon (not as good as the actual characters though). Not all characters will be gone though.
5) A new fairly large haemonculus creation in line of a grotesque.
4) no change to beast packs as of yet.
5) revamped power from pain but not a huge shakeup to how it works.
6) yes, we will see Plastic incubi but depending if you like their look the finecast versions might look better and less rigid. we will also see plastic wracks (not grotesques). Also new voidraven bomber kit/upgrade kit (not sure about this yet

I do not know if she/he is any trustworthy at all, i checked for her/him at dakka dakka but could not find anything for her/his credibility.

She has made some interesting posts, I've gleaned the rest of her replies and posted them below. All of it flies with things we have heard before and what we would believe would happen anyway - I guess time will tell.....

Baron will most likely not be in the new book, however if he is not there will be an upgraded skyboard for an archon (haven't heard the final decision on this yet, last I checked they were still considering it).

It has not been confirmed that Drazhar is Arha, it is heavily hinted at that he is but I didn't count his as a fallen phoenix lord since they never specifically said he was. He will be in the new book, similar to how Snikrot is in the ork book.

(After a question about will there be a plastic beast set) Possible, I haven't heard anything about it but I'll ask. Right now there is only so much Im allowed to reveal.

If I recall correctly there wasnt really a new unit in the book.

No unit called castigators in the new book. Mandrakes will stay relatively the same as will harlequins. Kerdrukah will not be in the new book however he will still exist in the lore. This is what I know so far, it is subject to change as the book release is still some ways off but a change is unlikely since the book itself is nearly finished.

No harlequin supplement in the near future but it is a possibility. What GW is doing now is getting all the codexes updated before they begin working on the supplements (not counting the ones released with the codex). Supplements will not be like the old ones but rather will have new data sheets for formations. Not saying anything definite for harlequins but you may be pleasantly surprised later on this edition. Also GW isn't really downsizing 40k they are just bringing everything into line before we start to see allot of new stuff (it is coming though so don't worry).

I have a feeling we are about to get screwed while the other armies will get more special garbage rules and abilities....I say the following will happen-

-drop Baron
-Drop Lady Malys
-Drop Drazhar
-Drop Duke
-probably drop the Court since really no active models(would be nice to be able to field units comprised of the individual models though... 5 SSlyth"termies")

-No improvement or even additions of poisoned CCW for the Wyches(they need it)
-little if any points changes,if there are they will probably charge us more for no improvements...
-GW will not add the Tantalus or Reaper to the Codex but they should
-GW will not allow for more than 1 void bomb but there should be option for added bombs.....
-we now know ,no Castigators(thank you Count and dammit GW!) -well will have to sub in Wraithguards /lord somehow.
- OH- should have made an option for Talos ' to be had in a squad.......

oh well, will see what we finally have put on our doorstep and set on fire.....

A couple of basic rules for GW codexes:

They rarely, if ever, drop a unit that has a model
They rarely, if ever, give a unit that has a model/kit options that are not on that model/kit

I think you're right, along with Decrapitator. Drazhar will remain and I suspect Vect too. Everyone else without a model is toast.

Baron is even more likely to go when you consider the Russian model knocking about.

I don't mind the Baron going if we can at least get the option to build our own version of him using an Archon or Succubus on a jetbike or skyboard. Okay, he may not have all the special rules but he can still have a PGL and join a unit of beasts. The trend in recent codexes has been to add in some relics or other items that allow at least a partial recreation of missing characters.
