PRIMARY

Archon, Agoniser, Huskblade, Shadowfield, Soul-trap

4 Grotesques, 1 Liquifier, Dissie Raider

5 Wracks, 1 Liquifer, Venom w/ dual splinter cannons

5 Wyches, HWG, Hekatrix w/ Venom blade, Venom w/ dual splinter cannons

5 Wyches, HWG, Hekatrix w/ Venom blade, Venom w/ dual splinter cannons

Talos, Twin Linked Liquifier

Talos, Twin Linked Liquifier

ALLIES

Corsair Prince, Shadow Field, 2x Fusion Pistols

10x Corsairs, Corsair Jetpack, 2x Eldar Missile Launchers, 8x Shuriken Catapults

2x Hornets, each with Pulse laser and Scatter laser.

1500 on the nose.

So the Dark eldar is a bit of a melee focus and anti horde with the venoms, while the corsairs supply a highly mobile AT platform with the jumpshootjump missile launchers and two hornets kitted out as light to medium vehicle specialists with some anti TEQ. Any AV 14 and the wyches get out the Haywires.. and that lovely voidstrike Str 9 lance 5" Blast...
Thoughts? (and before you mention it, the dual fusion pistols are a modelling choice, and so are staying)

I like the lists together. Having played Corsairs for some time I can offer the following input:

Corsair Prince-When I read the list I immediately thought "Major style points; this must be a modelling decision." Nailed it?  Razz  the only question that I have is where is he going? Can't ride in allied transports. Sure as heck doesn't want to walk around... This is often the problem with the Corsair Prince unless you take a retinue or have him use a jetpack. Believe it or not, the night fight missile is often the best missile to use first turn after getting in your shooting attacks from the Corsairs (no Night Vision)

Jetpack Troops: I always take one unit of these as well, though I opt for the lasblasters as I don't want them within 12", and feel the weight of fire from 24" is the better option. Until they are updated they won't have the catapult pseudo-rend.

Hornets: These are all kind of awesome. Remember that they can outflank as well.

Hope this helps! I've played Corsairs quite a bit and feel that they are a really great complement to what Dark Eldar do well.

personally i think you should run those hornets with double pulse lasers for more AT

also thats a ton of points for the archon to have a huskblade AND an agnoniser...usually I go husk+venomblade...it certainly is more killy just lots of points

Cheers for the feedback guys,

Re: Corsair prince and Archon issues. I suppose the sensible thing would be to drop the agoniser on the Archon and use the points for a Jet pack for the prince.. I can probably find five points for a venom blade to replace it.

I love the hornet model, and for once its a unit that has a potential loadout that can match its awesome looks.. As for these ones, I was sort of toying with the idea of dual pulse lasers, but they're just so very expensive, and twin linking one pulse laser with an addition of 4 str6 shots seems like such a good deal for 10 points..

As for the Shurikens, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Corsair book doesn't actually have an entry for them, and just tells you to refer to codex eldar, in which case would they not have auto-updated.. I'll check later at home.

Good call, you may be correct on this. Can't look it up as my copy of IA11 is in the bedroom where my wife is sleeping at 5:57... Razz

I would still be leery of using SC's with Corsairs without the extended range effect of Battle Focus. If you can shoot things, they can charge you next turn. At T3 and WS3 your chances are rarely good Evil or Very Mad

The pulse lasers are 5pts a piece...its literally the same points cost as what you have outfitting now. 80 pts gets you 2 pulse lasers...95 adds in the holo fields. This is from the latest IA: Apoc book.

ESE: I can understand the hesitation, I suppose I was hoping that the prospect of 16 shots with potential to rend might be enough to put off most things from trying to get close.. but that probably is just wishful thinking. I suspect you're right on balance.

Something else that I'm going to have to look up later, but it occured to me that the prince might be able to make the talos deep strike if the rule isn't limited to his own force. Though that might be a bit of a double edged sword..

Ligolski: I'm working from doom of Myrmea (or however it's spelt) where they're 30 points each but if that's true then you've just blown my tiny little mind.. Which book exactly is it, may have to get my hands on a copy?

I believe it is only a unit from the Corsair FOC that can deep strike.

Elite Wracks...? I really don't think they're good enough to take as a non-troop unit.

They get their jetpack assault move to try and put some distance between them and their enemies. I like the Catapults since they can threaten a lot more than lasblasters, but i definitely see the appeal of staying a bit further back.

As far as the Talos DSing I think it might be legal. The rule says, "Any three units, chosen as part of the Force Organization chart for the army which do not already have the deep strike rule...", and allies are certainly part of the 'army' FOC. Unless there's been an FAQ I missed.

Good call on the jetpack move. Man, what was I thinking?!

I believe that it wouldn't be allowed because of the rules not allowing abilities of allied armies carry over, such an allied Autarch not granting +1 to reserve rolls for the primary attachment.

The Wracks were a carry over from a previous list that I didn't really spend all that much time thinking about.. but yea.
Had a battle tonight with said previous list (without corsairs), and now re-assessing some of my choices based on the following: Talos did awesomely, withstood tons of fire and wiped out a bunch in close combat, including a 20 strong mob of orks (which charged it!) and a warboss with biker gang. Wracks we're sort of irrelevant. Gots are awesome, but with sliscus they're far too killy, need some toning down. Wyches soaked some wounds in combat away from the talos, but didn't do a whole lot else. Venoms exploded due to misuse (my fault, the one that survived did well). Ravager did virtually nothing, and hasn't really ever in my battles, so definitely in favor of the hornets. First use of reavers as well, and they own.
So, basically, keeping the talos, reducing the grots, dropping the wracks, probably keeping the wyches for haywire, but wondering if ten in an aethersale raider wouldn't be more sensible.. will re-work the list and update.

Cheers for all the advice guys, it's a big help.

Incidentally, this is my prince in progress:
