 In support of the Incubi Venom

There are three "base" blocks to a venom army, all costing 125pts.
5 wyches with haywire grenades (in a venom with an additional cannon)
5 Kabalites with Blaster
5 Wracks with Liquifier

All of these are effectivly suicide units

I believe we should extend that to include
5 Incubi, naked, 175pts.

"But!", I hear you exclaim, "thats 50 more points!"
True
But those 50pts get you
3+ armour save
Ap2 P/W
+1WS
+1S (effectivly)

5 power weapons would cost any of the above squads 75pts alone, and they would be AP3.

Now, its more AI, which is the last thing the DEldar need, but its also more AP2, which we frequently lack.

I'd think nothing of sacrifing a 50pt wych unit to kill a 100pt dreadnought, so why question sacrificing a 110pt incubi unit to maul a 220pt space marine squad? Point for point, they beat terminators, although thats a poor matchup.
Obviously, they arent troops, which is unfortunate, but even if they cant claim an objective, they can contest the pants off it.

I dont use 5 wracks, I keep them in min sized squads of 3 in venom. That way they cost less than a hundred points! The main thing lost with that is the liquifier, but it is rather close range, and I want to keep the 3 wracks safe at least for start.
I also favor 3 incubi with an archon (PGL, SF, VB or HB). It gets expensive, but it usually makes them more threatening.

I've not had much success with Incubi but that's almost entirely down to my appalling dice rolls. Playing a game tonight and have included 3+Klaivex to accompany my Archon in his Venom. Will see how they do.

I have a squad with my archon too, but it loses the cheap throw awayness of the unit.
I'm convinced three squads of 5, or one of 4 with the archon, will work.

Mine did very little in my game tonight. Spent 2 turns getting into position but the rest of the game with the Archon tied up in a challenge with a Destroyer Lord.

The problem is that in a normal venom spam army the elite slot is taken up by blasterborn (and maybe lanceborn) so I dont see the need for incubi.

That being said 5 of them in a venom is a good build, normally I include a klaivex for challenges and what not. Overall I find them decent.
