I own 2 ravagers now and am buying my 3rd tomorrow. One is set up with 3 lances and the other with 3 dizzies. My question is, in your opinion, which set up is better for running 3 in an army? I was thinking one lance and to side dizzies but really want to stay with all 3 of one or the other. Thanks

One of the Space Marine players at the LFGS said it best yesterday: "I thank every Dark Eldar player that brings Dissies on their Ravagers/Raiders." He went on to say that he hates playing against Dark Lance-armed Ravagers because he knows that he's lost once he starts shooting at those instead of transports filled with deadly troops, but he hates having to deal with all of the vehicles/transports that they wreck.

I like that idea, a lot. Dark lances are a great force of destruction, against everything. Dizzies are good against troops, even termies. Thaks

Dizzies are fantastic, but lances are necessary, and its always either / or on anything that cant split fire.

^This. Never mix weapons, you'll always be wasting half your guns.

Depends on your list and your meta, but I find popping tanks and opening transports to be vital, we have many other anti-infantry tools already.

Well first of all a +1 for not mixing dissis and DL.

But I think there is a place for dissis. I love them and have always played them. Sure we can bring up loads of splinter firepower. nothing better than shooting an advancing squad of space marines in the open. Sure they need to be in the open, but with 12" of movement and 36" range, you should be able to spot a nice target every round.

And it's often the case that the unit is only partially in cover, so shoot the guys not in cover. I love that rule.

Still, only 3x dissi ravagers is not the way to go. I find one of each or one dissis and two DL ravagers is a good way to go.

But that lance i wasted on marines, and that dizzie is wasted on a raider

I'd go with 3 lances. Marines and even terminators can be brought down by weight of fire, whereas even the lightest vehicles are invulnerable to many of our weapons. Also, if you run out of vehicles to shoot, you can always turn your lances against terminators, HQs etc.

I give my support to the don't mix the weapons camp as well!

I play against a lot of AV10 in my play group (2 DE, plus an eldar player), so there are raiders, venoms and war walkers all round. I did wonder if the sheer weight of shots a triple dissie ravager generates would prove better than lances against AV10.

The dizzies are slightly better at glancing AV10 to death, but I think the increased potential to pen and explode the transports and kill guys inside from lances outweighs that. (Plus of course the dizzies are much worse against other AVs.)

So lances all round on my 2 ravagers.

plus you can now use a farseer to make your ravagers 'twinlinked" if people hated them before this really is just the icing on the cake TL dark lances yes please
