I just want splinter weapons to get a str value (hoping 3). Reroll failed to wound against guard, tau, etc would be SOOOO helpful.

It would indeed be nice if our weapons actually had an advantage against them, instead of poison giving us a disadvantage. Razz

Seriously? S3 poison weapons would be broken and you know it.

Wounding T3 on a 4+ is a small price to pay for being able to wound T5,6,7,8,9,10 on a 4+.

Broken? I think giving them rending or something would be broken, reroll failed to wound against T3 doesn't seem too bad all things considered. They still won't be able to do jack crap against vehicles.

Did I say rending wouldn't be broken? Wink

Splinter weapons are fantastic as is they really don't need a buff.

Honestly I would trade being able to glance AV10 vehicles for being able to wound anything on a 4+. I mean let's be realistic. Bolters for all intents and purposes are useless against vehicles they can't damage anything that's AV11+ and even against AV10 it takes 9 bolter shots to inflict one glancing hit without taking into account cover! Our army doesn't struggle against AV10, we struggle against AV12.

Never in all the time I have played Dark Eldar have I ever thought: damn I wish my splinter rifles had a small chance of damaging AV10! I mean what has AV10 front armour? Landspeeders, vypers, raiders, venoms, truks, ork buggies, and scout sentinels. Three out of those seven AV10 models have jink saves (meaning it takes 13.5 S4 shots at BS4 to on average take off a single hull point)!

So how is it a downside to trade something that almost never comes into play for the ability to shut down anything that relies on toughness for protection?

Splinter weapons are one of the best "basic" weapons in the game! If not the best. Very Happy

You wound both of these things on a 4+:

You want more?!
If you can't win games with that, you're doing something wrong.

Here is an idea. For say five points for Scourges they get Talon Spurs.

Talon Spurs:
Str User
AP -
+1 Attack

Maybe a chance to be taken by Wyches but unsure at the moment.

good point well made
I like the hexrifle, but I want 1) to let my Archon have a sniper type weapon
2) to let the actually sneaky units have one

I'm not saying you did bro, I was just giving an example of something that would be broken lol

I didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers here; i'm just wishlisting on a wishlist topic haha, if you don't agree with me fine but can't a guy dream? Cool   I wasn't attacking splinter weapons or saying you can't win with them, OBVIOUSLY they are good, I'm just throwing an idea out there. I'm farrrr from a codex writer or anything Laughing

Topic Note- A few other things I would LOVE to see is Wych's gain their 4++ against overwatch, Talos and Cronos start with a pain token and therefore FNP (would probably cost more points but it makes no sense they don't have one stock), and WS 9 succubus's (this may be a stretch lol).

Funny thing is a splinter rifle on a kabalite is just as effective against a space marine as a pulse rifle on a fire warrior. Wink

Uh oh Mush is grumpy. What happens when archons become grumpy? :p

I would enjoy horrorfexes and terrorfexes making a comeback. I would also like to see the shredder get the "monofilament" rule from codex eldar. For 5 points I don't think its bad, but that would see me take it in a lot more lists, I think. Wouldn't help the 12" range, though.

That is a really good point. Dark Eldar are suppose to be the ones causing fear and applying leadership modifiers. Currently our cousins are far better at it. The psi plane is awesome.

We need the h&t-fexes back. Give them a base -3 modifier, combine it with the raider upgrade and you would be at -4, that's pretty solid and you want solid if you are within 6" of the enemy.

I like this idea

I'ld be happy if shredder becomes template instead.

Ok, this has me baffled.

How exactly is a 1/2 chance to wound as good as a 2/3 chance to wound? Neutral

I suspect he's taken into account the BS of the firers. Although that doesn't make any allowance for markerlights.

I think that would be a tad much. My aim with the spurs is a little close combat survivability for the scourges because sometimes an enemy can get close to the unit. If anything maybe on a 6 the enemy unit is blinded due to their eyes/visors/optics being ripped up.

The horrorfex/terrorfex was a grenade launcher from the previous codex that shot some kind of hallucinogen at enemy units. Basically it was a small blast template that did nothing but force a pinning check on the target with a -1 Leadership modifier for every individual model under the template. They were pretty neat, not that expensive and could be wrist-mounted on characters like sybarites, haemonculi, archons etc. or mounted on vehicles, iirc.

They're more or less in the current codex in the form of Torment Grenade launchers, which are still pretty cool with shock prows and an allied wraithfighter hanging around.

I agree on the shredder, if it was a template that would be awesome.

But we already have liquifier guns (one of the best template weapons in the game)! Very Happy
