PostSubject: Wraithknight in the Sky Serpents....   Tue May 21 2013, 14:46

So, I'm planning in adding some Eldar allies to my Sky Serpents when they are released.

Overall they are very easy to justify as Corsairs are very prominent in following Sliscus in the fluff, a farseer can be a void dreamer, dire avengers can be corsairs, etc etc.

Hows about a Wraithknight, how would that work out?

A wraithknight from a exodite planet. They are the origins of the thing anyway

IT sounds like the Wraithknight is piloted by a relative of the deceased.

So perhaps the living relative decided to become a Corsair and the WraithKnight went with them...

Or, you could always go with, "I paid the $115, it looks cool, deal with it; it's here." Razz

I'm also thinking about picking up a WraithKnight & some WraithGuard. I was debating about going down the Coven route with them for fluff purposes, maybe recovered bodies which have had the original soulstones removed (and promptly enslaved), then replaced with the souls of DE slaves/other unfortunates.

Does anyone have any pictures of the WraithKnight or the new Wraithguard models?

We are not showing them or linking to them here to avoid copyright problems, but if you check the first page of the relevant thread on Dakka you will find plenty.

Just saw it, those Wraithblades are pretty cool. The Knight is a little big in my opinion

The Wraithguard/blades are quite nice. I dislike the Knight, however, and though nice, the Farseer seems a bit dull. I want to see more angles on the flyer before I judge it.

I have never allied the 2 armies, which is weird since we can, but I can't wait to get the new flyers so I can take elder jetbikes and flyers as allies or vice-versa. Never tought about jetbikes and reavers fielding together but with that much air support, hmm. I have always thought that the razorwing is the most beautiful in the game but now it has competition. It is funny that it takes the new Eldar release for me to even want to play my DE again. If taking a WK to help with our army, then so be it. Would love to play my DE again since the 6th ed hosing we got.

I was really thinking about picking up a Revenant Titan to use with the Wraithknight rules - looks to be too expensive, though. Anyway, the Revenant has a pilot, so you could say the same for the Wraithknight I suppose...

Aspect warriors are the most difficult to explain within a corsair force. They're very specific to a Craftworld, their temple and training area lies within a craftworld, you could pretty much say they are the main symbol of the craftworlds. A corsair force with an Avatar of Khaine would be something completely exeptional too.

Seers are something else. You do have eldar psykers outside of the craftworlds, though farseers are dead set on protecting their home craftworld, some could linger outside to protect it through other means. Farseers and warlocks can somewhat be explained, fluff would have to be changed a lot to explain why they joined a corsair force, but it could be explained.

Wraithconstructs are something else. Wraithguards, wraithblades and wraithlords are kept within a craftworld too, to be awakened as a last resort. Wraithlords are awakened a lot easier than the 2 smaller kinds, who are awakened in times of need only. You can find Wraithlords in pretty much any eldar force, but wraithguards/blades are somewhat rarer. So far, haven't read the Wraithknight fluff, so know nothing about it, don't know whether it has a pilot or whether it's a huge Wraithlord, but I'm more inclined towards the second. I do imagine these can be stolen by darker types of corsairs though.

The best way to explain aspects or wraithguards & firends would be to see them as temporary allies.

All none aspect warrior stuff can be explained pretty easily within a corsair force. All the vehicles are clearly used by corsairs also, this include titans, harder to get, but certainly not impossible. Guardian armor and all their weapons are available for all eldar civilians, why wouldn't they be for corsairs?

Best is just ot use a craftworld itself as temporary allies, all units would be avalble witohut too many excuses. Corsairs are a lot more specific than you imagine, they have different preferences and resources than either craftworlds or dark eldar. Taking the Corsair way isn't really the easier way you know.

I actually found the holy grail to explain everything easily: A Corsair Craftworld : ). If some eldar onboard a craftworld can go renegade, why not the entire craftworld?
My own Craftworld was nearly destroyed at one point, if not by the aid of the dark kin, it would have. A part of the craftworld went full dark to become the founding members of the Dark Moon Kabal, while others remained on the Craftworld to keep it alive, but they still keep bounds to their brothers within Commorragh. Both factions still regularly form alliances when needed. The craftworld Elthirwe would rather resort to asking the dark kin for help rather than or craftworlds. Keeping this a secret from other craftworlds, they also isolate themselves from other craftoworlds as much as possible.

Corsairs have their own psykers, void dreamers who are closely related to the Warlocks and follow the Farseers by taking the Witch Path. They particularly focus on the arts of divination and prophecy though do not use this to discern the distant far future but rather events that would effect them in the near-future.

So I don't see a problem with them using a farseer as a counts as void dreamer.

The wraithknight is powered by the dead soul of the twin of the living pilot who controls it. So it does have a pilot.

The fluff for Wraithguard/Knights/Lords for my Corsair army is that they represent fallen members of my Corsair Prince's own family. Also in regards to Aspect Warriors, though I don't have a lot that haven't been converted to look like Corsairs, those that do are from his Craftworld warhost that followed him into exile.

From what I have seen so far I believe Wraith Knights are operated by twins. One living and one dead. Usually titans are operated by twins or triplets even. So I'm under the impression that perhaps the titan cannot be operated by one sibling so they assign him to a Wraith Knight with the brothers spirit.

If I remember, it takes 7 stages of intercourse for an Eldar to even conceive... so I'd say quite rare?

Extremely, even more so with triplets of course. They raise the twins/triplets as titan drivers from birth. As far as I understand it all.

Though not so rare, that the majority of Titans are piloted by twins.
