PostSubject: Dark Moon Kabal   Thu May 09 2013, 05:41

Hi!

Welcome to the Dark Moon Kabal. I'm glad to present the biggest Kabal you'll ever see. I don't think anyone is crazy enough to build a force of this ridiculous size.

Hi to those who already know my Kabal, I got a thread on warseer, but I figured I should introduce my army in here as well.

Before posting any pictures, (there will be plenty of them,) some background history on myself and my Dark Eldar Force.

Like a lot of people, I rather go for models than an armylist, All my armies are composed like that, I first buy at least one unit of each, then several units if needed. Back in the oldschool Dark Eldar, that ended up as 7k-8k pts force. I started collecting Dark Eldar from day one, first edition. I was doing eldar before that, I started doing 40k around the end of the first edition, I'm a big fan of all eldar, but I admit, with a preference to the dark side.
I had already done a couple of bigger battles, but then Apocalypse came out and I found a group of people who played this type of battle.
I started buying several other armies from people. Apoc had the bigger formations, new vehicles, suddenly having 3 ravagers wasn't enough.
The force expanded to a ridiculous size obviously.
Then the new models came out and the story started again.
I only need mostly vehicles from the old school range, don't need many new units of infantry, I got more than enough.
I need to do a lot of work on the new range, it will also get to ridiculous size and still got a lot to buy.

Right now I'm mostly focusssed on painting, I got other armies, but I only work on my Dark eldar, though Eldar might be an exception, as they can count as corsairs to mix in in apocalypse, it's a great excuse to mix in FW eldar models. it also includes a fairly large range of harlequin models, who can compose an army of their own If I want. My nids are all painted,, necrons too, My eldar need to be repainted, they were my first army, needlessl to say their paitnjob was pretty bad, with a few exceptions of models I got later on. My tau are half painted, but don't really care about that army, I do use it, but it's far from being a major concern. Some unit's are fully painted anyway, If I ever want to finish them, it won't take that much time.

It's a big WIP project, but I've got a lot of patience.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

I'll first introduce the army first before posting the painted stuff.
Several pretty epic pictures.

i'll give you a couple of numbers for you to see in the following pictures:
Around 500 warriors, 80 wyches, 48 reaver jetbikes , 25 raiders, 12 ravagers, 3 superheavy skimmers, 6 FW ravens, 2 FW razorwings and 2 razorwing flyers, 50 scourges, 6 talos, 1 cronos, one mega talos (Nemeis), Vect... An entire harlequin force who can represent an army if they had the adequate rules.

You're obviously wondering, what does a apoc size Dark Eldar army look like, here it is:

Athe very beginning, early stages, before the bigger expansions:

My eldar and Dark eldar armies back in the old days:

My Dark eldar army alone:

Second expansion, 2 armies boguht and added to the bunch

Just the vehicles nowadays

Oldschool warriors:
Obvious question: why so many? several reason: in the old days, they were the only troop choices. They are very cheap on ebay and in apoc, you need all the Dark Lances you can gather, not just from ravagers.
I nice memory I got from the old warriors: at one point dark eldar pleyrs on forums came ou with an idea to go full troll, max sized, purely spam of DLs and splinter weapons, 6 full 20 sized squads, even before starting to go apoc size, I still had like 150 warriors.
right now that option is not viable obviously.

Adding the new warriors and the ones missing on the pictures I go over 500 warriors lol

My wyches:

Some of my Harlequins:

IMG]https://2img.net/h/i29.photobucket.com/albums/c271/kahrandhil666/warhammer%2040K/harlies.jpg[/IMG]

My Old school airforce:

Homegrown, scratchbuild superheavies, oldschool design.

Some of my reavers:

Some of the painted stuff, took this pciture some time ago, meanwhile I got more units fully painted.

The New dark Eldar came out:

Obviously got more than that afterwards with future releases.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

Now more detailed pictures + painted units:

i'll start with the big vehicles i'm pretty sure some people are curious about.
I know you may or may not like the direction I took, I worked on the design before starting to make the models, some are still WIP, I work on them when I'm inspired

A nemesis , a Soul cage

The Nemesis is the bigger brother of a talos, I figured Apocalypse needed such a fun toy.
The Soul Cage is the bigger version of the raider, it has 3 times the transport capacity. Open topped, 2 floors, some firepower.
Name comes from the DOW Soulstorm game. it does have a cage in the centre anyway.
I litterally Took the size of the normal raider and multiplied it by 2. The engines are very similar, I copied them in fact. I added the extra floor, because it seemed 100% logic, don't think anybody disagrees with me.
The extra front hulls with guns were my choice, not everybody is a fan I've noticed.
I pretty much elaborated on the scythes and put the pilots on the top, nobody seems to dislike that idea.

it's quite bigger than a regular talos. I took a raider as the base for the vehicle, seemed logic as the old talos also had a piece of a raider hull on it. it does have more weapons and A Splinter cannon in each claw, 2 liquifiers, twin linked special Dark Lances, cross in between Dark lance and desintegrator.

More pictures of the Soulcage. it bigger than a raider, you can actually put a raider in it lol.
The Soulcage, a mobile battle fortress, 3 DLs on first floor, Either 2 splinter cannons or 2 desintegrators on the second floor. Transport capacity of 30 + 2 independant characters

I ended up working on a Second Soul cage and the bigger Version of the ravager:
The Massacre gunboat:
9 dark Lances, 2 long barrelled disintegrators on top + one huge Dark cannon.
big explosion with a small black hole if the superheavy skimmer is blow ot bits.
It has one Dark Matter generator, allow to either fire all weapons in a super charged mode, or either shoot the big cannon at full power.
The Dark Cannon has several shooting modes.
The model itself is still very WIP, I haven't even done the big generator, honeslty worked for weeks on such vehicles, the design and drawning alone took weeks. The amount of glue I've used so far on these was also pretty amazing.

I wasn't kiddin, very similar to a normal raider, just twice as big.

I won't make anymore of these ,just want to make one last Jabba the huts like battle barge, just one really huge closed raider.

I will probably make more superheavies, but the new future projects will be based on the new raiders, some very interesting FW designs on the net, I wish either FW releases or either I'll make them myself.

Not everyone is a fan, but frankly, when i first got this model, I was really happy, loved it, I still do.
When I first saw this model on the FW site, I was also pretty surprised, wasn't much of a fan, it was different when I had the model in my hands.
The OOP FW Razorwing: One of the 2 is painted

Also got 3 of my 6 FW Raven flyers painted:
Same as above, still in production, points are too exagerated to be used in a normal battle (also jut wtf, why the F are the DLs twin linked????) Some like it, some don't, but I'm a fan.

Now the raiders and Ravagers:
I hope you like the conversions and time and put into these.

Now the reavers I've painted so far, 12 on 42 ><, still something and these models are still popular today, their design is just so cool and so many possibilities for conversions.

I use the old shredders as heat lances now, more useful than ever. Back in the day, no way you would combine a blaster and a shredder, now heat lance + blaster, no problem at all and the squad looks just so good with the different weapons.

My oldschool hellions: still pretty cool models if you ask me, just too bad for the metal and 2 only different models.

Old warriors

a sybarite with poison blade

Old Urien R.

Old wracks, very poor models compared to the new ones, but I did my best to make them look ok, besides, back then you had no other choice. I do see these models as good tortured slaves, just so many unnatural beings in Commoragh.

An old conversion for the Decapitator. Now used a normal, very cool looking Archon.

The mandrakes archon leading his troops!

I use these old mandrakes as wyches now, rules and appearance just changed too much and I got the new ones anyway.

Old beasts and beastmasters

Old Wyches, some converted from Dark Elf witches, no need for that anymore since the new models are cool. I still do want the witches and don't have.

my favorite succubus

Old Lelith

Kruellagh the Vile. Special character, not in the codex anymore, used as Succubus now.

Old archons:
I'm still a big fan of the huge claw.

A converted Wych archon, I still use him as a archon, too cool to be just a succubus.

Drahzar

Old incubi, I call them Dark Paladins

I put my entire painted force on a table and took a few pictures a couple of years ago, for the sake of coolness, even if it isn't everything I have now.

BTW New and Old range still have the same colors, though technique was adapted to the new models, I'll do my best to mix in old and new.
I don't have a normal color sheme, I just use the same 3 base colors again and again: Purple, black and metal. A warrior can be completely purple or completely black, they are pirates, no real uniform, as long as the colors are somewhat the same.
The Coven units have absoletely no restrictions, any color they want, they get.

The New range:

Khain Mor

His name obviously points towards the god of war, but he was previously known as an assassin called Mor. It's only when he joined the Dark Moon Kabal that he earned the name Khain, given to him by the incubi, like the god of war, he was an exceptional warrior. He proved to be a terrifying leader who easily managed to enslave or destroy any army that would oppose him. He didn't kill the previous archon, he kept him as his underling. The Kabal is just too big, powerful inidividuals are needed to watch over the masses of greedy warriors.
Khain can either point towards the god or either be used as the word blade or sword, back when he was an assassin, he used a bone blade that would destroy anything or anyone it touched.

His Little pet :

His favorite girl:

Kabalite warriors

New incubi, I seriously need to make better custom made helmets for the next ones, I hate the horns.
These ones got secodn prize at a local painting contest though.

Old vs new, I painted these old incubi a long time ago, before the new range, but they mix together fine.

Clawed fiend

Khymera

I seriously recommend these models, even if you buy just two. They're expensive, but they're extremely awesome!

beastmasters, changed one of the old ones, put him on a board, the other one is used as a squad leader now.

My first halrequin, painted a very long time ago

My Razorwing flyer. Anoying model, highlights took forever to do. It spend so much time on this single model ><.

The pilot and interior took me a whole night to do, it was pretty anoying to do, some people don't do this, I don't leave any single detail unpainted!

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

These razorwing have taken forever to do, iI need to finish them asap , getting anoyed by these.

After these I want to paint one Reaver jetbike and one Scourge, then I'll do the other wyches, the hellions and some harlequins.

Once I'm done with all those units I'll get back to vehicles only. I only got 2 venoms, 3 raiders and 1 ravager of the new range, Also a second razorwing, who will be quite anoying, it took forever to do that first razorwing.

At the same time I'lll need to finish those FW flyers that are half painted and i'll paint some more old raiders and ravagers.

500 warriors... i have 45 warriors, 10 wyches (i wanted the models, although they arent my play style), 5 old raiders, 1 old ravager, 2 razorwing jetfighters, 3 reaver jetbikes (to show i mean buisness Razz), 3 Archons, 7 Incubi (5 new, 2 old(1 Klaivex)), and i am currently getting 40-50 warriors (depends), 1-2 raiders, and umm, some scourges, i think 2-3 boxes Razz, i think my 65 Guys and 11 vehicles (included reavers) matches your force Razz, bring it... we arent scared! Afterall! I have the Derpest Archon in the lands! XD, so, i must say, this is the biggest force ive ever seen (until EoE posts a pic of his armada, then he might get the prize of dakka), and i hope one day to double that army Razz (2 boxes of everything and well.. tons of warriors and raiders....

Good lord.
I think it's interesting how much skill improvement there is here. Some of the conversions and paintjobs seem slapdash to me, while others are just fantastic. And, of course, the scope of the project is epic.
How did you do the rated R conversions on the succubus and helliarch? Dremel and green stuff?

Yes there is, I admit, on warriors though, I did some testing technqiues on them, they're painted very basic, they're only warriors , but I did put more effort on some other warriors. The paint sheme on the old stuff is different, I made some different choices with the new sheme. The models themselves make my painting less good, take the old wracks, they look very lame, I enjoyed painting them, but frrankly I look at them now and I look at the new ones I have and I want to cry.

Quote :

Several explainations for the quality difference in the models.

Some are VERY old conversions back to when I started, this army dates back to the first dark eldar edition. Some conversions aren't mine, I bought some armies from others and I kept some of the conversions, some of the raiders weren't done by me.
Conversions with the old range were pretty limited for me, as I couldn't afford (-as weird as it sounds)- to buy other ranges models to use their parts to convert. I'm not crazy enough to buy a model, just to chop off its head to put on one archon. I have bought very few models for conversions only.
I can go nuts with the new range, plenty of materials and converison possiblities.

I do admit, with time you get better, but it's also a resources thing.

I did keep 1 old warrior, from when I first got the first edition codex. He's horrible, but it's a nice reminder to see how far I progressed over the years.

They're blades actually, the pattern itself is similar to a tyranid invasion on a planetary system. No varnish, the basic color is silver actually, with very thin layers of washes over it, some black and purple wash over it, mainly purple, black wash for some shading and blending. You have to be very careful to apply thin layers of washes, or you'll mess up the silver color to the point where it's ruined. BTW this takes forever to do, I spend several hours on that freehand. both freehands together took me about a full day to do.

Quote :

modelling knife some greenstuff, but it was mostly about removing the bra, the shape of the breat was nice enough to get away with just removing the bra. Besides, since they are in combat mode, you could imagine they were moving, affecting the shape of the breasts.
The nipples are a funny story, I did them with superglue, just a tiny tip of superglue. Paintedjob did the rest.

Quote :
I can't wait to see some Reavers!
You'll get a preview soon, I'm thinking the same, I can't wait to see at least 1 reaver with the new color sheme, I'm going to paint 1 reaver and 1 scourge for the sake of having 1 painted. Too busy on other units, besides I got 12 old reavers painted, any other reaver squads I get painted are purely for apocalypse, no rush in painting the new reavers yet.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Nothing new painted yet, though some WIPS as always

I did set up the entire army in one space. I almost regret it, as it took me from 6 am to 9 pm ><.
It was for the sake of epicness and to see how much space the army would take up.

What you can expect in the following weeks/months => finished razorwing flocks, 1 reavers, 1 scourge, wyches, hellions, some harlequins.

Hoping to have those squads finished at least this summer, then I can work on vehicles only, old and new.

I have seen your kabal many times on 40Konline and Warseer, Khain mor, and I have always marvelled at the sheer enormity of it. Your painting is excellent too, I cannot begin to imagine how long it might take me to attempt an army even one quarter the size of yours.

Really happy to see that you have joined us here on TDC. I see that you have already been here a few weeks, but welcome aboard anyway!

Cheers.

Always appreciate a compliment and always happy to see familiar faces.

What was your name on 40k online?

Yeah, I've recognised a lot of guys in here, the online dark eldar community is pretty small.
That blog is long gone and that site is bareily active anymore, the dark eldar section is close to dead.

The Kabal has grown quite a bit since the last post on 40k online and the new models are something else.

Got a nice bunch of this army painted, though I'm nowhere close to having even half painted.
I do get the motivation from comments online and from watching other armies. The new models help too, they really force you to paint them.

You know, the hardest part of the whole project are the individual squads with conversions and different types of models. Vehicles and warriors are all done pretty quickly it's always the same over and over again.
Too much time is spend on simply testing stuff or thinking about how to paint a unit. A unit is done a lot faster when I don't having to think or test anything. Good example to illustrate this is my first 2 raiders. I have to do some testing, tihnking about colors, how I was going to paint these vehicles, etc... Once I had done all the tihnking, the next few raiders and ravager were done very fast. I got 11 raiders and 3 ravagers painted so far
I've calculated how if I spend 1 year on skimmers only I can probably paint all the ones left unpainted so far.
If I do the same for warriors, I calculated I can do about 200-300 in a year easily.
The skimmer thing, it's what I'm going to do, I'm going to spend several months on vehicles only , that way I'll paint a big piece of the army.

Warriors, wyches old & new both take very little time to paint., the models are quite simple and easy to paint. Nowhere similar to models like Beastmasters who have so many different details to paint.
The old raiders and ravagers as well as the current Venom don't take much time, big pieces but simple to paint. I'm wondering how long it will take me to do the new raiders & ravagers.
Reavers old & new are also quite simple. In something like 5 years, I'll have most of the army painted, 5 years means nothing in the 40k world, when you see I've been doing this hobby 3 times longer than that.

You know, the worst part is that also have an eldar army, Tau, necron and tyranids.
The eldar are quite a large force and I'll need a lot of work on them, basically have to repaint most of the army.
Tau are half painted, an OK force, no clue when i'll work on them.
Necron, though small force, it's all painted and nid isn't really that big, compared to my eldar armies, but all the 190 models are painted.

People often wonder why so much, and why do I still plan on expanding?
Simple, because I can. It's just about having a ridiculous amount of models. it's the reason why I play nids, just tons of insects, just so cool. It's cooler with dark eldar though.

I'm gonna need 200 warriors more !

I have two questions by the way, where can i find the rules of those Soul cages of yours ? And Can i borow you one of the pictures of your army for the french speaking DE forum "les voleurs d'âmes" ?

LoL sure, if you're in the area, you can come visit me and my huge army, but I think you'll go nuts when you notice it's not my only army XD. I live right under Brussels. The french border isn't that far, but it's not that close either. Once everything is painted, it would be funny to get both armies together at something like the french Gamesday (too bad this year there is no french gamesday)

Yeah you can use those Soulcage pictures, they're scratchbuild, you can't buy them. I'm glad you like them. The 3 superheavies are WIP, I still work on them from time to time, scratch building stuff takes a very long time.

You can expand your force all you want, but I also got plenty of stuff to buy too. If you want to catch up to my force, you seriously have a lot to buy. It's not just buying, painting it all is a problem too, I got several years worth of painting myself.

Would be cool if we can meet one day to do an apocalypse together, all comoragh will be rumbling Razz. Didn't saw if you have kept a record of how much points you had... Don't worry i'll never try to take from you the title of the biggest DE army. I have to keep someone over my head, so i can tell people there's still guys more crazy about DE than me Very Happy.

Thanks for the permission, i'm gonna share those pics of yours right away.

Sorry about that, i've already asked, but do you know where can i find the rules of your soulcages ?

We could do a alliance of both Kabals, but I don't have that much painted, not enough at this moment, I keep painting every month, I only paint my Dark Eldar, but progress is slow. Transporting dark eldar, apocalypse sized armies is just so troublesome, then there's the distance. In the future maybe, if we still have contact with eachother, why not. Once I get enough painted, I'll start gaming more actively.

The Kabal of the Ragging Bullet also has a very similar type of purple, with the same type of highlights, there are so many purple Kabals on the net. Even Vect himself should fear the sheer number of purple armies.

No offocial rules for an unofficial skimmer Wink. There are 2 types of those Superheavy skimmers BTW.

The rules I have so far:

The soulcage has Has 3 Dark Lances + either 2 Splinter cannon or 2 disintegrators topside. Transport capacity of 30 + 2 independant characters.

3 structure points, around 500 points ,a bit like a baneblade, it's baneblade size (though somewhat taller) I haven't come up with points yet, as the rules have changed a lot, old custom rules for vehicle making don't exist anymore, I'll work on the rules and make an Apocalypse datasheet when it's 100% finished.

This is mainly a transport vehicle, I'm not sure what to do with the cage in the middle yet, either it has a purpose or it doesn't.

The Massacre Gunboat:

3 structure points, cost, 500-600 points ?

7 Dark Lances first floor, 2 disintegrators (or something else) on the top + one Heavy Dark Lance

This superheavy has a Black matter Generator, with all of its weapons linked to it.
The dark lances have 2 firering modes, normal and charged. The charged version allows them to shoot double the normal number of shots. The Heavy Dark Lances also has 2 modes, normal and charged, no definitive rules yet, but I intend to use Apocalypse blasts.
You can either charge the Heavy Dark Lance or the Dark Lances, not both. You only get to pick one option in each phase.

If the vehicle is destroyed, you've got a very big and bad explosion, due to the Dark Matter going lose, similar concept to an Imperial titan going down

The new Apocalypse is coming, even more confusion to the bunch. As I said, once I finish them for 100% and have them painted, I'll make an Apocalypse Datasheet.

I can tell you this, later this year I'll be working on my vehicles only, I plan on finishing at least one of the Soulcages (I made 2, made 1 Massacre Gunboat), by then I'll make some official rules. I'll try to work some more on the Massacre gunboat too. I don't work on these vehicles, because they take a lot of time, the result you see on the pictures took months to do. In a day I can make a single part of the vehicle, some parts even took me days to make.

You can always try to make rules yourself, but I see no point if you don't have the vehicles :p.
If you want to know the proportions, length, height, etc...it's pretty easy, take the old raider, mesure it and double it! Yep, it's that easy. Asides from that, everything else is my own choice, like the tripple front hull.

Very nice of you to share that stuff ^^ And thanks for the "crafting" explanations.

Don't plan to play that kind of stuff for know, got enough problems with finding transports for my lazy DE who don't wanna walk. But i really like to discover new stuff,  especially when it looks great !

Sorry about my sick curiosity and thanks for all, à tantôt !

That is really impressive. Nice to see the old models still have a home and, as you say, they fit in well. I still think the old plastic warriors are pretty nice, though I was never keen on most of the metals in the range.

On that point, I see you have old plastic warriors converted to carry various heavy/special weapons - where did you get those? Did they just come off the metal ones? Or is there some other source? (I recently made some Blasterborn using 2nd edition Eldar plasma guns, which I think look close enough to Blasters.)

it's all greenstuff or just converted. The blasters were recasts with greenstuff. The dark Lances were made with 2 old Splinter cannons and a lot of patience. I glue 2 SC barrels together, cut off the spike on both sides, cut the part on the botton, leaving only a barrel with spikes on the top, like the real DLs. I filed the tip of the cannon, then put the tip of a SC to represent the tip of the DL. SOme more work is done on the other parts of the gun too
You know what I'll post a short tutorial right here, the old tutorial got lost in a site maintenance of an old blog of mine. In case some people find these useful:

DL tutorial

Basically you want something similar to these guns:
These are very important references, you need to look at them, you basically want to duplicated similar guns.

You need a lot of spare parts like these:

With this tutorial you can make 2 plastic Dark Lances using 3 old splinter cannons. If you have too many splinter cannons and don't screw up things, you'll be happy with this tutorial. AS you all know, the only DLs the old warriors had, were metal ones, or either you took them from scourges.

The trigger was obtained from a normal splinter riffle, ,the second gun show how you should remove certain parts of the gun, remove gems and symbols.

The next imagine shows how you glue together the 2 barrels and get rid of the spikes on both sides.
In the previous imagine I got rid of the lower part of the barrel too.

The point is to glue this tip of a SC to the tip of the barrel, you have to file down the end of the barrel, thiner towards the tip, exactly like the real DL. Once you've filed down the tip, you can glue the tip.

In the next step I use the lower part of the base of the SC barrel, to put on the top, after I cut it up a little, I also cut and replaced the sides shown on the image. I found alternatives to this step, like greenstuff, different, but same result is acheived, remember, watch the old DLs, you're trying to duplicated them.

You can use several trigger, either from splinter riffles or from an old splinter pistol too. I also cut a little piece of a riffle to put on the back of the DL, for extra detail, kind of like the scourge DLs.

This step can be ignored, it's purely for the sake of details. I re added a gem I had previously cut off, I also added, whatever a splinter riffle has on the side, to add as extra detail.

A bit more in details at the base of the barrel, the picture should explain quite well what I did

Some more details on the parts you have to cut off. Again, look at the old DLs, you want similar guns.

converted vs real deal

People have told me this uses quite a lot of parts, I know, but If you've got the and you've got time to spare and an eye for detail, you can make some plastic DLs with your old Splinter cannons. Frankly, people can't tell the difference at times.

Endresult, you've got painted pictures & close ups at the beginning of the thread if you search for them

_____________________________________________________________________

Old Reaver blasters, using greenstuff

You use the same reaver splinter riffle, you can't complain about too many parts used for this tutorial! You simply cut it up like this. Again, use the the old one as a refence, always look at it, trying to duplicated as good as possible.

I used some thin copper wire (as thin as possible) , on the back I used some different type of wire, coming from certain parts of electronic devices, if you've got old electronic devices: crack them open and you might find both types of wires.

Everything else is basic greenstuff sculptic, I was very new at greenstuff at this point trust me, even I could pull this off. Now there's nothing I can't make with greenstuff.

Then you just finish by glue the cables in the back,

I mass produced these blasters and Dark Lances as you can see.

___________________________________________________________

On the Warrior blasters, like I said, I just re-casted an incubi blaster. The molds and greenstuff aren't really made for this, I had quite a lot of cutting to do on the casts themselves, but I also mass produced these. With the new models all these problems for solved, I got a lot of spare blasters, DLs, etc...all from the fact that the various plastic units all have they neccessary weapons.

____________________________________________________________________________

I also made some casts of of the old Raider side ramps, to use as bases for the old warriors, when i put them on the raiders, they would look perfect. I basically just made a cast on a raider. At this point I used coocking oil on the casts, this way the greenstuff didn't stick together and the cast came off nicely.

______________________________________________________________________

Another fast tutorial

Most people don't really pay attention to my harlies, but they should, most smarter eldar players noticed immediately: all these Harlequins have a harlequin kiss, ALL except the troop leader. In case you're not familair with harlequins, only 2 in the box have a kiss.
Those not familiar with harlequins probably don't know you should equip all your harlies with kisses, this is the weapon that makes this unit so good.

here you need the work more clearly:

The main components came to me very naturally, the barrel of an old Splinter riffle + some small part of a new splinter pistol. You need small quantity of greenstuff to form the kiss as well., again, use the real deal as a reference, you'll see what I mean.

No final painted pictures, but you can expect them in a few weeks, those Harlequins are on my painting table, I only put models on there I intend to paint next.

This picture is for Herbert:

We've both done raiders in packs of 5, but you've never done flyers in packs of 4 :p

(this is an old picture BTW)

I really appreciate these type of comments, thx. Encouragements like these push to me paint more.

A small WIP picture, currently doing the skin on some wyches.
When I say skin, I usually also mean, eyes and any small face features. It's just how I do it, I do the skin & eyes before doing anything else. I did various layers. At this point I'm ready to start doing the shading the toning of te skins itself. I really need the basic skin color to start the real work. It took quite a lot of time, some of the skin areas on the succubus and on Lelith were very troublesome. The skin on the wyches is quite a lot of the entire work, the black suit is done fast, the army as well, it's the small details that take quite some time to do. At this point I can also start working on the Hellions skin, the basic tone was done a long time ago, but now I'm going to start working on them to see them finished, also going to paint one Reaver and one Scourge.

The succubus was converted ,based upon the Artwork drawn by Jes Goodwin, one of the wyches was also converted based upon the artwork from the codex, close ups when they're finished : ), no other spoilers for now. Trust me, these 2 models are just so awesome, they'll be so awesome once painted, worth the time I spend on them.

Wow, thanks for those tutorials.

Funnily enough, I'd just been thinking of doing a Harlequin's Kiss using the splinter rifle barrel and bit out of the splinter pistol.

Figures its another Belgian who'd do this.

Updates!

I made a Facebook page

https://www.facebook.com/DarkMoonKabal

I won't make a twitter page, don't worry XD, but I made a FB page. It's an easy way to post random updates and whatever. You'll find more frequent updates on it than in here.

I had finished my Razorwings flocks some time ago together with some other stuff:

Here is the full beast squad:

Also finally finished the base on my first Razorwing fighter. I went for the battlefield look, I just had to do it, it's the first thing I imagined doing with those lances with skulls on them, when I first saw the new raider models.

I know it's my model, but it's just so cool, when I hold it, I'm so amazed. One of my favorite models I own for sure.

I'm going to start making Commorragh bases, as eventually some day I hope to start working on some Commorragh terrain. Inspired from the GW artwork and terrain used at the launch of the current dark eldar range. Nobody has ever made a real full dark eldar terrain, I'm talking at in Commorragh terrain, eventually I'll get there, trust me. Only death can stop me.
First base in this style, I'll make some for the 20 unpainted warriors too. This way when I've got the terrain, models will fit in perfectly.

Tutorial can be found on the FaceBook page

A random picture, I just wanted to set up some of my nids vs some of my dark eldar, a table full of painted models is just such an awesome sight.

More to come soon as I'm resuming painting.

Partially, waiting for more painted stuff to start doing epic apoc battles, it's frankly not fun to field unpainted or partially models, apoc is only epic is everything is painted.

I have played apoc battles though.

It's mostly a display army, to enjoy by those who get to watch it, close to impossible to field all, even if it was painted. Having so many units means that I can get very creative with lists, geowing bored of this army is hard.

It's the beer! XD
A good economy, a good job, easy access to GW and FW models, all combined gives birth to such insane projects. This would be a lot more difficult to do in Australia where GW models cost twice as much as here...

My models have been displayed in the GW brussels at times btw, that's my main shop, though I have bought stuff in Antwerp or Gent, even Liege or Namur XD (drive a lot around Belgium with my job) , but I have only had stuff displayed in Brussels as it's the closed to my home.
In a Year or 2, I'll have the perfect "basic" apoc force to use in the apoc battles they organise. I still need mainly a lot of skimmers to be painted, before I start doing serious apoc battles.
