My local club are running a 40k campaign which also involves a mini kill team campaign map on the side. Games are 200 points for which you can take:
0-1 Elites
0-2 Troops
0-1 Fast attack
No fliers or MCs
Also 3 models are allowed to pick a USR from the BRB.

I was just wondering what people would use at such a small points level and what USR's you would choose? I had considered 7 Reavers with 2 blasters and an arena champ with venom blade.

Venom with Extra Splinter Cannon, Night Shields, FlickerField

USR:

Psycher: Dracon

Fleshbane: Splinter Cannon

Armorbane: Blaster

I love the idea of fleshbane on the splinter cannon but I don't think we're allowed to choose Psyker unfortunately. Also your kill team requires a break test once 25% have died so I think I'd rather go with more models over a venom.

DE are allowed to choose Psyker, however we are limited to Biomancy or Pyromancy.

Fair point but consider what those 2 splinter cannon are likely to do to your opponent before you discard the venom...

We had a similar tournament at my local GW. I ran the following:

8 Reavers, 2 w. Heatlance.

USR's: Stealth and Shrouded on the Heatlances and armourbane on one of the other reavers for popping shrouded skimmers.

I won all but my first game where I was learning the ropes with my squad. The last game I felt sorry for my opponent who had only boyz with pistols. I could have kept my distance without risk of return fire, but I kept them within rage so he could do something.

Killteams present:

BA Terminator squad
Spacemarine Sterguard with a shrouded Landspeeder. He came 2nd, very close game
2 Nurgle marine squads
Necrons Warriors or Immortals with flyer suport
Tau Firewarriors with suit support

This...

I came in second in my local KT tournament using the above list.

I only lost 1 match, and that was due to an insane amount of saves one unit of Termies had.

If you can't take Psycher though due to rules, Put Rending on the other Splinter Cannon.

Technically Armourbane on a Splinter Rifle equipped Reaver would do nothing as Splinter Weapons do not work on vehicles. Would only effect them in CC which still would not give them a high enough strength.

3+2d6, not reliable, but able to punch through the shrouded landspeeder I faced. I got lucky and got +1 str on combat drugs, it made it easier.

I've actually got 9 reavers ordered so I might give them a try for my kill team at some point. The other idea that I had was 10 warriors with splinter cannon and blaster with 4 Trueborn with 2 SCs and a blaster but the more i think about it the more appealing a venom seems.

I'm a newbie whose never played Dark Eldar before and I decided that a good way to get used to the mechanics was to play in my LGS KT campaign.

Out of ten players I ranked 1st with 47 KP, 3 wins and 0 loses. Though now everyone is out for my list, someone said they're going to drag out a Riptide just for me. Maybe I should be flattered?

I used the following.

Lady Seras ( Dracon ) Ghostplate Armor / Agoniser / Plasma Grenade ( Rage ) Mask of Fear [ MoF is a campaign upgrade that causes Fear ]

Xects ( Trueborn ) Dark Lance / Plasma Grenade ( Relentless )

Zara ( Trueborn ) Dark Lance / Plasma Grenade

Venom 2x Splinter Cannons / Night Shield ( Shrouded )

It's only four models, but at the exact same time through maneuvering, luck and taking out targets of opportunity I was able to force routing tests. Lady Seras was equipped the way she was as a last minute effort to shove anyone whose on the objective off, at least that was the theory, but by the time I approached the objective with my Venom my opponents were already winnowed down to units that couldn't hurt the vehicle or they failed their LD test.

There were a few moments where I couldn't use my speed as I had grabbed a Relic ( it was already in the vehicle per mission requirements ) which slowed me down to six inches but by back pedaling and shooting I was able to survive.

Hell, talk about a glass cannon, but at the exact same time I haven't had this much fun playing 40k in forever.

This might be the beginning of a small Dark Eldar army. . .

I've been wondering: since in Kill Team individual models count as their own units, aren't Venoms complete overkill? What do you use them for?

Taking out Tau suits, Hiveguard and Beasts of Nurgle.

By forcing all those saves upon a single model, it'll more or less guarantee that I'll be removing that model. The LGS and game group also decided that since it's open top, the embarked Trueborn can shoot at any individual target. I can effectively remove three targets every shooting phase if I'm rolling decent. Plus it gives me a platform to do a final push for the objective.

Here's what I use. It has served me well: http://www.thedarkcity.net/t5971-cavash-s-kill-team#67113

Splinter Cannon with Fleshbane really does shread apartanything it touches. Without it I wouldn't have done as well as I did.

A splinter cannon with rending seems like it would be really effective.

don't hate me for necroposting, but I just read the rules and had to write this up...

ten Warriors, whose ranks include...
one Sybarite with Venomblade (leader)
one Warrior with Splinter Cannon and Fleshbane (2+ wound)
one Warrior with Shrouded (2+ to cover saves - she's the sniper!)
mounted on a Raider with Dark Lance, Tankhunter (reroll failed vehicle penetration rolls or successful glances), Nightshields, Splinter Racks, Chain Snares.

roll around, blast 'em, run 'em over! get hit by lascannons, crash, burn! stumble from the wreckage, shoot blast 'em some more!

I read the KT rules as disallowing individual soldiers to disembark from transports-- I would def amend that. How cool would it be for warriors to jump and roll off of low-skimming raiders, one at a time? How cool would it be for guard veterans to storm out a chimera in groups of 3-4, clustering into cover?

edit: PS, it seems within the KT rules to give a skimmer "shrouded" for a 3+ jink.
