Well, there's currently two main builds that I use.

High Archon Farath Müre - 180
Huskblade, Venom Blade, Soul-trap, Combat Drugs, PGL, Shadowfield

This Archon goes around with Incubi to take down particularly choice targets.

Lady Vaelia Müre - 110
Venom Blade, Haywire Grenades, Combat Drugs, Shadowfield

More of a budget HQ, usually with a squad of Wyches, again looking for targets of opportunity.

(11/5/2013: A few things have been added to the Kabal's fluff, most notably shifting their base of operations into the Webway, sort of, and adding an alliance with the Alpha Legion, or at least a few heads of the hydra.)

It all comes down to what you expect your Archon to face. One of the main downsides when it comes to DE overall is low strength and toughness. In the meantime we are one of the most sly races out there and know how to mitigate our flaws =)

Soul trap:
Some people never leave our beloved city with out one, I on the other hand seldom face that many MC's or IC's to make it worthwhile. Some weapon set ups gets insanely better with a successful trap though, like the normal power weapon and the husk blade.

Power weapon:
The only time a power weapon can trump an agoniser is when you manage to trap a soul with your soul trap. With this said I would only go with a power weapon if I had a soul trap, if not an agoniser feels like a more solid choice.

Ghost plate:
Another thing I would like to mention is the Ghost plate. I run a ghost plate/shadow field combo from time to time but only if I don't need those points from the plate somewhere else. Truth be told, when the shadow field fails you are in most cases dead already =P

But as Farath stated, you might want to add some more gear depending on what you face =)

And then add to that if points are free.
AP2 and ID scares almost any char, even those with good wards.

Soul trap is a bit hit and miss,

Lots of good advice, cheers people. Probably drop Ghostplate (shadow field hasn't failed yet Razz), yes streamlining gear depending on who I face seems sensible.

what are your opinions on webway portals?

I wouldn't take one on an Archon. They're much too expensive to leave in the open after they activate it. I wouldn't take one on a haemonculus either, as they generally aren't very useful.

Think about it this way:

To have a webway toting Haemy is 85 points.

To have a webway when you're running an Archon anyway is 35 points.


That said, if you do it like that you will probably want to have your Archon hang out with some Harlequins, Beasts, or Grotesques so he can survive the shooting phase. Incubi don't like being bullet sponges.
