I don't know, did you see the Finecast version of the 1990's Space Wolves Rune Priest in Terminator armor being re-released this week? I wouldn't put it past GW to just "Finecast" the old Drazy for the hell of it. Evil or Very Mad

Or the circa 1995 'Nid Ripper bases, in spite of perfectly good, current edition Rippers already being available in plastic in various other kits? Embarassed

I have a metal Drazhar - two, in fact - and will continue to use that. It's my favourite model from the old range and still looks great. The new one could go either way as far as I am concerned, especially after what else has been getting released lately in Failcast.

It's sad when they release old sculpts that people didn't buy when they were CHEAPER and BETTER CASTED and hope they'll sold due to fact they are made from resin...

Wooo, look, resin-resin-resin!

If they make Vect, I doubt they'll make the Dais. Didn't kelly say that the reason the thing has so crappy rules is because he threw it in as a last minute addition so people who have th old model could still use it?

Seriously? I have never heard that before. DE without Vect, what were they smoking?

Would explain a lot if true, but even so, given how much thought and effort went into the rest of the codex by the authors, I'm still amazed at how poor that entry is.

Lets face it - built in night shields, flickerfields and aerial assault would have made the dais worth the points... Hell even just AA and the raider options would have seen it used more!

You kinda miss the reason here, they recast things cause they want to stop produce metall minis at all.
Cause resin production is cheaper. It has nothing to do with quality, more with marketing efforts and reducing costs in long term.

And reducing costs will surely dont mean reducing prices )
As we all already know. When they switch to cheaper resin with cheaper equipment and raise prices. ))
Non-elastic good and all that.

I'm more concerned we would be stuck with XX years old models for next YY years...

And yes, I use double digit since we had to wait over decade for new book.

Tho I REALLY hope this would not happen..

Back in 3rd dark eldar were not as popular as they are now(they were about as common as sister's of battle around here, despite being in starter box), so we shouldn't have to wait as long for next codex.

Strange, but ever popular SpOrks (most recognized enemy, even for people that only heard about 40k from friend) received similar treatment - codex from 3rd edition wait till 5th (technically, 4th but it was released during it's last legs), then years for models release and FAQs... considering how DE are "done" modelwise, I doubt we would see it soon (in fact, I fear GW will be dead by then).

Same with "not Marines". Apparently GW treat Xenos as paper cutouts used during Marines firing exercises.

I could see Orks being an early 6th edition offering - they are one of the more popular armies and certainly are competitive for 'most codices'

For DE, new popularity or not, we'll probably not see a new Dex till somewhere around 8th edition.
My prediction - you heard it here first Wink

Ther is another problem - LotR. I can see GW going all crazy with Hobbit, basically leaving 40K and WFB without attention in 2012-13 (they did that once already and, in fact, always did - did You've noticed they rarely put stuff for two systems at once?).

Not sure if it's bad or good, I can only hope "Kirby and sons" would try to milk little people while leaving rest without "Rule 1 - buy this unit!".

Well nothing to stop communities putting together their own rules, all it takes for it to be 'official' is for enough people to agree it is so.

Just think people could do propper 'unofficial' GW rules that are sanctioned by the community , WE get decent rules , GW sells more models for all races , everyone is happy ?

God knows how you would actually make it happen but frankly I think at the start of each edition all the cod'x should be updated along with the edition , that way the dex's would be updated alongside the core rules (this can only be a good thing)

Then GW can just release the mini ranges in waves as they have been or release something for everything each month ? considering there wont be any other races and everything actually has a serviceable mini range already it could work.

Remember though, gw is a model company first and formost, rules to use their minis is just secondary (possibly teritary) to them

Yup, so why dont people who want the rules do the rules , there are plenty of third part companies springing up, chapterhouse etc etc , maybe fantasy flight would do a better job ?

Unless of course GW does realise that the books do sell and also contol how things selll...that would then ultimately make them ...... a rules company that makes miniatures....

They certainly wouldn't allow people do their job, for free. Not if thin book cost more than box of infantry or tank. Big book (which should be first buy for ALL players) cost even more.

I see "we make models, not rules" as poor excuse for "in this edition, buy this and this, in next this and this".

In 4th ed transport vehicles were coffins made from compressed dynamite sheets.
Now they are mighty cruisers.

GW did good rules in past and in fact, they are still able. But old "carrot on the stick" trick works better for them.
I mean... if You spend some money on 40K, You wouldn't drop buying models, hence whole hobby, right?

Oh, wait \/

I don't think it's unimaginable to think that Forge World wouldn't pick up the Dais, assuming a Vect model came out.

They've shown recently with the Canoptek Scarabs that they're not afraid or unable to do something straight out of a codex.

Still waiting for when FW decides to do Raider upgrade kits.

FW does tend to feature new lines that attract them - I'd give the DE a fair chance to be featured in an IA, those models are sexy enough to seduce anyone.

New Dark Eldar characters before Summer?

I do remember an old rumour which had Jes say he and Juan are going to do Vect, Malys and Sliscus, so I'll hope and pray to every deity....RELEASE VECT, MALYS AND SLISCUS!!

This will probably put me off doing any of my ideas for those 3 until its confirmed what characters we are getting...( if any....if its Decapitator, I will be a Sad Panda =[ )

I really hope it will be Jes models, so far he done a great job with Archon, Lelith and Urien.

Just for the record, Lelith is sculpted by Juan Diaz. And I thought Urien too by the way. Smile

On topic, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a new Drazhar miniature. I loved the old one, but seeing the current range I bet they could even make him more awesome. And his looks should tie in more with the new Incubi. Else he looks a bit silly on the tabletop IMHO.

Does anyone else put these two rumours together to say we may be getting goodies in May?

New news on Voidraven and potentially special characters as well, quote referenced and thread title changing to reflect rumours.

To feed some actual rumors in here.

Wave 1 in june is as bow has revealed. But i am expecting the de bomber before end of summer along with a tau and chaos sm flyer. The csm flyer is likely w the codex so the other two may have "something" with them.

Looking at the rumour calendar on Warseer it looks like August is the best bet; it's not too unimaginable to think that the "something" may be special characters.

Would be nice to finally see the Voidraven. I don't waiting, I don't really mind it never existing, but I'd still love to see what GW would do for it. The same goes for the off chance of some more characters, although to hope to Shaddom that Malys is not just "BEWBS!" like the new lady vampire models.

Dunno why someone wants a model of the "I cant even kill myself"-Bomber. We should forget about it and the Decrapitator forever.

The Voidraven has no need to kill itself, that's what the flashlights of the Imperial Guard are for. Wink And the reason either of them are wanted is simple, they current range is gorgeous, with one expection (I'm looking at you monopose Grote), so the chance to paint either of them would be nice. The Void Raven would allow for even more awesome freehand than the Razorwing has seen (I'm assuming here it would be bigger) and if cappy is posed like the artwork he'd be a fantastic painters piece.

But we're getting away from rumors soooo...*goes off looking for some salt*
