Hello everyone,

For grins Im going to start working on some of the DE achievements and was curious as to what constitutes a

A coven would consist of units that generally have 4 or higher toughness, and don't have fleet. Its all the Haemonculus and their fleshy construct creatures. Wracks become your troops. Grotesques, Talos and Cronos engines.

A kabal would be the kabalite warriors/trueborn, the archon. the raiders/ravagers (though you'll probably be using these in most of the lists) and probably the Incubi too, though they arent strictly a kabal unit.

and a wych cult would obviously be the succubi and their wyches/bloodbrides. with the various other gladiatorial units. like reavers, hellions and beastmasters.

some units would be seen in more than one list type. like the raiders and ravagers. and im not sure where scourges would fit in. they are essentially very rich kabalites who have gone to haemonculi for alterations. so would work in both those lists.

mandrakes i have no idea, but they dont seem to be a very reliable unit.

anyway, I hope i got most of that correct. Hope I helped.

Thanks Caldria Smile

I had used a sort of rule of thumb that if the model had armor it was a kabal. If it was mostly fleshy and nasty looking it was coven and everything else was wyches. Now that Im getting more specific tho, I wasent sure where the hellions/ BM and reavers fit in.

No worries ^^, glad i could help.

And ye, the reavers are just wyches who have decided that high speed killing on bikes is more entertaining than on foot in the arenas.

Hellions arent really gladiators, they're more outcasts. But they fit more with a cult (seeing as they are gang orientated) than any of the other 2.

Beastmasters, as far as I'm aware, are male wyches only or were once wyches, and have adopted somewhat shamanistic ways of the beastmaster tradition. (It could almost be like the male answer to the female Succubi, although a beastmaster only commands beasts and not other wyches)

but as far as the "anything fleshy and nasty looking thing goes" thats quite a good rule of thumb for coven units xD

Kabal:

Archon
Trueborn
Incubi
Warriors
Scourges
Ravagers
Raiders
Razorwing
Void Raven

Cult:

Succubus
Bloodbrides
Wyches
Hellions
Reavers
Beastmasters
Venom
Razorwing
Void Raven

Coven:
Haemonculus
Grotesques
Wracks
Scourges
Talos
Chronos

Unasociated:
Mandrakes
Harliequins

Now this isnt how you have to stick, as Im sure Coven's have their own supply of Raiders for transportation and Cults use Ravagers when they go to war, but this is just a rule of thumb

I'd say Scourges are unaligned aswell. The Dark Eldar that become Scourges probably usually come from Kabals, but the Scourges ahev their own organisation, acting as messagers and mercenaries for the Kabals.

agreed, the fluff suggests that scourges are messengers and therefore I wouldn't have them aligned. Personally i think they fit comfortably with kabalite and coven themed forces, i've included them in my collection, which excludes coven units. Couldn't not have the models though!

The problem being while they are their own seperate enitity, so are Hellions and Reavers. The reason I aligned them with a Kabal and Coven is the Kabal is most likely to pay them, and the Coven are the ones that make them.

Same could be said about the Jets, the pilots are rich Reaver pilots (their own seperate force, but as we all agree close to Cults) but Kabal's are more likely to pay for their services since they need the most defense.

razorwings should be in all catagories reavers are since, they are former area champions. I think the reavers should be in both kabal and cult, since either could feel the need for speed. And the toroid arenas are separate, so could be attached to a kabal spire (if archon is big race fan) or a wych arena. The hellions probably should be in unassociated section.

Basically, Incubi, Scourges, Reavers and Hellions are all their own factions. I'd probably place the jets in the Reaver faction, since they're basically richer Reavers. Hellions are definitely their own faction in Commoragh.

yes, and while they are their own faction, they are still heavily more associated with one of the original 3 (Kabal, Cult, Coven) more than the others, hence why they are under what they are. Also an interesting side note is when you read on the Jet Pilots, while they are ex-Reavers, it seems like the Kabals are the ones that fund them (give them a place to land, fuel, ammo, that sort of things) so its interesting diconomy with them
