PostSubject: Doom's day device advice.   Sun Nov 27, 2011 7:32 pm

Hi there; I am hosting a Doom's day device building competition at my game club. As i am hosting this event I want to make something amazing and really dark eldary. I was thinking of making some form of soul sucking tower or device with a web way portal on it somewhere.

The rules
Quote:
All contestants must enter a doom's day device that measures no more than 12" X 12" at the base and no more than 3' tall. Mind you, that size does not mean victory; A well executed piece of awesomeness does.

All entries will be due on April 1st 2012.

The devices will be judged on
~state of completion
~army theme
~and finishing details |painting, modeling, etc|

So what do you all think for a dark eldar soul siphon and the competition in general?

If You can, you probably want alter rules

I would boost height limit to 6". 3" is like Razorback. Most stock models are higher., especially if You would add skimmer base.

Also not sure about this... army theme. Is that with theme of army, or just "generic race theme"? Anyway You should judge only DDD model.

Thanks for the interest local ork. To clarify the maximum hight of the model is 3' |three feet| tall not 3". There are a verity of army's in our group and I wanted all army's to have a chance to do something themed toward there army. We have 2xnids, 2xchaos, 1xtau, 2xDeldar, 1xeldar, 1xtemplar, 1xBangels, 1xguard and I think thats it so I wanted everyone to do something that fits with there army so that they can use them in games. From massive tentacle monsters to falling meteorites noone can escape doom.

Ps what dose ddd mean?

O gees that is a scary looking... storm? I don't know but its cool.

By army theme I meant how the DDD |lol i should have understood that one| fits in with the owners army. If a nid player uses a mechanical bomb that would not make much sense. But if they grew a three story spore mine that would fit in with there theme. but your right that that could use some clarification.

As for my Dark Eldar Soul Sucker I was thinking this pic from soul storm would make a good DDD. It would be dark Grey with a turquoise WWP. The WWP would be 3" so the whole width would be something like 5"x5"x8 or 10". The ball is foam and the containment bars would probably be made from duct tape cut thinly. The walls would probably be thin plasticard glued over a MDF frame built to allow for the curving walls. If there is a base it would probably be a high gloss black brick which is what I see Commorragh as having in places.

What do you think?

In my head I have the idea of prisoners being sucked into a vortex or some kind of cage - a slave ship kind of image.

I'd look at a modded Razorwing that is sucking people up which then go into a cage on the back of the vessel and then they're souls are being harvested into a giant cannon that is mounted on top of the cage. The base (flight stand) could be made out of imperial guard floating up through the air with lots of red glow effects.

I would tataly do that if I had the funds but I am working from a budget of $1.50 so I think a razor wing is out of the question. But that would be sooo awsome.
