 2K - Kabal + Cult Lite

Hi all,

So I tried my 1.5K list that was modified from criticism from you folks here and it did swimmingly - Came 3rd in a 20 man tourny and went toe to toe against some very competitive lists! I'm currently looking towards a 2k version of it now and have come up with the following:

Total Points: 1999
Total CP: 14

Battalion - +5cp
Detachment - Kabal of the Black Heart

HQ:

  • Archon - Blaster, Agonister, Warlord (Cunning trait), Writ Of Living Muse
  • Drazhar (Bare with me!)

Troops

  • 5 x Kab Warrior
  • 5 x Kab Warrior
  • 5 x Kab Warrior

Heavy Support

  • Ravager - 3 x Dissies
  • Ravager - 3 x Dissies
  • Ravager - 3 x Dissies

Dedicated Transport

  • Raider - Dark lance
  • Raider - Dark lance

Battalion - +5cp
Detachment - Kabal of the Obsidian Rose

HQ

  • Archon - Agoniser, Blaster
  • Archon - Agoniser, Blaster

Troops

  • 20 x Kab Warrior - 4 x shredders, 2 x splinter cannons
  • 10 x Kab Warrior - 2 x blaster
  • 10 x Kab Warrior - 2 x blaster

Outrider - +1cp
Detachment - Cult of the Red Grief

HQ

  • Succubus - Splinter Pistol, The Blood Glaive

Fast Attack

  • 12 x Reavers - Agoniser, 4 x Blasters, 4 x Grav-Talons
  • 5 x Scourges - 4 Haywire Blasters
  • 5 x Scourges - 4 Haywire Blasters

Dedicated Transport

  • Venom - No splinter Cannon upgrade

This gives me 14 CP and a lot of flexibility.

Decisions Explained

  • Drazhar is only there as an HQ tax - But, he pairs quite nicely with the role of my succubus who runs defence and interception for deep striking problems. So the two of them will be holding hands on the venom
  • Blasters on the reavers - I love this combo, cannot recommend blasters on reavers enough, I've had a lot of fun zipping about with them. They do take a lot of heat but I've always made up their points.
  • 20 Kabalite Warriors - This is my shredder bomb. I place these guys in the webway and when they drop they typically wreck everything. The extra 6 inches from the Obsidian Rose allows me to be quite flexible when deep striking. The morale stratagem has proved immensely useful in keeping this unit on the table!


What are your thoughts? I was tempted to just add 500 points worth of covens but I really like the Black Heart and Obsidian Rose stratagems and effects!

I like it, it's different and it looks solid. Other than the 4 hq tax, I think everything fits. It does give multiple hit bubbles and you can probably keep your warlord back out of the fight while the other Archons push up and give bubbles.

I definitely like the shredder bomb and I think the big CP pool will benefit them a ton. I could see the shredder bomb dropping in at 15" away, wrecking something then fire and fading back into cover. Definitely have to drop them in turn 2-3 depending and then using architects of pain turn 3 to make them fearless.

I'm still iffy on scourges, I really want to like them and I think they work well in combination with other anti tank like you have them here. I'm curious to see how drahzar performs as well. Fighting twice with onslaught does seem really strong for wrecking smaller units that over extend or being a scalpel with the succubus to kill off elite units.

The 4 HQ tax does suck, but in reality - They're not that bad and all fit in a nice roll here. I've found that I can still move my ravagers as my archon can typically advance >12 inches each turn.

The shredder bomb is amazing - I didn't even think of architects of pain! Great idea. Are you able to fire and fade something that deep striked?

I've found the scourges to be brilliant - And bar one turn (Where I needed them to be amazing) they've been my most reliable unit.

I think Drahzar might be a diamond in the rough here. Without Incubi, he looks so out of place but I can imagine my opponent will think twice after seeing him and my succubus charge into units that have, as you say - Overstretched.
