 Alliance of Agony + Diabolical Soothsayer

I got my first real 1v1 game in today against my mortal enemy, my buddy's Death Guard. I won pretty handily and was very happy with how the army was playing. This combo seems pretty decent to me to at the very least refund the 1CP for the Alliance of Agony. Is this a viable combo to take or am I just seeing it as an easy way to get more Warlord Traits but it's not worth it?

I like the Prophets of Flesh for the most part as I usually use the Coven units as an Anvil for my Kabal and Cult units hammer.

There is no real reason not to, worst case scenario you break even and nothing happens. Prophets means Urien, who is locked into that warlord trait, and all the generic traits are unimpressive.

What units did you use and how?

I have to play DG soon and have my own ideas, but always like to see what others have done.

BlackHeart+Prophets of the Flesh litterally scream for Alliance Wink -1CP for roll on 6+ and +D3 CP it's great even without any Succubus with you.

Depending on which Haemonculus I'm using, I might well prefer Master Regenesist from a flavour perspective (even though it seems like something Haemonculi should have by default).

For other Haemonculi builds, Soothsayer does seem to be the way to go. In terms of power, tt's hard for anything to match CP generation, really.

For me it is an auto-include. Especially if I am running all three factions. It's a free chance to get 2 more CPs. Plus, I'm not in love with the other Haemy WL traits. Master Regenesist is nice, but for some reason, it seems like whenever my HQs get targeted, my opponent will typically take them down before I ever get a chance to even regen wounds.

My goal was to try some of the units out and get a feel for them. My list was a mix of Kabal, Coven, and Cult. I rolled a Kabal of the Flayed Skull with two Archons (one with the Helm of Spite), four Venoms, five man units with blasters, a Razorwing, a unit of Blaster Scourge, and two Ravangers. My Cult was a Succubus with the BloodGlaive, ten Wyches in a Raider and six Reavers. The Coven aspect of the list was a Hemmy, a Talos, and three Grotesques in a Raider and Ten Wracks.

My Buddy takes a pretty odd List compared to a lot of DG players I think... but he always has done much better than the other Death Guard players at the normal tournament we go. This list was a more for fun list, he used the Giant Dreadnaught thing with 14 wounds, 3 or 4 units of Marines with two blight launchers each, a Fly, a unit of Pox Walkers, Sorcerer, guy with the "hose gun"... I call him "Hose Man" but I'm not sure exactly what he's called lol and Typhus deep striking with a big unit of Termies. The Wyches do an awful lot of attacks but against T5 Marines with FnP it can be hard.

I was able to just focus my Splinter Cannons into his Marine units well enough to twiddle them down, pinking away at the Dread. He makes an awful lot of 5++'s but I made him roll enough to fail eventually. I was able to bait his Typhus into a Deep Strike where I wanted him so that was an error on his part and I was able to play keep away from the unit for the whole game pretty much taking minor damage from their guns. Also, one moment where he didn't quit place the big dread far enough behind his Pox Walkers and I was able to engage him with my Grots after a charge on the Pox Walkers stopping him from shooting on a very clutch turn.

so initially i thought you needed a kabal, a cult, AND a Coven for AoA to work but im just realizing even if i dont have any coven i can still get two warlord traits out of it, is that correct?

im using two kabals, and a cult in my list and as i understand it id pay 1 cp, to get two warlord traits (losing out on the coven one) which would allow me to assign one to my archon warlord, and then 1 to a succubus.

Yep, this is correct. The only necessary component is an Archon as your primary Warlord.

I think alliance + diabolical soothsayer is almost an auto take if you are running kabal and coven.

Master regen would be very tempting if it wasn't for the Fnp style 6+++.

All said and done one of my first lists was a 1k with 3 patrols with an archon, haemonculous and a succubus and I felt paying the command point for extra warlord traits was if nothing else fun because I had wanted to try out varied units from the book in a smaller game to get a feel for everything.

Yep, this is correct. The only necessary component is an Archon as your primary Warlord.

Just to make it clear, you can never get 2 Archons with warlord traits. You start out with your regular Archon warlord, then you pick AoA to get a Succubus and/or a Haemonculus with warlord trait.

I'm not sure Diabolical is allways the better choice, yes you get your cp back at worst but then your heamy is nothing else than a token, their is probably some more offensive buuild we could use with heamy ( less strong for sure but probably viable as well )

Prophet Haemy with Nightmare doll and master artisan, Electric Whip. T5 save4++ FnP 4+++ with reroll 1s. Should stay a while.

If you want to save on the relics:
Haemy with Flesh Gauntlet and master nemesine for that 5+ to wound chance of mortal wound. For 5 points you can add Ichor injector for that once chance of d3 mortal wound.

I also go for the command points because my current list only provides me with a battalion. Therefore, the additional D3 command points are needed badly.
