It'd be easy enough to expand on multi level terrain rules. Such as a maximum of 1 or 2 models can assault a unit on a floor above them, to represent them assaulting up a stairway, ladder or whatever. Then you'd be able to clear space on the floor above and bring the whole unit into the fight.

Has anyone noticed the slight Flayed Skull nerf?

Now their rules only work if they are embarked on a Flayed Skull transport, as opposed to any flying transport.

Karma?

That is simply the way the rules were always intended and to be honest I think everyone knew that from day one but just wanted to act like clever dicks. It does my head in everyone trying to "act" clever by finding loop wholes in the wording of rules. Not aimed at anyone specific on here.

Hence the mention of karma punishing poor reading comprehension.

But no, it actually got nerfed as well as clarified. Before it worked in any flying transport (people were just arguing that Flayed Skull transports gave their benefit to any and all occupants regardless of their obsession), now they must be in their own transports.

Everyone else can still hop into other transports at no penalty (Poisoned Tongue in Black Heart or Flayed Skull transports for example).

And there is still the vagueness of Obsidian Rose benefit of range increase technically being a "modifier", and thus technically applying to any occupants as per Open Topped rule. I don't intend on playing it that way (or even fielding Obsidian Rose for that matter), but it's still out there.

I think that having transports from various obsessions is now even less likely if playing to the rule of 3 due to our HQ problem.

It is tempting to have Venoms from Poison Tongue for the re-roll 1s on the S.C and then have the Raiders from Black Heart for the 6++. In fact with an Archon near by the Venom would be re-rolling 1s to hit and wound which would be sweet.

You could do that right?

Yes, and that's basically where I am at right now.

Poisoned Tongue got a bad rap on here and elsewhere during the initial release, so they are the ones I want to roll with initially. My core list will be Poisoned Tongue Battalion, a Black Heart warlord with a Ravager Spearhead and the source of most/all of the transports, and then the last detachment will be Cult or Coven depending on what I feel like.

I have tried putting lists of all 3 factions together but it's not working for me just yet. I'm more likely to go with Poison Tongue battalion, Red Grief Outrider, Black Heart Spearhead...maybe!

I would potentially swap Black Heart for a PoF Coven patrol...get the x3 warlords and gain D3 CP.

You can indeed. If you're mixing subfactions, I've heard Red Grief Raiders suggested as well, to allow them to advance and charge in the same turn.

I'm quite torn, honestly.
- If I use all 3 factions, then I don't feel I've got quite enough points to go around. So all I really end up with is 3 very anaemic detachments.
- If I use 2 factions, then I have enough points to pad them out a bit, but then Alliance of Agony bugs me. Either I don't use it at all (which leads to the second faction's HQ feeling lacklustre) or else I use it and it feels like a waste because I'm only getting half the value from my CP.
- If I just use Kabal, then I'm using barely 1/3 of my army and will have almost no melee capability.

Honestly, I'm thinking that I'll actually go with the third option. An all-Kabalite army isn't ideal, but it does feel a lot more focused than the other options. It would also allow me to have a large number of troops and transports, which I always like.

I feel like both Coven and Wyches are basically melee components, with the former being the tough beefy kind, while the latter the very speedy nuisance kind. Trying to include both leads to having a little bit of everything, and not enough of anything.

So I like to use Kabal for my core and shooting elements, and supplement with Cults OR Covens. Unless I'm drinking, then all bets are off.

That's pretty much exactly how I feel. I want to use Alliance of Agony, I'm using Reavers no matter what so Cult is in and Kabal is in...it's just fitting Coven in that bugs me.

The FAQ confirmed the way I was playing it, so no real change. And the Void Mine is pretty explicit about a maximum of 10 Dice.

I love my Voidraven, but I feel like they've been left behind a little compared to the Razorwing, and with the changes to Blasters, it's usually easier to just distribute it's point cost in Kabalite Upgrades.

I honestly wish they'd just buff the crap out of it, raise it to 300-350 points and make it our Lord of War. It's almost the size of a Wraithknight!

If you want to play competitive just go grots or talos with coven. They are the real hammer of our army now. Really the fact we cant use three patrol things ( actually we still can btw and if yu had enough CP before then no reason to change ) is not really a big problem . Its quite easy to got the three subfaction together .

I have considered Grots and Talos. Love Talos but don't have any as yet. Grots are a problem for me because I don't like the model being mono pose. I have seen some amazing conversions though using Crypt Horrors so I would be tempted to buy a set of three of those and start converting.

Have a look at my signature and the thread about my Kabal. Easy conversion of Grotesques. I love them. I love them so much, that I don´t need Wyches. (Just a shame because of the Alliance of Agony)

Yes that's pretty much what I came across on google...size wise do they match up well to the Grot model?

For the masks do you use Talos bits?

They are bigger than the mono pose ballett dancing grotesque and yeah, I used Talos masks. It good a big bucket of spare ones.

Awesome...well I have been looking over all the models I could potentially use. I have some ideas on smaller models as well but I think they would be just a bit too small. Was thinking of the Khorne Wrathmongers but I feel as though they would come up too small...they look about the size of a space marine.

Another option would be Ogryns/Bullgryns

There's also the option of using Warmachine Blighted Ogrun Warspears.

Yeah, I was inspired by Eye of Error's converted Warspears and made my first unit of Grots from them but I much prefer the Crypt Horror versions. I now have 12 of them Twisted Evil

Regarding Grotesques, the thing that makes me want to include some is that you can actually fit a decent number of them in a Raider and still have room for 1-2 characters.

Not sure I've got all 12 photographed yet but here's a few samples.
