I have a real distaste for fine cast models, which is especially irritating because I really like the Incubi sculpts. But I've just seen the new idoneth deepkin infantry guys (thralls?), which look like they could make pretty good base models to convert into some Incubi. Does anyone have any suggestions for helmets that could work?

I used some of the old warrior helmets and got some nice compliments on those although they might be slightly hard to come by.

Wild Rider heads. They're not easy to get hold of without buying the full box but they look great.

Finecast doesn’t exist anymore. All the stuff I’ve gotten lately is of the same material as Eisenhorn or Marbo. Great stuff, better than Forge World.

Really? Is that the case with all finecast then? Maybe now would be a good time to get a horde of wracks...

Wracks are plastic currently.

Not sure that Finecast is definitely gone, I bought some Rangers about six months ago and their quality was awful. It's certainly being phased out but watch out for any older kits that haven't had their stock refreshed.

Incubi are still Finecast.
They haven't replace them with a new sprue yet.

Yeah if you grab that old dusty box in your LGS, it may still be the old stuff. There wouldn’t be a sprue for resin either though. If you get a bad batch, just ask GW and they will send you a new set. Then if you’re willing to deal with the cleanup of the bad models, you can basically end up with a 2 for 1 situation (ok likely more like 1.5 for 1).

If you want ideas for mandrakes, I’ve seen great looking conversions using Doomfire Warlock torsos with Wych legs, although in my opinion their reigns holding hand ends up looking like they have some kind of palsy without the context of a mount.

Tree Revenants make downright awesome, if a tad large, mandrakes. Lots of people like the new Namarth(?) cleaver elves, although they are a bit up-armored. But hey, you get lady drakes.

Why not the executioners from the toughest girls of the galaxy 2? They seem awesome!

I use Executioners of Har Ganeth since I already had like 15 of them.

The ones from Raging Heroes look decent but I avoid that company on a principle so I can't vouch for their quality.

All of my Incubi are the metal models from 3rd edition. I think they're still great looking. You can probably try to get those off of EBay.

I really hope this is the case for incubi, I absolutely love the models but am hesitant to pick up what is potential a finecast model with such intricate details.
