I typically don't do battle reports until they go past T3 or if it was close. So far, the games have been rather one-sided.

3 Archons with Blasters
6x 5x Blaster Warriors with Blasters
3x5 Scourges with Blasters
3x5 Mandrakes (ew, but whatever)
3x Ravagers
3x Razorwings
Fill the rest with Raiders

Black Heart everything. I didn't math it out but this should be close to 2k?

Don't run mixed, it's garbage. What do you think?

I think Kabal is our weakest element and a mixed brigade would run roughshod over that nonsense.

That is some serious heresy. I'm down for talking about it here though, or you can write something to explain why you think a mixed brigade is awesome and I'll feature it on my blog Smile

Do you think you could do an article on using Covens in a competitive environment? It would be good to know if a small/large detachment of them can work, and if so how.

I guess I'll do a write-up since if I talk about it on the forums you're just gonna condense it into a strawman and shove it into a blog post anyway.

Seems like instead of dragging Hero for having a distinct/different playstyle, you could make a positive contribution to the community. Like, for example, an article on why mixed brigades are cool.

A better look at more foot-based builds. Basically all of the proposed lists and discussions you have are 3x raiders w/ cabalites, 3x ravagers etc. as a base. Certainly that is strong and competitive, but what would it look like if you mixed that up?

I’ve been thinking about mixed brigade too, my biggest concern is not getting that sweet obsession on my infantry.

Ravagers for heavy, beasts for fast, mandrakes/beastbmasters/incubi for elite then just 6x5 man squads of kabalites with archons for HQ? Archons still offer the kabalite faction re rolls at least

@HERO tell me how you want me to write this so I can give it to you in a decent format.

Any chance you could give us an example of your steps in list building, but with a melee-centered/wych cult army? You've only featured small amounts of them in kabal lists. Considering your stance on unfocused armies being weak, do you see assault-based dark eldar armies as lacking in viability since you'll always need to devote a decent amount of your army to anti-vehicles, which can only really be done with ranged units?

I'd love an article for what your perspective of each Unit's Role is. I know the older editions of the game had some of our older players writing up reports for what Grade rating they would give each unit with an explanation why, how they hold up in the current meta against some of the more competitive armies and what role that unit plays in the army.

An example from the old days (which can probably still be found) was like:

Trueborn: A+
Trueborn fill the an elite slot in the Dark Eldar army with access to a wide variety of weapons, the most common loadout is to take a 5 man squad, with 4 blasters. By doing so, they fill the role of anti-tank and anti-elite. They are most commonly run in a venom, which is able to fit the full 5-man squad, giving them additional mobility, protection from attacks, as well as providing some anti-horde in the form of the Venom's dual splinter cannons.

etc. etc.

That being said, I'm sure we as a community could do this ourselves with a vote or something.

Well, that reply was out of nowhere and slightly immature.

Then again.. if I recall correctly, you're the same guy who urged everyone to buy 100+ Razorwing Flocks when the index dropped and called it the only way to play competitively. Also, your name is TeenageAngst so excuse me for being skeptical.

I very much look forward to your well-argued response on why you think mixed Brigade is the way to go.  The format can be anything you want but has to be coherent and in paragraph form if you want it hosted.

I suggest an article on something I've been trying to work on, ya know, like the topic is asking for, and you cheekily give me some napkin drawing list of something completely different while telling me my idea is terrible with no explanation as to why.

When the index dropped it was the only way to play the army competitively, look at the lists from the ATC. And I advocated 60-90 Razorwing Flocks with cheap counts-as models from 3rd party retailers. Now flocks are good again so it all comes back to us.

I mean it might take a while. The reason I was asking for an article was I kinda wanted another head banging against this wall with me but I guess I've stared at it long enough I can put together a list framework.

Hilarious considering..

What you did was give me a command to work on something with no motive.

For reference on how to actually request something, look at every single other reply in this thread.  I get it, you're probably young and on the internet, but I don't respond very well to these kinds of "requests".

That's a great idea. We could do a council vote with a few members of the community to weigh in on a grade and then provide the reason why. Not sure if I will be the one that runs it though.

Thanks, I look forward to reading your article. I'd love to hear what some of you guys have to say about what we think will be the new DE competitive meta.

I know it works but there's something fundamentally wrong about that last tactic you suggest.

Hey HERO, I was considering your 'don't go in more than 3 directions' advice. If I am designing a melee oriented list, that has cult and coven in it, should I be bothering with ranged Anti Tank kabal support, or should I just be trying to rip tanks open in melee?

Love your articles, keep em' up!
