Hello, Splintermind!

After some great advice in another thread and some constant reworkings of my first Drukhari list ideas, I've finally locked in my first Drukhari list! This is a casual list built on a couple pillars...

1) Redundancy: Keep the weapon options to a minimum and stack that minimum as much as I can. This list is for a new Drukhari player (myself) and a new 40k player (a friend), so simplicity is important. I'll be building more models eventually to round out some more option once I've played the army for a while (blaster/dark lance/shredder kabalites, shardnet wyches, every type of scourge!).

2) Stick to the theme: KotPT and CotCB speak to me lore wise. The lore between the Laughing God and Mayls set my creative mind on overdrive. And after reading about a big event in Commoragh, my brain exploded and I've come me up with a new group centered on a secret union between the KotPT and CotCB, creating an entirely new Kabal/Cult subfaction in Commoragh. Only Lady Mayls could figure out how to put a chain on the CotCB and the means is insidious at best. Silence is only one muscle away.

3) Take the poison buffs from KotPB and moral buffs from CotCB and really maximize their use. This means a metric tonne of poison Kabalites and Wych bodies.

With those pillars met, and some help from Hero's list building guide, I've optimized my original list into something I'm really happy with. I don't think it's very competitive, but it's oozing with fluff potential and the paint scheme is going to be so much fun to paint! Anyways, here it is...

Scourges x5 - Dark Lance x4
Scourges x5 - Splinter Cannon x4

With 4 DS Scourge, a WWP Wych Squad and three units of redeploying Kabalite Raiders I feel I'll almost always have an advantage in the Deployment phase. I'll also have some very heavy hitting screens in the form of large Wych squads, enough Poison to deal with the heavy horde meta at my LGS, and enough Darklight to handle at least a couple key threats.

Some concerns are Wych delivery and unoptimized Kabalite loadouts, but besides going against my Kabalites = Poison theme and wanting to field 20 strong Wych squads, I don't think there's a solution. If I want to take this list to a competitive event, Shredders/Dark Lances on the Cabalites and switching the Cult to Red Grief and running them in either packs of 5/10 in Venoms/Raiders would be the answer. But those are changes for another day.

What do you guys think about what I have going on here? Assuming I don't change the Kabalites at all, will they pump out enough wounds against say a Nid/Cultist/Pox Walker swarm between the KotPT/Splinter Cannon/Splinter Racks to put a dent in them? Especially with a potential SC Scourge unit dropping in to assist? Do you think my Wyches will just be blown off the board before they can do anything? Even with one being WWPed? Thoughts?

Shredder scourge are amazing, they kill an average of 8 GEQ/turn, SC scourge only kill 6. Splinter racks really aren't worth the points, i'd go for more kabalites instead of racks. PGL also isn't worth the points. with the extra points you can buy some shredders/blasters on the kabalites. Seems like a good list though, great theme and the mass wyches should be fun. maybe you could run them in squads of 10 to get more succubi/wych weapons, and have 6 squads?

Agree on shredders being solid, you will get more mileage out of them than splinter cannons. You can take both, but you definetly should take shredders as well. Yeah you want to maximize the rerolls for poison weapons, but that doesn't mean you don't want to take other weapons as well. I disagree about the PGLs though, I'd keep those. They only need to work once to make their pts back, and the new torment grenade stratagem they can use is solid in a tight spot.

Dark lances aren't a good choice on scourges anymore. Blasters are far better, you don't need the extra range on a deep striking unit and blasters won't suffer the -1 to hit when you deep strike in. I also don't think I'd take splinter cannons on the scourges, since you've got plenty of anti infantry already and seems like poisoned weapons will be the job of the kabalites with reroll 1s. Instead have the scourges double down on anti tank duty, take more blasters or haywire blasters since I think the list overall needs more anti tank if you don't want to give the warriors any blasters.

I'm curios to see how the wyches fair. 60 is a lot of attacks, but it's also a lot of footslogging t3 bodies. The sudo-fearless trait helps a lot, but they are very vulnerable just footslogging, and the deep striking unit is at risk of of failing their charge when they pop up and being stranded. I'd say it's a risk worth trying out if you own that many wych models already, but otherwise I might reconsider that many wyches, maybe replace some with reavers who are tougher and can move way faster.
