 Succubus + Serpentin + Glaive

PostSubject: Succubus + Serpentin + Glaive   Sun Apr 08 2018, 00:31

So now that a Succubus has combat drugs. Can she take Serpentin to get WS +1 (even if 1s still fail to hit) so that she would still hit on 2+ with the Glaive with RRs of 1?

I believe that works.

With Serpentin, you would have 1+ WS.

An unmodified roll of 1 is a miss by default. Brides of Death would allow that to be rerolled.

However, an unmodified 2 is not an automatic miss, and would be modified to a 1 due to the Archite Glaive. That would be compared with the WS (1+) and would therefore be a hit.

The WS boost wouldn't help with the Blood Dancer warlord trait, as a 6+ would still be unattainable.

BRB pg 175: "Toughness and Leadership characteristics can never be modified below 1"
implies that other characteristics can be modified at least to a 1, 1s always fail but 1+ to hit -1 to the roll should make her hit on 2s

I'm not entirely sure that this works but honestly I really hope it does. +1ws is often a drug I don't have a place for, so it would be nice if there was a cult model where the ws boost would be useful.

didnt they write it in one of the community articles that you can modify everything even above 10?
strangely i learnt more from these articles tahn from the brb

I believe so but we're talking ws here, not quite the same sort of stat. Just not positive on how having +1 ws affects a -1 to hit modifier.

a 2+ armor characteristic can also be modified to a 1+, 1s always fail, but a ap-1 weapon makes it a 2+ save

Assuming that's the case sounds like the +1 ws helps the glaive then.

Thats exactly how it works.  
With Blood Dancer warlord trait 6+ ability, +1 from Power from Pain turn 3 (add 1 to hit rolls) causing the warlord trait to proc on 5+ with regular weapons and 6+ with an archite glaive.

EDIT: I do not believe the combat drug stacks with the Blood Dancer ability because it only adds 1 to weapon skill. I believe it has to say +1 to hit like Flensing Fury.

Also, the rolls themselves can be modified to be lower than 1, at which point, the rules say that any roll below 1 just becomes 1

Yeah it definetly doesn't help with the blood dancer trait, you need a +1 to hit modifier to get the extra hits on 5s, not +1 ws.
