This chapter approved does tell us something important tho: the only thing that isn't going to be in our codex is the court.

And I'm not assumign corsairs ARE getting updated. as far as I can tell they are heading oop.

I dont believe corsair will be dropped now after speaking with forgeworld customer support. Unfortuanatly the guy who wrote Doom of Mymeara passed away from illness ( cancer i believe ) i had this confirmed by the manager of my local store in Kingston UK as well. Forgeworld said that this would inevitabley put back alot of projects as he was an integral part of the literature department.

Again this is what i was told. Corsair are brand new i dont see them going OOP this soon. But GW love to prove me wrong.

Yeah he died 1/2 through the FW index rules and thats why they are all messed up.

Just seen the changes to targeting characters. New rule is:

“An enemy CHARACTER with less than 10 wounds can only be targeted if it is both visible to the firer and it is the closest enemy model to the firer. This means that if any other model is closer, whether it is visible or not, then the enemy CHARACTER cannot be targeted.”

So if you can hide a unit out of LOS of the enemy your characters are now free to wander the battlefield in complete safety.

Making characters somehow even harder to take out is fixing the issues with them.

Does GW even know what that word means anymore?

Apparently it’s to prevent rhino scoping. I think it was definitely a poorly thought out rule.

If they limited how many characters you could have or made it so characters don’t protect characters it might work. But I expect super friends just got stronger

Chapter approved seems a little too long to write out, how about an abbreviation.

The rule makes sense to prevent people LoS blocking with their own models to snipe a character, but it opens up a whole new means of abuse.
The rule should have had a clause stating "unless LoS to the nearest enemy is blocked by an attacking players own models".

If they had done this change and made it that you could target any character closer than a non character enemy model I would have been fine with it.

It would have solved super happy tree friends and rhino scoping, which now you've said it I can see it could be a major issue.

For some reason CraptApproved rolls off my tongue easier

They made this change bc of "Rhinoscoping"? I don't know what that is, but to be clear: they saw a singular instance of Characters - presumably - getting away with shenanigans, and made an adjustment...to 'fix' that one, singular instance of things not working?

Well that makes sense. I continue to have ZERO hope for our codex.

Its when you place a rhino or other blocky vehicle in front of you heavy shooting units, they no longer "See" the closest enemy unit, it was honestly a good tactic that should have stayed in the game.

I don't know, that's such a "gamey" tactic that I'm happy to have it removed.

The problem is that when people were talking about the issue with targeting characters prior to Chapter Approved, I'm guessing hardly anyone was thinking of rhino scoping as the issue. The army lists that were sometimes stomping tournaments filled with nothing but characters was the bigger issue.

I can atleast get behind that more than 1 scout hiding behind a wall limiting me from shooting a character who is no where near said scout and wide open.

How is this better or less gamey?

Btw i just realised the "reasoning" behind the ridiculous Tantalus change in my last game against space marines after my opponent started crying that my OP 350 point unit killed a 165 point hellblaster squad before getting blown to bits by lascannons and whatnot... It is good at killing their posterboys Primaris and they HATE that... period

P.S. For the same reason do not expect any disintegrator point drop, mark my words it is either staying the same or going UP...

I think it's more likely that the Tantalus just got caught in a blanket Forgeworld super-heavy nerf. Lots of them went up in price even if they weren't especially problematic - pretty sure they're just getting shoved towards Apocalypse games.

Although that might be the case i prefer to think that they actually have a reasoning, even if its a ridiculous one, than to think they just nerfed everything with the Forgeworld stamp without any reason at all...

I wish GW had thought about that a few years ago before they pretty much forced people to play them in 'normal' games, presumably because nobody was playing Apocalypse.
