Assuming MSU = Multiple Small Units...
Works great, just double them up in raiders. My standard raider loadout is 1 raider with Disintegrator and Shock Prow (Splurging!), Filled with 2 squads of 5 Trueborn packing 2 lance 2 blasters each, with a PGL and rifle on the leader because he has to contribute something. 3 of those zipping around is an intimidating thing to deal with for my buddies.

Not one to field Trueborn much myself. I normally just run 10 man squads of Kab's in Raiders. Though I'm going to Throne of Skulls next month and I'll be running a 10 man and two 5 man squads of Kab's as to fill my troop slots for my battallion detachment. I couldn't comment much but like @FuelDrop says stick 'em together in raiders to reduce your drops.

I was like you, once. However, my common opponents are an Obliterator/Chaos Terminator/Khorn Hound loving Chaos player (tons of 2+ saves and multi-wound models) and a Terminator/Centurion/Primerus favoring Ultramarines player.

As you can imagine, I find Darklight far more cost effective than poison spam. I would undoubtedly use poison if I were fighting a less wound/model intensive build. As it is, I have taken efforts to purge poison from my army as it just is not effective against my common foes. Consult your local meta to see if Darklight is right for you.

Well my current 120PL Throne of Skulls list runs an "ok" amount of splinter. But a shed load of darklight. Check it out in the list section, let us know. I'm currently brainstorming tactics for the tourn' for scenarios like your opponents. This is open war so deployment can be very funny at times though I think I've got a few good ideas.

Since I now beleive we measure to the bases of our Voidravens, as discussed on one of the threads on DC, which is what I did anyway in some cases. I will spread out well enough in my deployment as to stop anyone from getting between/ behind me and mitigate any potential charges. But then that leaves my front and that's where the Voidravens come in. Along any edge of my deployment that leads to "no-mans-land" will have Voidravens along it. This'll be to force my enemy to drop infront of me and, as it goes on paper, be out of melta range in most cases. Using Voidravens as a DS screen against the enemy could also negate almost all charges they may have planned to do since you need FLY to get into combat with them.

Granted this will only work if I either go first and stay still (YEAH RIGHT XD XD XD ) or my opponent goes first. Though from turn 2 onwards it'll be down to the positioning of my units.

I might suggest some footslogging 5-man squads of Naked Kabalites to throw under the bus for deep strike denial. at 35 points for a squad they're cheaper than a Voidraven, and they make good backfield objective holders and smite spam soakers. Also, throw your compulsory Archon under the bus too, make him as cheap as possible and have him footslog it for deep strike denial on one of your flanks.

Most opponents will waste time and effort killing a useless archon, saving your valuable units from that firepower and increasing your retaliatory capacity if they seize the initiative.

EDIT: Protip: avoid venoms, they lack the firepower to contribute.

Most DE players I know of will do what they can to minimize their HQ and even their Troops choices. We have no real need for Command Points at this juncture, so the tax for a Brigade or several battalions are not really something we focus on compared to multiple spearheads or the like, emphasizing our strong units.

The reason I want as many CP's as poss' for the tourn is for re-rolls on Invul's for my Tantalus and to re-roll the number of shots either of my Reapers try and put out. I'd rather not throw people under a bus, solely to not give them an easy first blood. But also because I want first turn, obv's, and my drop count is already 11 which I consider to be VERY high for this tourn'. Unfortionately there's not alot I can do about that. I dropped Blasterborn in a venom, a Lhamaen and a Sslyth to put in another 2 Voidravens into my list. Which also gave me another CP. The void lances, mine, missles, minus to hit, more wounds and higher toughness are much more appealing to me.

True, but not to shoot down your suggestion by any means. One idea was to deploy the Kab's out of their Raiders for a protection bubble like you say, but I guess it'll all come down to the deployment type n the days.

Using 2 x 5 loadouts in raiders too : 1 drop, and double the special weapons / ~sergeants.

Works great with wyches & kabalites ^^

I'd rather have 1 heavy and 1 special than 0 heavy and 2 specials. But that's just me being in love with Dark Lances.

If I ever get round to finishing my Tantalus I will try that with an Archon and 3 units of Trueborn, either 4 x Blasters each or 2 x Blaster and 2 x DL. 5 units, 1 drop, 25 S8 shots, plus the odd PGL Smile

My DE is always MSU except a unit or 2 at the most (but thats till 1 or 2 units at 10man over 5man).

But i also play Trueborn over Kabal, they just work better for me in everyway.

I normally either run 2 Haemonculus or 2 Warlocks w/ bikes (the Warlocks do more than any of our HQ's do for DE is stupid, i'm using my Corsairs Barons on Bikes as Warlocks lol).

But B.c how costly Vehicles are now is i think why you dont see more detachments, 1 vehicle is 40-50% more costly. 2 Raiders in 8th is 4 in 7th, Also Bikes were cheap, your talking about 48pts for a 3man, they are 90pts (im talking about 0 upgrades to keep it simple) thats Double the points.

That means if you had 6 vehicles and 6 FA in 7th, now you have 3 Vehicles and 3 FA slots.

Its just the difference in points now, b.c many of our non-vehicle units or units that dont go in vehicles are not very good so we are almost required to take said vehicles.

Currently i take (as Pure DE) 2 Haemonculus, 4-5 Ravagers (and a reaper), a Bomber, 3 Raiders with Trueborn and literally the rest is Bests I just take a Vanguard and Heavy deatchments with all 4 FA slots as beasts.

So i mean i play MSU b.c all units are minimum size units but i mean... they are heavy tanks they are not small when looking at it from a different pov lol.
