I mean... honestly, it would not be so bad if we had reason to believe that they were going through the updated codexes as their priority.

But they open the year of Xenos with a new imperial army release. That time could have been used to bring the other armies up to date.

I do not begrudge the Custodes getting their own codex and 40k line, but I do begrudge the timing. Updating all the index armies should have been priority numero uno. Once the last of the major factions is up to date with a satisfactory codex, go nuts! Release a dozen new subfactions for the imperium!

But doing it before the established armies? That does not bode well.

I do not mind the custodes codex or that.
I just hope that if they put some effort in all the codexes.

@Mppqlmd

You mean like the imperial guard index after chapter approved, few months old and already a quarter of the point costs is outdated?

I the year of Xenos

You have to think in terms of Business Fiscal Year. Which for GW is June to June. So I would think another 10 Codex by June. Then Start the Fiscal Year with new Xenos releases outside of of the Codex releases.

My gut thought is that we will be the June Codex with some new Models; Vect, and 2 more named characters. Maybe some plastic kits for existing Finecast.

I would hope we come out sooner than June, but I would actually be kinda pissed off if Druhkari came out before Necron and Tau as, while we were given scraps (terrible scraps but still something) they got nothing outa CA ... I realize that because the second codex of January is Thousand sun's the first codex of February will more than likely be Space wolves followed by custodians ... So April is my optimistic bet.

Stop clinging on Vect. He's gone. You're just hurting yourself.

We thought the primarch were gone too, but low and behold their shambling corpses are still animated and making things worse across the galaxy

Just let him go. Even at his peak he was more interesting in fluff and a board representation would hardly do him any justice.

What do you expect? A combat monster with enough tricks and technoloy to get toe to toe with Abaddon? And perhaps a superheavy Ravager/Raider along with that? Oh, please...

If we get a character I'd hope for the Duke. Not only does he have hilarious fluff, a great artist could make an astonishing model. On top of that, he could have great/fun rules just as well.

He would also fill the gap of us not having a Kabalite IC. Alternatively I'd wish for Valossian Sythrac because he would make a great Kabalite beatstick that could be reasponable priced. Him or the Decapitator.

I keep wanting lady Malys to come back ... Though if the Harlequins are getting a codex she will probably end up in there ...

I fear that many of our characters will be stolen by Ynnari.

A superheavy flying ziggurat would be nice. With good firepower and CP generation rules.

Dias of destruction.
Ravager with T 8, 12 wounds, Transport capacity 5, WS/BS 2+, 3++ save, and gets two shooting phases per turn.

I can get behind this. He is not a melee monster. He should be a vehicle profile all the way. If you wanted him to still have a melee profile, put a retinue of Incubi in the profile. CC gets 10 S4 ap-3 attacks, along with the melee profile of the Dais. 3 S8 ap-3 attacks.

The degenerating effect of HP would be loss of Incubi attacks.

The enemy would want to get in combat with him to stop his godly shooting, but will rue the minute they do so.

I wouldn't mind seein Vect with enough tricks and tech to 1v1 Abaddon or Guilliman even. Wouldn't mind it at all.

Kheradruakh would be awesome but, I feel like GW doesn't do infiltrating HQ characters much justice on the tabletop. Either way it could be a really really neat looking mini.

Much as I'd love to see new characters and plastic kits, it's entirely possible that GW releases our codex with no model update at all. Happened to most codexes so that's what om expecting, though I'll of course be pleasantly suprised if we get new models as well.

Much as I love Vect I'd rather see new generic characters, like literally anything on a jetbike/skyboard.

I want him to have an Option to be a Infantry model or a Vehicle model.

I would love to see a datasheet for Valossian Sythrac. Make the huskblade actually good and give him the ability to negate overwatch and impose negative modifiers to hit against melee opponents.

I echo the sentiment that what I really want to see though is the ability to customise generic HQ options any way I want and build my own character. Give them access to pretty much anything they want from the DE armoury and then sprinkle in 7th Corsairs style customisation of their traits and relics.

I kinda built the Dias with a transport capacity so that an infantry vect and his bodyguard could board it.

Vect the infantry should have a Shadowshield that never shorts out. His personal blade should wound anything on 2+ (vehicles 4+), with -3 AP and D3 damage.

His other rules? He should recycle Command points on a 4+, unless the stratagem targets him or the Dias in which case 2+. And he brings +2 Command points to the table as well.
+2 on seize the initiative.
All Dark Eldar within 12" reroll all 1's to hit and wound and use his leadership 10.
Kabal units from his kabal within 6" reroll all failed hits and wounds. Dais gets these auras when he is aboard, but doubles the range because everyone can see him.

His sidearm is a pistol 2 blast pistol with 9" range, which can fire as assault 1 18" range but at -1 to hit.

His Helmet of Spite means that whenever a psyker targets him with a power they take d3 mortal wounds, success or failure.

Finally, whenever he kills an enemy character during the fight phase all enemy units within 12" get -1 LD during the next morale phase while all friendly dark eldar within 12" get +1 to their leadership for the same phase.

I'm guessing him and his ride are like 800-500 points then?

Well the ride packs power and durability lower than a land raider, and his abilities are comparable to Girly man but in a S3, T3, 5 wound package.

So I would say combined maybe 500 points. or even 450, comparing it to other stuff that does very similar things.

EDIT:
Actually the 4++ save on the Dais means that it's more durable against heavy weapons than a land raider. But still less wounds, lower transport capacity and less guns, even factoring in firing twice.

So... call it 275 for Vect and... 250 for the Dais?

I would vote we just get hugely competetive general options.
And we can just vote in all tournaments to have no named characters and all the nasty primarchs just can't hit the table.

Or maybe make vect the power behind the curtain he is.
He is not represented with a model, just a crap of special rules for the complete army?

Seconded! Give us some force multipliers too!

Give the Cults a second HQ option so they can combo Auras like Chaos's Dark Acolyte/Exulted Champion!

I was doing a list for my Blood Angels the other day. They have 20 HQ choices PLUS 9 named characters! Makes our 3+3 look rather pathetic (because it is).
