I kinda built the Dias with a transport capacity so that an infantry vect and his bodyguard could board it.

Vect the infantry should have a Shadowshield that never shorts out. His personal blade should wound anything on 2+ (vehicles 4+), with -3 AP and D3 damage.

His other rules? He should recycle Command points on a 4+, unless the stratagem targets him or the Dias in which case 2+. And he brings +2 Command points to the table as well.
+2 on seize the initiative.
All Dark Eldar within 12" reroll all 1's to hit and wound and use his leadership 10.
Kabal units from his kabal within 6" reroll all failed hits and wounds. Dais gets these auras when he is aboard, but doubles the range because everyone can see him.

His sidearm is a pistol 2 blast pistol with 9" range, which can fire as assault 1 18" range but at -1 to hit.

His Helmet of Spite means that whenever a psyker targets him with a power they take d3 mortal wounds, success or failure.

Finally, whenever he kills an enemy character during the fight phase all enemy units within 12" get -1 LD during the next morale phase while all friendly dark eldar within 12" get +1 to their leadership for the same phase.

I'm guessing him and his ride are like 800-500 points then?

Nah just make him 360 points like old Roboute Guilliman Razz

Although to add on to it, it would be cool if Vect had an ability where he can spend a command point to deny enemy command point usage. Example to deny 1CP power Spend 1CP and roll 2+ to deny, roll 4+ for 2CP Strategems/Passing moral, and roll 6+ to deny 3CP Strategems...etc

A few weeks, maybe a month tops Razz

But this does raise a valid point. GW seems to have ADD with new factions, creating them then moving on without really fleshing them out.

I think this is a pretty recent trend - in 40k we've had, what, Dark Eldar in 1998, Tau in 2001, and then an explosion in 2015-16 with Harlequins, Skitarii, Cult Mech, Genestealer Cults, Deathwatch, Adeptus Custodes?

Age of Sigmar seems an even worse example of this, with over fifty tiny factions despite being only a couple of years old as a game system.

Harlequins were around for a long time since Eldar was first introduced in RT.  I think it was possible to play as a full army back then.

Here is a link to the army.

They were taken out back in around 3-4th when they was doing some weird house cleaning and trying to stream line the game more.

Same for GSC, these were armies already, so i wouldnt consider them new within that boom, but re-done.

Or he could have "At the beginning of the game, and at the beginning of your every turn, name a stratagem. Your opponent cannot use that stratagem until the beginning of your next turn. You cannot name the same stratagem twice in a game".

Fair, but I was just really counting them having a Codex for the first time - e.g., Genestealer Cults were an appendix of the Tyranid Codex back in 2nd edition. Hell, if Squats, Zoats or Slann got re-introduced I'd consider them a new faction at this point.

Been saying it for ages but he should have a flat "You don't get to use that stratagem" ability. No CP cost, just a roll (2+ for Vect, 4+ for Archon). Usable each and every time an opponent uses a stratagem or, at worst, once per turn.

"Cut off the head": If you kill a character, the other player cannot use stratagems until the end of your next turn due to disruption of the command structure.

I really like the idea of our army being one of 'addition through subtraction'. Dark Eldar aren't motivated by group goals, they're motivated by self-interest. I like the idea of many of our Auras being negative modifiers to opposing armies.

That said, we definitely need something to buff our dudes, right now anything would be nice.

Thats a neat idea actually. Like if we had the Duke again, he can target an emeny unit within 24" and all posion weapons can re-roll wounds against said unit.

I've been expressing for a while the wish that our Archon would have a Doom ability to replace his old "Purge Coterie" power.

Write that to 40kfaqs

And Archon with Doom would be amazing (not in Powers form but ability)

Okay. So some thoughts on Archon Abilities:

Command: The Archon orders co-ordinated fire or designates an enemy for death. once per turn choose either a friendly or an enemy unit within line of sight of the Archon. If a friendly unit is picked it may reroll all 1's on attack rolls until the beginning of your next turn, unless it is of the same Kabal as your archon in which case it rerolls all failed hits. If an enemy unit is chosen, all 1's to wound against that unit are rerolled unless inflicted by a unit of the same Kabal as your Archon, in which case all failed wounds are rerolled.

Any allied unit targeted by command gains +1 leadership, unless they are of the same Kabal as the Archon in which case they get +2. Any enemy unit targeted by Command receives -1 leadership.

I'm on the exact same boat as Mppqlmd. A simple "point at stuff and re-roll wounds against it" rule. It doesn't need any fancy extras, it's already extremely good.

Also, it would be fluffy (some ancient eldar tech) and would fit our play style perfectly.

Yep, this is why so many of us seem to take Farseers as our HQ - because Doom is just that good for us and we desperately need something like it natively.
