 Harlequins vs BA and Ultr SM's

HELLO!

Im a DE payer at heart but lately Harlequins has just been so much more fun to play, so i'm starting to focus only on quins doing Bat reps and updates.

The goal of my list was to test out Voidweavers, i've played them with 1 or 2 before and didnt do so well, thinking they would work better in spam style (yeah for spam!) sometimes having 1 or 2 of something doesnt do much, but the unit has some major strengths when taking many you see the strengths.





Mission type, Secure and Control: its is 2 Objectives with First Blood, Line Breaker and Warlord.

He was going to go first (unless i seized) so i prepared for this, seeing after a couple drops it looked like he was splitting his army up, so i tried to stay more in the middle but with my very important Hemlock in the corner t further split him.

I tried to Seize the Initiative, failed, used a command point and still fail (no biggy)

This game will last for 3 turns.

BA/USM Turn 1

He first got out his Sang Guard and Dante, moved+advance them up (he moved out the front as far as he could to gain 3.999" of movement, this was good on him), he moved the 2 Storm Ravens up (to stay within the Aura, he only moved them 20").

He shot the 1st Storm Raven all into the Hemlock, almost killing it, the 2nd Storm Raven split his damage, he got some good hits/wounds (re-rolls are really good) and manage to kill the Hemlock and Voidweaver (he was very lucky, but its ok).

His Devastators shot at the only 2 things in range and sight, dealing a few wounds on one and a couple on another.

End BA/USM turn.

Harlequins Turn 1

Trying to further split him up and wanting to focus those 15 Lascannons down 1st, i moved everything but 2 Voidweavers to the bottom right of the field. Those 2 Voidweavers goal will to scare the Storm Ravens and Sang Guard to stay in cover and close to the Storm Ravens (they are scary in melee so i didn't want any melee units close to them).

The 2 Voidweavers shot all the Shuriken Cannons at them (12 shots) killing , i was very luck b.c i got 2 6's making him roll 4 armors and 2 6+'s. The P, Cannons along with 2 other Voidweavers (all its shots) shot at the one Storm Raven (4 lances 2 hits 1 wound, i re-rolled for a 2nd wound) wounds on 2d6, i got 6 wounds, doing another 3 wounds with 4 shuriken cannons.

Everything else shot at the Devastators, killing 1 unit and a couple from the other, extremely limiting his fire power now. As he lost 5 Lascannons and a Storm raven is weaker.

I used the 2 Shadowseers Hallucinogen Grenades on the Storm Raven, doing nothing (he was very surprised when i ask what a LD of a Storm Raven was) due to the -1 to hit from Airborne, i missed with 1 and the other failed to work.

Quick Note:
8 vehicles with -1 to hit and a 4++ against units with Re-rolls on a 3+ is very effective, when a unit Re-rolls misses it is "before" modifiers, so 3's normally would hit, but now are treated as a hit sense he has to use the re-rolls before mods, making all 3's misses without being able to re-roll (this was cleared up via Games-workshop, its in the FAQs) the re-rolls that are 3's also counted as a miss.


BA/USM turn 2

Fearing the "high damage" from Voidweavers (they dont really do a lot of damage 4 lances shooting him only did 6 wounds, they are -1 to hit when i move making me 4+ to hit and 5+ to hit sense he is Airborne).

He Keeps his Sang Guard back as Body guards fearing i would lance Dante.

He Hovers his Storm Ravens, shooting the Crippled one at my non-hurt Voidweaver (it was in Rapid fire range the hurt one was not) hitting on 5+ even with re-rolls it didnt do much, only put on a couple wounds.

Storm Raven 2 shot everything at my Starweaver with a Troupe Master and FP Troupes, killing it. I rolled my 6 dice rolling a 1 killing 1 Troupe.

The rest of his Lascannons Devs shoots at 2 Starweavers (he ricked it by shooting the 3man unit 1st, doing 4 wounds) sense he did 4 wounds he thought a 5man could kill one it self and shoot all at another, hitting me 3 total times and wounding 2, i re-rolled a dice for 1 wound, total of 2 damage.

Note: I understood why he did it, and if it worked the next turn he could have hurt me really bad, he was hoping for a high risk high reward situation, hindsight tho says he should have focus 1 target.

Harlequins Turn 2

I had a few FP Troupes on the board and i knew that i could take out the Storm Raven, i also knew that Gman would be a huge problem, so i wanted to kite him back away from me while doing good amount of damage via HGL (Hallucinogen Grenade Launcher) and Smite.

So I moved up to prepare my large damage on Gman for next turn, i wanted to clear the board a bit more 1st.

The Shadowseers Smite the Storm Raven doing good damage (enough now i know my FP Troupes can handle it).

Shot all my FP's into the Storm Raven killing it, 3 vehicles shot the rest of the Dev units killing them.

I took the rest of my army to take pop shots off the Sang Guard and other Storm Raven, killing a couple Guards and some wounds on the 2nd Storm Raven.

End Harlequins Turn 2
VP: 0


BA/USM Turn 3

At this point he is going to try to win the game based on Objectives and 1st blood, along with Warlord, my Warlord is out on the table.

He moves Gman closer tot he Object out of cover (attempting to charge).

His Storm Raven (still in range of Dante) shoots everthing at the Troupes, a hurt Starweaver and a hurt Voidweavers (i only had 1 and 2 wounds on each) killing them all. He was hoping to do enough damage with it to survive next turn, the Troupe got out losing 1 guy (they are FP unit that will be out of range of Melta rule).

Gman takes some shots doing nothing then fail to charge. (9" charge).

End BA/USM Turn 3
VP: 1


Harlequins Turn 3

My only goal was to kill Gman, as at this point that would be Warlord and i could live long enough for 2 more turns easily to sit on an objective.

I move around a bit to get into position so my vehicles can shoot Gman, Storm Raven and Sang Guard.

The Shadowseer's being close now to the goal, they get out and Move + Advance (the HGL is an assault weapon, since they are 2+ to hit i was chancing the 3+ to hit) they make it into cover just close enough to the objective.

They 1st use Smite, both of them together doing 5 wounds in total.

During the shooting phase the 2 HGL's both hit, 1 rolled an 11 doing 3 damage, the other only rolled a 9, but sense one of a 6 i re-rolled the other with my last Command point, making it a 10, doing enough to kill him, Gman failed his 4+ and the BA/USM player decided at this point he was going to call it.

End Harlequins turn, getting Warlord for 1 vp

Maybe a turn by turn diagram, above the turn report itself, could be better.

Yes i will do this for sure, and i want pictures next time.

Ive been filming them and the editing is taking WAY to long so we are redoing the videos.

also, that arly list seems quite nasty. spammy, ok, but most of the best lists are. how did the fusion pistols served you? making a comparison to DE blast pistols, i'm not greatly impressed...arlequins do it better?

B.c how Harlequins are (the vehicles and movements) vs DE ones the FP are leaps and bounds better than Blasters, blasters has the range for sure, but D6 with melta rule is so much better.

Harlequins has to spam anyways, i mean they only have 1 FA, 1 Heavy, 1 Troupe, and 2 HQs and Elites lol.

I mean one of the elites is almost worthless also.
